Severnside was a proposed stadium near the M49 / M5 junction and Carsons was a planned site in Mangotsfield, years ago. Far too close to my place! :( There was talk of a stadium in South Glos a few years ago too so that's 6. As a South Glos resident, you can, with all possible respect do one! ;)
There are so many reasons why it won't happen that this one might just get built but where the finance comes from is questionable IMHO. Why would an investor buy the land, build a stadium and pay off Wael's debts with no possible return? I just don't get it unless it's someone like Lansdown.
The other problem would be the proposed city centre move, that could scupper it as it will be prime development land. You only have to look at the proposals for the feeder regeneration to see what's going on. Finally, do you really want a stadium in a predominantly City area? :box:

I do think Wael has jumped the gun big time and made a mistake by going public with this TBH Gassy, probably to stop people moaning at him. He's nothing more than a chancer isn't he?
Do talks/rumours count as promises though? :P1: I more meant ones there the club submitted planning permission.

I agree, these people will have to be mega rich - at best (with maths on a piece of paper) they could make £60-70m on the Mem land if they developed that to housing. As far as I know we don't have any owners in Lansdown's league, unless Dyson is a Gashead.. Apparently the ones involved are involved in construction and are 'experts in construction redevelopment', or something like that.

I have 2 ways of looking at it:
1. They must mean serious business, otherwise why buy the land for the £££ it will cost?
2. This is another future promise ready to be broken

RE Wael, I have no idea. I think he means well, but honestly I don't even care. I'm just sick of it. I don't quite believe this 'fantasist' stuff going round. I think he did jump the gun, yeah but I also don't think it's quite as bad as some of the anti-Wael'ers are making out

Nope, Wael has 'charges' against the land value of ~£15M plus the land is held by a different company, not BRFC. It sounds like Wael has got you over a barrel TBH Gassy.
To make you feel even happier, guess who you're gonna be facing on Saturday? :)

Ok so £15m, rather than £20m. Still, develop that into housing & they'd make a very nice profit at least. Whilst it's not owned by BRFC, it wasn't before. Can't remember what the holding company was before. But most likely it will be part of the sale, otherwise the club has no value.

Haha yeah saw that, this could be exactly what we need in terms of lifting atmosphere & demanding the passion/fight. I expect every tackle to be 2 footed with an elbow at the same time.

Even if we forfeit the game 3-0 from too many red cards, I class that as a win

Hasn't the land still got a covenant on it Gassy? I know it used to have one.
The atmosphere at the mem on Saturday should be quite interesting to say the least. Is it Matty Taylor your ex goal scoring hero heading back or is it 'Matty Taylor is a red, he hates rovers'? ;)
He's OOC in the summer, you might get him back for nothing but won't if you give him a load of shit. :pond:

We couldn't afford Taylor anymore - he's rumoured to be on £14k+

Unless he takes a huge drop in wages, most L1 teams can't afford those wages. He really needs to set the world on fire for Oxford because otherwise he'll drift back to where we found him.

He would never come back here anyway, so it's not an issue either way.

RE the covenant, no a clue

We won't be paying anything like that just like with Luke Garbutt's loan last season we only paid around £2.5k of his reported £28k weekly wage at Everton.

We have reduced the playing budget a bit this season apparently but that could be accounted for in not carrying injuries like Carruthers, Holmes plus Robbie Hall will be on a deal far more weighted towards pay as you play. Plus we have added a number of promising young pros who will be part of the u23 squad/back up 1st squad members (Lopes, Nico Jones, Lofthouse, Berkoe etc).

Well exactly, no one except Sunderland can afford to pay that wage in L1 - so when his contract runs out he'll have to take a massive pay cut. If he wants a good wage next season he really needs to score 15 goals to show he's still got it at this level (which I'm sure he does)

He's just bought a new house locally to us so if he enjoys his 3rd spell with us then it will be made permanent next summer imo, with the obvious pay cut.

£12k Taylor is on, Charlton offered to pay 1/4 of that. Deal would've gone through if our deal for Nketiah didn't.

He'll score a shit load in that side.

Our game tomorrow has been called off by Bolton without permission from the EFL not sure where they stand in regards to punishment but it’s highly unlikely that there won’t be one. Not sure if we can claim the points either?

Parkinson was going on about the welfare of the young players, ffs they are 18/19 not 14. It's just a stalling tactic to try and get some better players signed for any rearranged game.
Exactly, and to do it this late as well ffs

We sent men to war at 18 to fight for our country. Age is not an excuse.

I can guarantee if Bolton hadn't just been thumped 5-0 at Tranmere this wouldn't even be a discussion, plenty of players in the Premier League have played at a younger age, they need a further points deduction for this and Doncaster should be financially compensated.

Away at MK for us tomorrow.

Be interesting to see which three Cowley choose from Shackell, Bolger, Bostwick and O'Connor because we played Bostwick in midfield on Saturday but O'Connor's better suited there, Bolger has had a great start to the season and Shackell's our best CB! Good decisions to have to make I suppose.

There won't be 5,500 Imps there like last season but we'd sold 1,000 last I heard so still should be a half decent turn out.

Feels like a big week for us with MK and Donny away followed by Everton at home.

Chairboys at home tomorrow and after their good start will fancy themselves for a point ( or three ) We did a lot right at Donny, apart frem conceding 3 goals and losing in the process
Great chance to put things back on track, McAleny has broken is duck, Madden scores every time he plays and Morris is a continual threat down the wing
A hard fought 2-1 win for the Coda ( oh yes we need to put the muzzle on Fred Oney ! )

If the likes of Gilbey and Healey are on the bench again then I'm fully expecting us to lose comfortably. I'm not quite sure that Cargill is quite fit enough yet either, so hopefully Walsh is ok to step in as we've looked more assured with him in the team than out of it.

Peterborough travel to Roots Hall for a comfortable victory tomorrow, they haven't started well so we may only lose 0-2.

Our lads were shattered at the weekend. Missing Husband/Nuttall still.

I reckon we'll lose this one.
