If the penalty had gone in we would have folded. Instead it spurred us on after 7 straight home defeats. You guys are still in with a chance of the autos - good luck!

It’s what we do mate - seriously. If you’ve not won a game in ages at home - exeter a few seasons ago for instance. You boys today. We’ve a weird history of doing it

Sound like us down the years! I’d half fancy playing an in form side over one that hasn’t won in ages as it’s guaranteed we will get beat!

The game also confirmed what I already knew.
What an obnoxious c*** Bishop really is.
Made a career out of it whether Scunny, Notts and now Mansfield.

A true master of gamesmanship, getting opponents booked and generally being a wanker.

Well done that man

He tried it in injury time too then realised it was going to eat up momentum and time and sprang up like a jack in the box!

I think he looks well past his best and in my opinion is the weak link in their team. I'm surprised he's still getting a game. However grant looks a good player except for a shit haircut... He looks like George Michael in the club tropicana video.

Good player Grant, didn’t do much for Notts against us last season but was their only real constant thorn in our side today. (Should be for the wedge he is costing mind!)

Surprised he ended up at Mansfield though as was at Luton earlier in the season? Surely after last season even a mid table league one side would have had him? Same with Walker I guess who came to us for L1 footy and would of kept us up had he not got that season ending injury in the Feb that left us reliant on Big Reg! He broke through at Forest and got a few for them then ended up back at league two level. Strange one.

That stunner against Bury on his debut... rare good memory from the second half of that season!

Bishop struggled today against that midfield three as did Doyle and O’Brien who County were raving about. Without Kay in the middle the energy Conlon and Manny provide and Joyce who’s actually started to show the quality the past two games we thought we were getting in the summer shows what can be done in that central area for us. Manny was different gravy second half, assist maybe gave him the confidence back but was like the Manny from August/September rather than the shadow since his injury. He was literally taking the piss at times when we had that spell of pressure second half when we could of had a couple more goals. The nut meg and the cheeky flick. Owed us that for his performance and red at Field Mill!

We lack quality is areas yes but on his day Manny certainly has it in droves and that’s what we’ve missed in recent months.

They've got loads of quality, thought Khan looked good when he came on.
Grant obviously is top notch and I posted about Benning last season. If there's a better left back in the division I've yet to see him.
Is Craig Davies injured ? And think Walker was banned.

All of those would walk into our team blindfolded .
Didn't rate the keeper at all though.

For us you have to ask just what David Worrall did to upset Aspin, those regulars like VF16 will know I was banging on about him being missing months ago .
Quality player and a welcome extra to the survival fight .

Who knows with Wozza. First name on the team sheet last season... something went on with him and Aspin but glad Askey has given players like him and Miller a fresh chance. Bury player of the year when they got promoted a few years back wasn’t he? Won promotion to the Championship two years back.

We’ve had zero width and him sat in the stands. Crazy.

Six defeats now. It feels like we probably have added better players but have a lost a bit of resilience after only losing one game from August to January. Can sometimes get the extra goals to win games but now prone to crumbling.

Yep, the left back is a cracking player. As their manager intimated, they just weren't up for it today for whatever reason. Sometimes when you go to a team in poor form, you sub consciously think it's going to be a stroll.

We were dreadful in all departments today (including the away following noise). Bennings touch to give the ball away for the first goal is schoolboy and no idea what we were playing at for the second.

We didn’t deserve a goal back and how did Ajose score 20+ in league 1?!

Flitcroft special is incoming and if we lose on Tuesday then I’m going to question if we’ll even stay in the playoffs.

Ah well - at least at Crawley I can buy something from the kiosk and it’s only an hours drive!

I’ve heard differing things as to why Worrall wasn’t being picked. What I’d love to see at some point is Monty up there with him and really try and stretch the opposition. That is not a knock on Hannant who after I’ve criticised him before has really responded well to the last couple of games.

It’s encouraging though that the players seem to understand what they are doing in terms of their role now and that’s to Askeys credit. We would not have won this game under Aspin as the players would not have had the fitness to play the high tempo pressing game we’ve now adopted.

Just to add Mansfield fans were a class act today. Noticed a few joining in with the red card protests and after meeting a few in the pub beforehand can only wish them all the best and hope they go up.

Depending on if we decide to freshen legs for Tuesday Monty might be worth a go as he tore Yeovil apart at their place!

I can't remember if he was POTS but what a great player he was to have in the team. Technically that 10/11 side had many better players, but none who would literally run into the ground for the cause as Worrall did. Same the following season in league one, whenever he had the ball you felt he could create something.

Some of the football both teams played yesterday was a credit to the division, so credit to Askey in particular in getting that out of us in such a short space of time.

Grant is becoming a bit of a liability to be honest, doubt it will happen but Khan should replace him at Crawley.

It definitely feels like we have been losing momentum for a bit now, that’s self-inflicted and also you gotta put some blame on injuries and suspensions to vital assets in White and recently Walker.

Do Mansfield have the best defence in the league by any chance?

I thought that yesterday and nearly made the joke but decided to let somebody do it instead. You win!

What’s up with Grant? He made a great start at FM? A lot of our fans would accuse him of ‘going missing’ or being a ‘show pony’, and he certainly wasn’t as effectively in the 2nd half of last season after a blistering start, but I would still love him in our team now!

I thought Grant was pretty good yesterday personally. Felt like he was going to be the one to create something for them though granted I can only base it off when I've seen him which is once this year. A player like that with his ability I would always want in my team without question.

He’s been missing recently like you say, and when things ain’t going well it’s annoying to see him being a ‘show pony’

For me we have a suitable replacement in Khan and Grant is currently not playing well so he should be dropped, especially considering Khan did well. Just think he needs a kick.

Would drop him for tomorrow’s game.

We can’t afford yet another dismal performance from grant and quite a few others.

Dropping grant would be a 2 fold bonus in my view, Khan looked good when he came on and appears to have done well in training of late and it’ll hopefully give grant the kick up the backside he thoroughly deserves

Khan was our standout player earlier in the season before the injury, and he’s been incredibly unlucky that we was able to get Grant in.

I’d be disappointed if we don’t make a profit on him in the future, I still think the £100,000 we spent on him was a bargain.

I think Grant is a good player and I want him in the team as he has great technical quality (can't really think of many whose style I could compare him to), but I think he needs more experience. Sometimes he tries to flick in his own half when the odds aren't enough in his favour and the opposition are on top of us. At these times he would be better just moving from side to side and trying to lay it off so we can get back in possession. I don't want him to stop turning as that's what is part of his quality but I think he needs be a bit more selective and smarter.

Khan is also a good player but he's a bit too lightweight. He needs to throw himself around a bit more, win some of those shoulder to shoulder battles because at the moment he can be bullied out of it.

These comments both for and against by Mansfield fans are identical to the comments made in the second half of the season last season by our fans .

When Mansfield signed him , which was a definite coup , the same comments were made on here by Notts fans . Splits opinions , can be world class , match winner single handed on his day or dreadful , pointless and ineffective on another

Hence why Forest haven't given him a sniff for a couple of years and he keeps being loaned out probably.

We have had many a similar player, the reality is that is why they ply their trade in the lower leagues.
Consistency, or rather lack of it.
