Just read the tweets from Yeovil fans when Fisher announced he was leaving last month. Not one of the 70 or so posts were negative which says a lot.

I, like most of our fans, was really disappointed and angry to see him leave. He's a fantastic guy and gives absolutely everything for the cause. If he gets the service he will score goals, his hattrick at Notts County last September was a perfect example. You've got a good signing there. Will be a fans favourite.

Wow, I had noticed all of them but the bigger picture had kind of gone under the radar a bit. I'd imagine DV will let some of that Brown/Doidge money into the budget, but next few signings key.

Agreed. Jonah was excellent for us as well. Not sure how old Dean Windass was when he got four goals against us for Bradford in the League Cup (and a standing ovation from everyone in the ground), but he was another. I'll also mention Ian Henderson, who is 34 and has averaged 16+ goals per season for the last five years in League 1, and will hopefully do the same again next season.

Reid fell out with Cooper but wasn’t going to play anyway 3rd/4th Choice. Campbell was the mistake. We let him leave on Loan in January when Doidge returned which was a big mistake. Then his contact was up and we didn’t offer him new terms. He’s a very good player and young will probably do very well if given game time and can see him going up the leagues and Cheltenham getting a payday.

Pretty stupid to let Reid go on a Free though if we knew Doidge was going.

It’s Looking mid table at best now unless we get a couple of decent strikers from somewhere

Deano would’ve been 35/36. I recall that game well, he was unplayable.

Bang on mate. If they look after themselves age is irrelevant, with some of the players on the way down if the football brain is above the level they are playing at the pace they lack is made up with the reading of the game.

I'll be honest I had the ''too old'' attitude until Jonah arrived, he was the most uninspiring signing ever but ended up being one of my favourite City players who embodied what every fans wants from their skipper. He showed that in the L2 promotion and cup runs, brilliant memories.

To be fair one of the best midfielders in the division is Neal Bishop and he will be 38 soon I think, but that’s a rare example.

Was he really though? He gambled and took money out of Paragon to try fund Notts. Alan Hardy himself never had that money.

Being ‘worth’ something doesn’t just mean having £100m to withdraw out of your local NatWest, but just to clarify I’m not suggesting what El staggo is, just making a point that anything is possible.

We may be selling two more of our title winning side to Championship clubs later this week, not sure how true the information is I was told though. But I am prepairing for the worst.

Will be gutted if it happens though. Already lost out two main strikers - Who were both expected to go.

I think we're looking at signing players for transfer fees, now that we have around £800k in the bank, but who knows.

Saying it’s not rare and coming up with six names is taking the piss.

Considering every team has 20+ professionals in a squad there’s not more than a decent handful or two really, to me that’s rare shag, just think hard for a minute - get a rough figure of total players in L1/2 then compare that to every decent ‘pro’ of that age.

Oh Christ please don’t get el staggo started though.

Older players can have quality, Michael Brown was solid for us in L1 (as a player not manager mind!) and can go back to the likes of Danny Sonner for example.

Bishop is one of them, bit of a thug, uses experience well and clearly kept in good shape.

Kevin Ellison is pretty much eligible for a bus pass and still doing it for Morecambe week in, week out!

My point was that you shouldn't judge somebody on their age, which you shouldn't and the names above prove my point that you can play at a good level if you look after yourself. Because I can't be arsed looking up every player that has played at 36+ but there is plenty go look it up.

Bish attributes his performance at such a late (football) age due to becoming a professional footballer not until his mid-twenty’s so a lot less pre-seasons etc on his body.

There’s some fantastic near 40s players but they are definitely a rare breed.
