We're looking at a couple of strikers in the conference. They're believed to be Macaulay Bonne of Leyton Orient and Oladapo Afolayan of Solihull Moors.

We're reportedly close to signing Simon Church on a free.

Weird one but can't play much worse than our current strikers are.
Strange case Simon Church - Looks like the best season of his career will end up being his first (10 Championship goals) aged 21.

Kept Charlie Austin out of our team in his academy days. Kept Shane Long out of our team in his early senior appearance days. But they have both long since surpassed him. I can't remember any major injuries either.

He has a little bit of everything, but not a lot of anything..

A little of something would be better than what we have at the moment. Church's anticipation of a Posh back pass led to our winning penalty last Saturday. That alone shows he has some intelligence in reading the play. I understand that the problem with him may be his fitness. He was out for much of last season at Roda JC. We have given him a short term contract (until January), which will give us the chance to check his fitness in training and in game time. I see it as a win-win signing. If he is not up the mark, as has been said on here, then we let him go in January. It is worth a shot and Alexander has to do something, as we are struggling to score goals.

How's Morris performed this season?

Morris is our most influential player going forward. Top scorer with most assists. I know that we have been very poor this season, but Morris is a winger/midfielder and still is our biggest threat. He seems moodier this season, but is still a match winner.

Craig Davies did little for us last season, but seems to have found his place with you. How's he doing?

Better than I though he would do tbh. Scored in 5 consecutive games earlier in the season, but he's used more to help Doyle (despite Doyle having more assists). Holds the ball up well, scores when he gets the chance. Very pleased with him so far. Also doesn't seem to be as batshit crazy as he was when he was last with us, when we thought he was a red card waiting to happen.

Doyle & Davies have 16 goals and 6 assists between them in 15 games this season, so he's clearly doing a job for us!

We couldn't cope with Davies at FP. Was a menace all day. Doyle got the goals, but Davies scared the life out of our defence

I believe Davies turned down an offer from us to move to Oldham. Looks a good decision on his part, as he is getting regular game time and producing the goods. Since he's spent a lot of time in your part of the country with yourselves, Wigan, PNE and Bolton, I guess he is more at home there too. With Scunny, he never really had a run in the side and he was not particularly welcomed by the supporters.

Just signed Ryan McGivern on a short term contract. Think it'll be just as a backup. Well I hope it is anyway.

I don't think it was mentioned on here but we signed Toumani Diagouraga 4 games ago. Experienced with Brentford and Leeds in the past few years.

In those 4 games we've been unbeaten the bloke is a class act in the middle. Carey has also found his form from last season which is no coincidence.

Simon Church turned us down for Scunthorpe so it can't be quality of life he's after. (Probably quality of football instead).

With our 4 keepers injured Remi Matthews joined us on emergency loan from Norwich and has done a good job so far.

Knew he was on trial with Argyle, but didn't realise he was offered something. Cannot imagine it being much, if he has taken a short term deal with us up to January. Definitely, not probably, for the quality of football though.

Vultures starting to circle. Interest in Morsy from Derby and Norwich. Can’t see us entertaining any thought of selling him in January when his value will double in summer.

Plus if you get rid of him then it’s pretty likely you’ll prevent us from keep it Byrne beyond Jan.

We are apparently close beating Blackburn, Doncaster & Coventry to the signing of Dundalk midfielder Patrick McEleney.

Supposedly a very tidy attacking midfielder capable of scoring a worldie or two.

We've signed Leon Best on a two-month deal.
Desperately need more options up top, a two-month contract keeps him until the end of January, hopefully the thinking is to spend some money on a striker in the window. Doubt it though.

Been linked over the weekend with Jamie Walker at Hearts and Louis Moult at Motherwell. Both out of contract in the summer so we’re fishing for a bargain. Good news that Cook appears to agree with the majority that we need a quick winger and striker. Also we were the L1 club that was sniffing around Marcus Maddison in the summer according to Posh’s Chairman. Didn’t bid, just made an enquiry.

What’s Ruben Lameiras like?

He’s apparently training with us despite (apparently) being contracted to Plymouth.

Technically great but very lightweight, would probably have got blown over playing up north this weekend.

We signed him as a failsafe if Carey left in the summer. Carey didn’t leave and we don’t have room for 2 flair players in our system really so he’s not featured at all after being our star in pre season.

Think he can make a good player as long as his role doesn’t require tackling or heading. We won’t lose sleep about having him off the wage bill though.

We've been linked to Moult too, worth a punt I reckon

Oldham look set to sign Patrick McEleney in January after his contract at Dundalk expired.

Said to be a livewire playmaker, who's good on free kicks.

Doyle to Scunthorpe Oldham can't afford his high wages.
