As you can probably gather from my name, I use weather to dictate if I bet or not.
I found relying on sport alone to make a sustained and sustainable profit very difficult, but weather gives me a kind of edge across a number of sports that I just can't get elsewhere, especially in football where impacts are far more subtle than in say rugby or NFL.
Happy to chat with anyone who is generally interested, but in the meantime good luck with the upcoming season, whatever your particular passion.

Can you elaborate on how the weather gives you an edge?

Thanks,
TB

Got to say that I only bet on football and the Cheltenham festival. I have never considered weather to be an advantage or disadvantage for either team that I have a football bet on and I honestly don't think it is. Whereas for horse racing it is....a horse goes better on heavy, soft, good, hard ground whatever. Other sports.....haven't a clue.

In the last few months we've have a guy who uses astrology to bet, a guy who says Croatia deserve the world cup because of their small GDP and population compared to France, and now a guy who decides if to have a bet or not depending on if it's pissing it down outside.

Can't help think that some of these are parody accounts.. welcome anyhow.

So you think if Sevilla travel to Moscow in late Nov for a CL game and the temp is -15c, that doesn't present an advantage to the home side?
Weather affects many sports and in turn many of the markets therein. Just looking at a few other sports in a very basic way - surely you can see if it's hosing down onto an already heavy, wet pitch, the total tries and points in both code of rugby will be reduced, because handling becomes that much more difficult and as such the game becomes forwards dominated, attritional affairs.
Similarly in NFL/College football, if it's windy QB tend not to throw long passes and once again the game changes into one of shorter drives. Kicking points in these sports too is greatly affected by the wind, clearly wracking up points with the boot is far more difficult in such conditions.
Frankly I'm not here to convince you or anyone else about weather impact on betting markets, as I said in my intro I'm happy to discuss, but not try to convert...no pun intended!

Feel free to think what you like, as I said in my intro I'm happy to discuss, I'm not here to try and convince or convert anyone.

It may well do but I only bet on UK football (unless it's a special event like the Champions League final) so I've never had to consider the kind of scenario you mention. The weather wouldn't affect any bets I make. The only other sport I bet on occasionally is horse racing but I am aware that the going (due to the weather) can give an advantage or disadvantage to certain horses.
