Should be a great atmosphere, should be bouncing, hope the game is as good.

Buoyed by or opening day win, we will be in confident mood and I expect an attacking line up from us as we have both height and pace in our attack this season. So we can keep the low balls low and the high balls high and chase everything.

Sold out, how cute. No doubt queuing around the block for tickets just to catch a glimpse of us, young kids one day able to tell their own grandkids that they were there the day Bradford City came to town.

There’s no way we’ll sell out. I’m predicting 6k home fans max taking it to nearly 8k. Capacity is near 9k I think. A win will see a flux of part-timers attending the next game. I’m predicting a steady defeat, 0-2/3. As long as we don’t get embarrassed.

Yeah, it'll be one of those ones that looks completely full but is still somehow a thousand or two down.

Looks like Bradford struggled in a relatively easy opening match, so I'm a bit more confident than I was when the fixtures first came out. Hoping the midfield three get on the ball a bit more than they did at Morecambe, as they were bypassed a bit with how direct we were at times. Some more Max Wright game time would be great too.

I was thinking 1-1 too, funnily enough.

I’ll be a lot more confident if we go to 442, we played three decent strikers on Saturday and supplied them with nothing because we lacked numbers from midfield to get them the ball. Defensively we’re fine height wise so I’m not too worried about nullifying any aerial threat.

Lincolnshire, the only place Grimsby has ever been, but I'm afraid at the current moment that accolade belongs to our friends down the A46.

The term struggle is slightly misleading. We struggled to score, but didn’t struggle per se’.

I fancy us - 2-1

442 please

GK: Richard O’Donnell

RB: Kelvin Mellor
CB: Anthony O’connor
CB: Ben Richards-Everton
LB: Jackson Longridge

RW: Sean Scannell
CM: Matty Palmer
CM: Hope Akpan
LW: Jordan Gibson

ST: James Vaughan
ST: Clayton Donaldson

Harsh on Eoin Doyle and Adam Henley, but shape is more important - especially away at the cauldron of noise, that is Blundell Park.

Paudie O’connor could be back, but it will probably come too soon. I fancy our CB’s to neutralise Hanson and Green.

Akpan gets the nod over Anderson as he may be injured, but I feel Akpan has the physical edge over Anderson anyway.

Looking forward to this one. Pleased it’s kicking off at 1pm, too.

And that's what counts after all. Bradford may only have 1 point in the real league, but they are absolutely flying in the not-stuggling-per-se-table.

You grasp my point though, surely?

Or do you always purposely miss the point to suit your own conjecture?

Firthys right to be fair. We didn't struggle, we comfortably controlled the game. Shots, possession, xG and so on and so forth. Just didn't put it in the back of the net which is obviously what ultimately counts.

And that's the overriding point, in my opinion.

Struggled to score = struggled to win = struggled.

Also 22 shots but only 3 on target is piss poor. Were most of those shots speculative ones from outside the box? The only one I've seen is that overhead kick.

Also just realised Cambridge were down to 10 men for most of the second half too!

The finishing was simply poor. There was a fair few shots from inside the area placed wide.

The last half hour Cambridge sat deep following the red. Always makes it difficult.

I'm not making excuses or saying we were brilliant, we struggled to score I agree, but we didn't struggle in the match. We were comfortably in control without ultimately finishing the job.

We actually have a decent ‘recent’ record against Grimsby. I don’t think they have beaten us since 1998.

This fixture is known for a red card or two.

My prediction:
The ball hoofed from the Marriner's defence, up to Hanson’s 50p head once again finds a City player; frustrated Green, who has spent all game in BRE’s pocket, gives him a piece of his mind and Hanson retaliates by throwing a can of Co-op beans at Greeny’s head.

Biblical.

You are correct. The last 5 league meetings at BP have seen 4 Bradford wins and one draw. About time to stop that on Saturday I think and as you say our last win was in 1998 in Division One (Championship). Since that game there have been 12 games between us resulting in 9 Bradford wins and 3 draws.

Despite that though I still have happy memories of Valley Parade thanks to this brilliant game. What a team we had back then!

The supporters group I’m going with are taking 3 coaches, but we’re stopping somewhere en route not far from the ground. Any ideas where and what this might be?

Mansfield is a bit out of the way from Bradford so it's unlikely to be there.

Stop taking offence to a shithole, being a complete shithole.

Why do you keep bringing up Mansfield on threads then complaining afterwards, it’s got nothing to do with this thread :bang:

I didn't bring Mansfield up, you did, its just very unlikely that's where they will be stopping.
