Mansfield have seemed more intent on gloating at Chesterfield and Notts County then celebrating a couple of their better seasons in recent years the past two seasons! Even Vale and Crewe don’t do that to each other and we had the old famous 600 page thread a few years back!

I absolutely adore this weird football fan trait of considering two fans to be fully representative of ‘Mansfield’

I must admit I look at the table every Saturday to laugh a Chesterfield, it’s brilliant - it’s a rivalry which most don’t understand.

If Notts County go down it would be funny, admittedly, but ultimately I want them to come back up again so we can get our usual* three points and enjoy the friendly rivalry. Chesterfield can fuck off for life though :)

By Mansfield you mean Adam and El Spaniard Stag

Mansfield fans are regularly rounded up as one on here, we must be irritating

Seriously though people, it’s two fans doing a bit of wuming, MOST County fans (not all) can deal with it, unfortunately one/two are a bit sensitive to it. Not really ideal to be on a football forum and sensitive at the same time.

Maybe if the one or 2 (or maybe the same poster) didn’t do so much themselves it wouldn’t be an issue haha.

We’re a good bunch in general, but if folk can’t deal with banter, I don’t really care. Lol

Anyway, we should get back to the promotion thread.

I wish we could but I saw absolutely nothing on Saturday that made me think we can.

If Macc stay up it will be a great effort from where they were.

Get the impression they need new ownership/investment though otherwise they'll be in trouble again next season
If Macc stay up and Sol Campbell doesn’t get knighted then get ready for all the stories about the Queen being a racist.

I get the whole rivalry thing and we briefly had our day in the sun in the 90's over our lard neighbours.
But it hit home to me last season on the last day at Cambridge.
Stoke had been relegated at dinner time which we watched in a raucous party atmosphere in a Cambridge boozer.
3 hours later it was all forgotten as a disgraceful 5-0 defeat which flattered us saw us humiliated.
Whilst I dislike Stoke first and foremost it's what we do I'm bothered about.
Anything else is a bonus .
Can see both Mansfield and County sides.

Personally I don't delight in the demise of any club like Chesterfield and possibly County going non league because we are a relegation in waiting ourselves , though new owners may give us hope.

Any fan who doesn’t find the club they support the most important aspect cannot really be considered a fan can they?

I agree mate , though we appear to have some who gloat more about Stoke than concerning themselves with the fact that we have been dreadful for 3 successive years. Not on here but on our message boards and I've heard people in pubs after games.

Same with us (Bury) and Bolton. Bury fans laughing at Bolton being in turmoil while we can’t even pay players ourselves, absolutely daft.

Whilst we know we are the smaller club, I think a lot of it stems from perceived arrogance of Bolton fans towards Bury, I imagine the same with Stoke and Vale... so our fans seem to take any opportunity to get one back at Bolton, even if we are shite ourselves.

To be fair we played a very weakened side at Cambridge and most fans weren't arsed due to the lard going down. Thats rivalry and they've relished our failures even when in the Premiership singing about us, but its a proper city two way derby, the Cambridge tie was a dead rubber so wasn't really an issue.

That said it has nothing on the best relegation gloating we got to do against the lardies in 1998 as we won to stay up and send them and Man City down to League One (how times change)

The difference is to the Mansfield obsession with County that you don't have Vale fans posting on all the Stoke threads in the Championship forum etc, nor do you see them doing it on here, even relegating Crewe a couple of years back didn't have us on here jerking ourselves off to it which is probably a similar rivalry level.

Losing County would be tragic to the EFL as they are a huge part of history to it though, hope they stay up, even forgive them shithousing wins against us a couple of times, especially the 2-0 in league one a few years ago when they went all Graham Westley on us with Derry and Adams scrapping in the tunnel.

Now we are safe I will be cheering on them in their quest to survive.

Despite the fact you decided to ignore my previous post, it’s quite clear you have a obsession with Mansfield yourself. PS Mansfield and County are in the same league, so it’s a bit different to Vale/Stoke.

Whatever your problem is with Mansfield, join the bastard queue :P1:

I get no pleasure from seeing teams relegated. I just feel sorry for the fans and the club. Trouble is I think it's great when a team gets promoted and there's just no squaring that circle.

We don't have any big rivals now. All of ours are still in the non league game so it's hard to say how some of the neanderthals would react if ever one did get relegated. I'd like to think I would get no pleasure from it but....?

Just had a quick look at the remaining fixtures.

Gone for Yeovil 39, County 41 and Macc 44.

If Stoke were in the same league as you, you would want them to survive? Give over.

Yes and No, obviously would want to see them fail but the Potteries Derby is something else so losing that would be a shame, just had to see the atmosphere and chaos for the U21s in the Checkatrade from that, going to the full fixtures, lucky enough to go a few around the turn of the millennium (usually with a good outcome) and I miss those games!

You're all lucky you still have rivals.

Since Darlington reformed they mean very little to us now, but I used to hate them and would only wish the worst on them. It all stopped being funny once they fell out the league and even further when you realise you'll never have a proper derby again. Enjoy the piss taking and the banter whilst you can until the tables inevitably turn...

I agree with SL - we left our rivals behind over 20 years ago, and despite attempting many, nothing compares to true rivalry.

It’s rubbish when a long standing league club go down, can’t claim any logic to it, but I was disappointed to see Chesterfield go down last season, but not bothered by Barnet. Same with Orient, York, and Wrexham.

Obviously I made an exception with Mansfield, as I think they belong in the Conference, but it was nice that they made it back up again. Couple of extra thousand on the gate once a season is always handy.

Absolutely dreadful effort that, so many things to have a dig at Mansfield yet you decide to pick one that doesn’t stick....at all.

Anyway those ‘couple of extra thousand’ are barely helping are they? Considering you know, Notts County being a bit of a basket case.

The Crewe defeat has sent some of our lot a bit loopy. A battling performance with 10 men last week (and 3-0 win the week before) has been all but forgotten and swept aside in a tidal wave of rage by events at Gresty Road, and the players are once more a spineless bunch who deserve the drop. First the bus attack, now fans being warned about threats on social media, and bitterly arguing among themselves online.

It will be interesting to see the reaction of the players on Friday versus MK Dons, but I’m not sure we haven’t reached a sort of toxic tipping point at ML now.
