    Best Away Day Ever!

I thought it would have been your visit to Prenton Park a few weeks later.

Carlisle v Tranmere (The Cole Stockton cometh)

I have just seen the penalty incident again and I don't think it should have been given. There is absolutely no contact between Davies and the forward, who hurdles him while he is lying on the ground.

Carlisle v Tranmere (The Cole Stockton cometh)

I won't debate the penalty decision as it is irrelevant, because it was missed. :bg: I thought the game was drifting to a nil-nil draw prior to the penalty, which would have been a fair result to that point. Both sides played some decent football but were lacking in the final third, with...

Carlisle v Tranmere (The Cole Stockton cometh)

Probably our toughest game of the season so far and I would be happy with a point. Carlisle's squad does not look that flashy on paper, but Sheridan is obviously doing a good job there. As for Cole Stockton, I think he has played well since returning, but other than Norwood none of our strikers...

Total attendance at Tranmere was 5,885. No away figure as yet, but it will be about 150.

Hopefully we will be another example in the next 5-10 years. We are certainly in a much better place now than we were five years ago.

It was still an encouraging performance from us with a complete second string, barring a kamikaze final twenty minutes. However, I doubt Shamal George will play for us again after that showing. A reasonable gate as well, unfortunately, although it will be interesting to see what we get for the...

It did not look like 1,000 Cambridge fans on the TV. The away end was a lot fuller for our match there on the opening day.

    Northampton v Tranmere

I don't think we were consciously being negative, we just were not at the races today. We did not pass the ball as we have been doing and it was our poorest performance of the season. I think a draw was a fair result. You had long periods of possession but did not really test Scott Davies, and...

    Northampton v Tranmere

Ash Taylor was a good player for us in a succession of poor teams, and I have got nothing against him. I am glad he has had a decent career. As for Saturday, I would be delighted with a point. I think about 6-700 Rovers fans will travel.

Look back at August, forward to September

I would not say we have got no strength in depth. We currently have five defenders injured but we can still put a good back four out. Similarly, we have got plenty of cover in the wide areas. However, if Norwood or Banks got injured we would be in trouble.

    Birkenhead vs Burslem

Yes, I agree, although they did play some decent football when we were a man short, with Doughty impressive.

    Birkenhead vs Burslem

Yesterday was probably the poorest of our home performances so far, partly due to the negative approach of the opposition, but we still comfortably deserved to win. I think a lot of opposing supporters read 'newly promoted NL team' and then assume prior to the game we are going to be crap, and...

That was on a Tuesday night when we were 17th in the National League. We play you on New Year's Day. When we visited on 1st January a couple of years ago we brought 1,700.

    Birkenhead vs Burslem

We saw a lot of Oyeleke in our NL years and he always looked a good player. Aldershot were one of the better footballing sides at that level.

I thought it was strange you were playing Kay in centre midfield at his age. I did not realise you had players out in that position. I thought Montano was your best player today, defensively and going forward.

    Birkenhead vs Burslem

A well deserved victory that should have been by a bigger margin. The back four were immense for us and Luke McCullough looks a really good signing; a midfield water carrier who can also a play a bit. Vale's performance had Gary Brabin written all over it. They played five at the back and...
