Content starting to get a bit more mainstream lately.

Watching Romero's Diary of the Dead at the moment, which although obviously quite poor is still much better than most of the zombie stuff being released recently.

Also just seen a trailer for The Mist, which I though was pretty good.

Glad to see this thread revived.

The Mist is very mainstream, quite like it and it's been on Sky Horror before.

Watched The Devils Rock yesterday which was pretty poor in the Nazi horror film stakes, a hotly contested category.

It has been decided that this thread will henceforth be a place to discuss, recommend and generally appreciate all things horror, hence the title change.

Film, literature, games, fire away..

Not sure if I actually have a favourite sub genre. Probably hauntings or slashers, I think.

Ghost films do it for me. I watched a lot of slasher films in my youth but they got boring.

Yeah me too, though I watched Paranormal Activity for the first time the other week and it was the biggest pile of horse shite I've seen in a long time.

I quite like Alien films. Paranormal when done well is excellent. The first Insidious film was my favourite horror film for years.

Na its a case of once bitten twice shy with me on that! :D

I do like my ghost stuff, they can be great fun, but there is too much cliched and hackneyed stuff about trying to be clever and thats when it all falls apart and is dull.

I fear it will get critically panned but I'm sure I'll enjoy it for what it is regardless.

As a stand alone film, yes. As a fan who wanted to see the loose ends tied up, I was pretty happy with it.

Scanners (1981) is on THC at 9pm.

One of my personal favourites and having thought about it I don't believe it made a single list in the 80's countdown.. :ohm:

Just saw a few minutes of this again before I came on here. Its a brilliant film, Michael Ironside is evil personified in it and its fantastic from start to finish even though the lead goodie is very wooden and sounds like he should be narrating adverts instead of acting. I'm ashamed to admit I forgot all about it when putting my list together, but its a must watch.

Event Horizon, one of the greatest. In fact, I'm going to find it and watch it again this week.

Event Horizon is fantastic. Probably my favourite film with Sam Neil in it.

Anyone seen the trailer for the new Poltergeist film? Looks awful.

Frankenstein's Army is pretty woeful but fairly hilarious to get the ball rolling.
Dead Snow is shown on Horror a fair bit as well if memory serves, although I've never managed to get to the end of it.

Anyone ever seen The Sentinel? New addition to Netflix.

Tonight I shall be watching Killer Clowns from Outer Space!

In a Glass Cage looks pretty grim.

Outpost, The Bunker and The Keep are all pretty shit. Did quite enjoy Dead Snow, not seen the sequel yet but I'm sure it'll be popping up on THC or Netflix soon enough.

Zombie Lake can be viewed in full on YouTube.

I've got a bit of a soft spot for The Keep. A barmy mess of a thing to be sure, but the atmosphere of it. Don't even like Tangerine Dream normally either.

Stretching the boundaries of "horror", but there's all the nazisploitation stuff as well. I can't really be doing with Isla, but Love Camp 7, Gestapo's Last Orgy et al have a certain je ne sais quoi (great case study of censorship too, half of em still banned whilst Salo gets a deluxe BFI bluray edition. Thank GOD we've got people qualified to decide which flavours of fascist sadism are culturally enriching and which ones are beyond the pale!).

Well shit, why draw the line at Nazi themed horror/exploitation films? The Imperial Japanese Empire were quite the sadistic bastards as well....

Has anyone seen Philosophy of a Knife? four hours of graphic re-enactments of Unit 731's party.
