I want to try to revive the somewhat quiet as of late Wrestling section, so as well as getting started on Superstar Wars I'm going to do one of these bad boys.

Back on TFF, I stole Don Tonberrys top 50 video games thing and did a top 100 wrestlers of all time thread. People then credited that with being the thing that started off the whole listing phenomena, so I totally stole all of Dons glory there. AND NOW IT'S BACK!

Only this time, I want to focus on the here and now, rather than doing the best of all time.

So... here's what ye do:

Send me a list of up to 15 WRASSLERS via PM, in order (with your number 1 being at the top and thus scoring more points, ect). These must be current day wrestlers. I'm going to put the qualifying criteria as saying that they must have wrestled at least one match in the last year (so between July of last year and now) for any major promotion. So we're not just talking WWE here, include TNA, NXT, ROH, whatever.

I'm going to allow tag teams for this, as well. Which may bring up some complications, but I'm just going to try to generalize it all judging by how the majority have voted. So for example, if 1 list had "Devon Dudley" on it, and I had 2 with "Bubba Ray" and another 4 more with "The Dudley Boyz", I'd end up just merging those individual Devon and Bubba votes into being more votes for The Dudley Boyz. This means that tag teams can get involved as a team and hell, if people really do prefer one partner over the other, I guess it'll show in the voting anyway so I'll just list those guys as individuals.

So yeah, send me lists. I'm not gonna set a deadline for this yet... but by all means, don't take all damned day about it!

3 lists in so far, nice. Already have 30 names on it so far  Nice variation on there.

And yes, as asked in one of the lists, divas are allowed!

The only diva/KO I really care about is Velvet Sky (for undisclosed reasons) and I checked the TNA roster and she wasn't on there. I've only just started regularly watching wrestling again so I'm not sure if she's wrestled in the last year.

It depends really... if it's just like one thing, that won't be too bad. But if you want to like entirely rework the thing that's gonna be a pain in the ass to sort out...

Right, I sort of told myself that when I got my next list in, I'd get this going. And Bish sent a list today so... here we go.

I got a grand total of 7 lists in at the end. Lower than I'd hoped, but fuck it, let's do this. At least it means that those who did actually vote will see their own votes go further and count for more.

Before we go, here are some FACTS:

There are a total of 40 wrestlers in the list altogether.
3 of them are Women.
29 of them, as of right now, are in WWE in some capacity. The other 11 entries are currently not related to WWE at all. And some non-WWE talents have actually done pretty well for themselves
7 Entries are tag teams.

First, the one pointers! The people who were on the brink of missing out altogether, but just about scraped 15th place on a single list. They are...

Joint 38th:

Rusev

Awesome-WWE-Rusev-Wallpapers-HD-Pictures.jpg

The current WWE United States Champion. Had a heck of a run the first time he held the title, nearly remaining unbeaten for a year until he got Cena'd. Went off of the boil for a long time after that, but he's finally beginning to get back to where he was now. Give him a few more months of doing what he's doing and I feel as if he'd be higher on this list.

Jay Lethal

jaylethaltvchampcopy.0.0.png

I have to say, I've not really seen much of this guy, which is probably to my own shame. All I have seen is when he did a spot on Macho Man character and then copied Ric Flair as well, and he was fucking hilarious. I probably need to check him out more.

Samoa Joe

joe.jpg

Was always one of the main guys I wanted to see jump ship from TNA to WWE and I was delighted when he did so. I love how WWE have used him so far, he comes across as an absolute destroyer, which is how he should be used. Rumours are flying around that a full WWE call up is near in Joes future... and I can't wait for that. I was the only person to vote for Joe, which is a heck of a shame!

I'll do one more tonight, as we're getting started. The people getting just two points, appearing on a single list, are:

Joint 36th:

The Revival:

therevival.jpg

Damn, I wish I had these guys on my list. I actually think that they're about the most understated thing going in WWE right now... whenever people talk about exciting things in NXT or WWE, I never see The Revival brought up. But they're actually really fucking good, in my view.
In recent months they've featured in some outstanding matches with the likes of American Alpha and Gargano/Ciampa. And it's always the other team that takes the credit... but they're always the one, consistent, entity. They've got a heck of a knack of being in great tag matches, working in the background while the other, more flashy/technical team gets the plaudits. But their in ring psychology/pacing/just playing the bastard heel team is another level to any other team for me. I really hope to see more credit come their way in the future.

Nope. Never heard of this one. Care to elaborate on this one Bish?

He's a guy that was on the brink for me and then I rammed him in above Rusev at the last second. He's just great - rose to prominence in Lucha Underground as a monster heel that turned up randomly and broke people's arms to please his 'master'. In the ring he's a superb all-rounder, great on the mic, connects with the audience brilliantly and is also great in tag matches with his little brother (who appears next on my list).

In hindsight, I probably should have put Marty Scurll at 14 (I really should have put him in my top 15, I'm an idiot) but who gives a fuck about anyone outside the top 10.

I kind of threw my list together but I'm going through all the old WWF/WCW/ECW PPVs at the moment so I reckon, if I ever finish them, I'll have a completely different list than the one I submitted.

Moving on is a tag team on 4 points...

34th:

Matt and Nick Jackson - The Young Bucks

The-Young-Bucks.jpg

This is a team I've never actually watched wrestle, but I sign them every time on those TEW games and such  I know that they're rated really highly and people are always banging on about WWE signing them. The question is, will WWE actually ever sign them when they're "Young" Bucks, or will they end up waiting too long and signing them when they're nearly 40 like they seem to be doing with everybody else?

On 5 point are two wrestlers... one who is a major name in WWE, the other who was a WWE superstar until this week...

Joint 32nd:

Randy Orton

randy-orton-27278979-620x400.jpg

*JBL VOICE* If you built a WWE superstar from the ground up, Randy Orton is exactly what they'd look like Maggle *JBL VOICE*

Orton's alright. He usually a good bet to have a good match and has got one of the best finishing moves of all time, which he executes to perfection.

Alberto Del Rio

alberto-del-rio-06.jpg

I usually see positives in most wrestlers who are in WWE, but Del Rio is a man who I just cannot bring myself to appreciate in any way. When he first started I was actually pretty high on him... his Mexican Ted Dibiase gimmick and the way he executed his cross arm breaker was a thing of beauty. But then... eh. You know that "x factor" people are always talking about in pro wrestling? This is a guy who is absolutely void of it, for me. There's no denying that he's a talented guy in the ring, but I just don't give a fuck about anything he ever does. Whether he's wrestling, speaking, or getting released again, I just don't give a fuck. And when they slap ANOTHER accomplishment on him, I just want to punch Vince Mcmahon in his head and tell him to stop wasting all of our time on a guy who just bores the hell out of me.

So yeah... this being said, Steven, explain how the hell this guy made your list?!

Revival are one of mine. they have really improved a lot since randomly appearing as a tag team (are they really friends from high school? oooooh Kayfabe!) about 18 months ago now. solid to start but prone to the odd gaff and fed to the lions a lot, they are now the first 2 time NXT tag team champs and have got the heel tag team down to a tee - far better than Blake&Murphy, and they needed Alexa Bliss to help them out

i just hope that they don't give the Authors of Pain a run with the titles at their expense.

looking elsewhere on my list, i submitted back in July. there are a few wrestlers / tag teams that have probably made it onto it now. Namely TM61 and Ty Dillenger.

Because he isn't John Cena!

...:P1:

I actually do think he has that charisma/x-factor thing that you mentioned but I have to admit that I doubt he will be on my list once I've flown through all the PPVs again.

Next off we have a 3 way tie. 3 entries who managed 8 points, and these are the first entries to have appeared on more than one list as they each made two lists each. We have our first woman, another tag team and one of two CWC competitors to appear on this list.

Joint 28th:

Charlotte

hi-res-6e4630cada6a684f390f507a4fd1ddba_crop_north.jpg

I actually find that Charlotte is quite under rated. When people talk about the womans revolution, the main two women people tend to talk about always seem to be Bayley and Sasha Banks... but for me, Charlotte has contributed as much, or more, than anybody. She's just a damn good heel and very good in the ring as well. I must admit, near the start of her push I was of the opinion that it was mostly happening because of who her father is... but actually, now, I think that she's completely worthy of where she is.

Zack Sabre Jr

Zack-Sabre-Jr-December-18,-2015-4.5--9076f74599170487cdba65224b30a2c6.jpg

The only Englishman to appear on this list, Zack Sabre has been introduced to a much larger audience as of late due to his appearance in the cruiserweight classic, where he's looking absolutely worth all of his hype. I've enjoyed everything I've seen of him and can't wait to see him on Raw as a part of the cruiserweight division.

Enzo and Cas

335c44ba350e8ac9268d73f170a86c2b.jpg

The one on the right is a certified G and a bonafide Stud and you can't teach that. The one on the left is 7 foot tall, and you can't teach that. Ect, badaboom, ect.
These two are about the most fun that anybody can be when they're in possession of a microphone. Captivating to listen to. Probably not that great in the ring, really, but bugger it. Plus, if the internet is to be believed (as we all know it is, obviously), Vince absolutely fucking loves Cas and big things are heading his way in future. His recent involvement in the Universal title fatal four way is probably only the first small taste of being near major gold for Cas. Will he live up to Vinces (apparent) vision? Time will tell

Another in my list. Has breathed a new lease of life into abyss. Crazzzy Steve has improved a lot since coming into TNA with the Menagerie. And Rosemary is great. Think a zombie Daffney from back in the WCW days

Sabre Jr won't be on Raw, WWE haven't signed him as yet.

I think he's been pish in the CWC to be honest. He's someone who I don't think it's hard to appreciate (I mean clearly it's very fucking difficult to wrestle as fluidly and technically sound as he does) but his matches just haven't been good - and I don't think you can just put that down to style as I thoroughly enjoyed Jack Gallagher's stint in the tournament.

(also he's definitely not the only Englishman on this list)
