Woeful referee and the Carlisle lad should be ashamed of the play acting there. Got it on ifollow and stunned, didn’t even think he had given a yellow.

Played alright, should of scored a couple with one off the line and Miller missing a sitter. Hope a danger and have to watch his diving! Dreadful that.

Big ask now with ten men. Referee gifted Carlisle this.

Carlisle dont look like a top 5 team so far. I'll be happy with a point now, but Aspins substitution is bizarre. He needs to go if we lose.

Surely injury as Clark has been causing problems. Defensively Carlisle are there for the taking if we can keep Hope quiet at the other end but with a man down it’s a huge ask.

Another home defeat. Easy to blame the red card but set up with 5 defenders and 2 holding midfielders at home you’re literally asking for this. Aspin should go but he won’t.

Absolute travesty we’ve lost that in fairness despite the extra man the goal is the only chance they had. Gutting game to lose as we’d done everything spot on and left them knocking about on half way.

Referee was a disgrace, good claim near the end for a penalty but was never going to get it with the way the clown in the middle was today.

Very frustrated although feel we should of been more positive first half as Carlisle looked very much there to be taken.

As bad as we were, Carlisle were just as bad and didn't look like scoring. We can feel hard done to today, but woeful set up again from Aspin. He can't remain if we lose on tuesday. The crowd reflected the football with another woeful gate. Fans are staying away in huge numbers now. Where do we go from here?

No way would we have been as bad as we were at Northampton otherwise we’d have lost. So if we were bad, we weren’t that bad.

Another win to keep us ticking over, but a season defining week ahead. We’ve weakened the squad significantly, what we do between now and Thursday will determine whether we make the most of this opportunity and go for it or we drop into mid table.

Away Tuesday but need to see who comes in as this second striker. Not sure if we will appeal the red as it costs money doesn’t it!

Elliott looked decent when he came on, their lad had to rugby tackle him twice late on! Might be something there as he gets up to speed from US college level.

I was fairly chilled and didn’t see them scoring, may have even been an og of Connell? Disappointing and hope it doesn’t knock confidence. Big couple of games this week now if we win Tuesday we have breathing space.

I also thought it was an own goal, and as bad as we were I thought we would get a point. We could have easily won today with an attack minded manager.

Thank you Port Vale for being so negative. :)

We would surely have lost if you had been just slightly more aggressive. So credit goes to your manager for our continued good run!

Kewell at the game today! Can’t stand the bloke but Aspin seems to be on a knife edge.

Play like that away and go for the jugular at home. If we are that negative against Morecambe and Yeovil we won’t get anything in the big six pointers at home.

Interesting........I'd happily take him over Aspin.

Kewell was on our final 4 man shortlist before we gave the job to Pressley.

Going off the radio, and the stats after the game I think it sounds like we're really missing the pace of Nadesan and Yates up front. Fingers crossed we get Yates back, and hopefully someone else to fill the hole, and hopefully McCarron will continue to grow as I thought he's been excellent the last couple of games. If we'd had the squad we had a few games ago we may well have won comfortably as even before the sending off, Port Vale stopped offering much going forward. We can at least grind these sorts of win out, defend well and keep plugging away until we put a chance in, which you do need to do a lot in this division, you can't just streamroller everyone all the time.

You can't tell from the highlights whether the straight red was deserved, but going off what some of the Vale fans have been commenting afterwards it was the hoodwink of the century, a shameful dive from Grainger and all-round cheating from Carlisle. He did lunge in rather clumsily, with both feet and whether he got anything on the ball or whether Grainger made too much of the challenge is hard to tell either way, you've got to think if you make that sort of tackle that a red card is a possibility, it's a silly thing to do and Miller owns up to that himself after the game. can't see it being rescinded.

Great win that, puts us 5 clear inside the playoffs. We definitely need some bodies in this week, getting Yates back would be huge. See the new lad went off injured too, we can't just let this position go to waste so they've got to spend some money and give Pressley every chance of getting us up.

I didn't go so can only go off the telly.
You don't even give the ref an opportunity to send you off, what a pointless diving in just to force a throw in.
Grainger got loads last season here , one of those vile twats who his own fans love but the other 23 clubs just think he's a wanker. Play acting would be one of his assets I'd imagine.
I can see why it was given but needless.

My love for Vale diminishes by the day.
Have no inkling to pay 20 quid , freeze my Conker's off and watch a team scared to play.

Why 26 days on from his toys out of pram at Lincoln is Aspin even still here .

Absolutely staggering but please please on the name of God it cannot be that odious turd Kewell . Let's hope the fact he was at the game was just as a cure for his insomnia

Wasn’t two footed on the still originally but the trailing leg caught him through momentum. Tackle that didn’t need to be made or ask questions of the referee but baffling all the same. Oddly the referee originally sent Miller away and appeared to not give anything other than a free kick and Yatesy on ifollow was saying it’s a yellow at worst... then the referee appeared to lecture him as they are walking away and then gets the red out to the shock of everyone. Why not just get the red out? Unless worried Miller was going to lamp Grainger one!

We’ve only got ourselves to blame though again as hard luck as it was with that and a double deflected own goal had we taken the two glorious chances we had prior to that it wouldn’t have mattered with Miller bending over from 8 yards and then having time to make a cup of tea before shooting but taking a snap shot on the turn when he could of took a touch or two and slotted home.

We need goals and we need to set up with one holding midfielder at most at home. It works away but when a team comes to Vale Park most dont attack, Carlisle sat in first half and tried to get us on the counter so why do you need both Kay and Joyce on the field!

It’s been an issue for six weeks and an obvious one in terms of setting up at home so why hasn’t he cottoned on yet?

Looked soft but I agree with Darren above, Miller should not have given the referee a decision to make especially in that part of the pitch.

Either way we lost due to our negativity, even with 11 on the pitch can anyone say with confidence we would have remotely threatened them given how we set up?

Its too much of a risk to keep Aspin setting us up like that for our remaining games. Hes got to go just in the hope that we can get someone in who will actually let us play.

Over to you Norman.

We’d had the two Miller chances and Mannys drive cleared off the line so may well have taken a chance 11 v 11 but should be starting two up front really!

I’ve watched it back. Hard to tell whether he made contact or not, but if you watch the bit after I’m pretty sure Anthony Gerrard went up to Miller and said he didn’t think it was a red, or that it was harsh.

That said, it was an idiotic challenge to make when there was no need, whether he made contact or not. Kinda deserved the red for being so stupid.

I’ve also looked back at Hope’s “dive” and that looks harsh. To me it looks like the keeper took him out. But Impossible to tell 100%.
