It's the 1FF Isthmian Classico tomorrow - Hornchurch v Kingstonian.
If I had to attribute a colour to how the start of the season has gone for us it would be grey. Not quite white, not quite black... 3 games, 3 ties & 3 points. Stark contrast to our east London opponents who have 2 wins & 1 tie...
0-0, 1-1 & now 3-3 in the first 3 league games. I'm usually a glass half empty kind of guy but I'm much more happier about the zero in the 'L' column than I am sad about the zero in the 'W' coloumn right now.
Ex K as well. We had him on loan for a period of time from (I think) Reading as a youth player around the mid 2000's. Frustrating to be held to a tie against 10 men, even being a goal down for the entirety of the first half, but I keep rewinding my mind 365 days & suddenly nothing Kingstonian...
WE DIDN'T LOSE!
I'll take the 0-0 tie with a team that's just been promoted in to the Isthmian Premier over the 3-2 defeat to start last season that saw is reduced to 9 men.
Wingate & Finchley away tomorrow for the K's in match day #2.
Can not wait for Saturday to indulge in my favourite pastime of having my blind optimism crushed. Hopefully we start the season off better than last time round... having a manager who has actually achieved something before coming to us means we're already on better ground. Not releasing a news...
23 Oct H Bognor Regis
16 Nov H Lewes
23 Nov H Horsham
7 Dec H Merstham
Out of those I'd suggest the Merstham game, could be a bit spicy given we've now got their manager & half their squad from last season.
To answer my own question...
BetVictor with the Step 3 & 4 monopoly sponsoring all three regions so I'd assume 'BetVictor Isthmian League' will be the full sponsored title so as not to get it confused...
Seconded. Their fans are nothing but a class act too; I remember this one time (in band camp) where one of their fans couldn't help himself but run on to the field of play to tell our captain Francis Duku what a wonderful job he was doing.
Sometimes an incorrect kit is more valuable than the finished article. Theres a (comparatively) legendary K's shirt where the badge was incorrectly placed off centre a little bit which has gone down in Kingstonian folklore.
