Port Vale was a vanity project and my guess is it won't be long until Salford average more than Vale.

Sorry but do not understand your argument? Please explain because it sounds like nonsense?

The name of your club is a massive clue. It's Cobridge Church I feel sorry for - their club was stolen from them Wimbledon style.

I'm bored so.....BUMP!

Is this too early? Nah I don't think so. Hate to say I told you so but Salford bringing in talented chaps on big £££ like Rooney and Gaffney means sweet FA in a physical league like the Connie.

It's hard to take a statement like that one seriously tbh. Saying Salford will make the PL in 8 years time is simply disregarding all the other league sides that stand in their way.

Second point is I'm sure Salford won't be joining us next year. The reason is that all the other National League sides will play like its their cup final when they come up against them. Just like they always do when some big ex-league side go down and their cocky fans say they'll walk the league.

Dude, it really is way too early. Tranmere had a 3-4-5 record after 12 games in late September of last season. They were sat 18th.

Ok, they had 5th tier experience you say.

Well, what about Fylde? They had a 3-7-5 record after 15 games last season, they were 19th. Ok, they didn't get promoted, but they still made the play-offs.

It is not a surprise to see Salford struggle to adapt straight away with a manager and a lot of players that don't know the level. But teams with the sufficient quality often pull it together by the end of the season. They might not win the division, but all they have to do is make the play-offs and with more now making it, they have a good chance.

Saying I told you so at this stage is a bit daft, could backfire big time come May.

Worked with Crawley, so yeah it's definitely too early.

They also can bring in more players due to the limited transfer window in the NL. Surprised they’ve started so poorly and would be delighted if that continues, but still expecting Salford to make the play-offs

TBH, I wasn't being wholly serious with my post as only the biggest idiots on earth make up their minds only two weeks into the new season. Just like reading too much into pre-season friendlies.

Still, I don't reckon they'll go up this season, though I fully expect them to make the play offs. After all, it's not really that hard now to achieve that with six play off spots up for grabs. Not that hard for a bankrolled side that is.

We've sold out 1500 at their place next week and have been turned down for more tickets despite hundreds saying they will go in the home end. Could be fun for them

This needs to be moved to the non league section. Got fuck all to do with league 2.

Nah, leave it here so when/if the club we follow is having a shite season we could always look at this thread and think 'oh it could've been worse, at least we don't support a club with a 20 million pound playing budget that will still be in the connie this time next year, playing the likes of Bwood and Bromley'.

I’m not saying that this is definitely the case here, but the amount of times this shite gets said by clubs (ourselves included in the past) and then only about 10 away fans actually do end up going in the home end.

So true fishy. Always pre game talk of hundreds going in home end. A goal goes in and you see a handful a most celebrate

Always had this debate on Stagsnet when we play teams that sell out the away end.

Fact is that very few football fans find going in the home end attractive when the away allocation has sold out.

Nathan Pond, Danny Lloyd and 3 or 4 others shouldn't be anyway near Salford if their intentions were right.
By which you presumably don't mean that they should look to earn as much as they can during a short career?

Not at all. My point more being that those players haven't dropped down, two leagues in Lloyd and Pond's case, for footballing reasons.

Yeah I think that's fair enough, I just don't think it's fair to criticise footballers at this level for thinking about money.

These players aren’t ameteur you know. Even at L1 you’re earning £2k+ a week... then you finish your career and become a sports scientist or fitness coach with the contacts you’ve made.

They don’t go on the dole after their career because they decided not to sign for Salford aged 27.

A couple of years of earning £100k doesn't set you up for the rest of your life - as you say, they all have to get jobs after. None of those jobs sound as good as being a footballer, and a massive pay rise means they can retire a good few years earlier. I'd do it too.

The Viking Magpie’s “A Series Of Unfortunate Events”:

They’re non league!! Who cares ? Until they reach the EFL they can enjoy the odd cup upset and that’s ya lot

It’s nice to follow the results of a non league side, give them some support from a higher echelon.

In fact it wasn’t long ago that I did the same with Mansfield Town FC for a few seasons during their Blue Square phase

Quite possibly as I like to keep an eye on local East Midlands non league outfits, it’s either them or sticking with Torquay following their further relegation

Until they reach L2, they don’t register with me. Non non-league story

This a golden stuff I tells ya, golden.

Once they arrive in the football league, then we’ll discuss properly. Until then, ur just non league

Turned out alright for him. Now he's got a non league outfit right on his doorstep to keep an eye out for.

Personally until Notts reach League 2 they don't register with me. They're non league, who cares!

Oh dear I've suddenly realised I may be on the same slippery slope The Viking Magpie now finds himself on.

Are there actually any Salford fans on this forum.

Can't say I've come across any yet.
