Us and Darlo clearly deserve a bye out of this tinpot league - nearly 1600 more people in attendance than any other game last night.

No team deserve a bye from any league,we are in due to McNamara and up to us battle out.look at Stockport?
Used to make my blood boil heating all Leeds fans moaning about to big for league 1 etc.
Must admit thought the atmosphere felt like a league game and good to see Darlo on way back.

By that logic Stockport, Salford and FC United should get a bye as well.

Heh, you don't want to take my above post too seriously. It's more that I'm worried that with only two tickets for the National League, we'll miss out, and also a comment on the outstanding support for both teams.
We're clearly here because we deserve to be, no argument from me on that.

Salford are a toy club that'll fall away eventually just like they all do. FC Utd are a protest hobby that even they seem to be getting bored of.

In the interests of fairness, York are a long running shambles of a club with an extremely loyal hardcore and strong away support, but poorly supported given the size of the City.

Att. 2,358 - Salford City 2 Stockport County 1
County were dreadful for the first 20 minutes and got punished for it, then we turned up and made it a very competitive game for the rest of the half, goodness knows how many corners we had. Second half felt like both teams were neutered, again things picked up as it went on and we pressed for an equaliser but could not find a way through.

Salford have a very well organised defence, that number 5 is a beast. But going forward they are really lacking. We've got a makeshift defence, which isn't helped by Gannon keeping it in a constant state of flux - I wish we'd just settle on a back four and leave it at that, like we did much of last season. Jimmy Ball's resurgence continues, shame he couldn't do much to influence the game towards the end as he ended up at right back. Winter is turning into a problem for us, switches off a lot and still does stupid challenges. The more I see of Stephenson the more I like him, he constantly switches from left to right and sometimes it feels like having an extra player.

As I said before I'm not going to read too much into these first four games as we've played four very good sides and I don't think they'll be representative of the division as a whole. On paper the next three games look easier, and I'm hoping to see us try and dominate a game.

Brackley v Spenny probably the pick of the games. Both good sides who have had good starts so will be interesting to see who comes out on top. My thinking is Brackley is a tough place to go and a long trek from the north east so can see them edging it.

Chorley could really do with something away at boston to get their season going but Boston seem fairly up and down themselves so the money is probably on a draw there. Be interesting to see if Kiddy can give Salford any troubles. Salford are far from the finished article but they have enough individual excellence in their team to get past most people. Kiddy to me look weaker than last year. Genuinely think had they had a decent striker last season they would have won the league.

Finally for us at home to Telford. Well after the way we've performed so far this season I expect us to win. If we can play to our potential I don't think there's much Telford can do to match us. Plus it's one of the few home games I can get to each season so hoping for a fair few quakers goals.

Interesting game at the Impact tomorrow I think. Southport have started better I thought they would and both sides like to get the ball down and play so I think it should be a decent game.

We need to vastly improve on Tuesday nights performance against Ferriby and need to pick the three points up really. Looks like another huge struggle on the road so every home game is big.

North Ferriby United have today been served with a winding Up order. Totally predictable from the moment they left the Northern Premier. :bdick:

Why have the NFU owners suddenly gave up?

Will be sad to see North Ferriby go to the wall. Reminds me of Leigh RMI who are also sadly missed. Means only two relegation spots though

So which two former football league clubs would you like to see fill those places?

We have allowed centre half Brad McGowan to join Boston United on a 1 month loan.

Purely for fitness and minutes as he has struggled to get in to the side due to a strong centre back partnership between Luke Shiels and Billy Priestley.

A great addition for Boston. Was superb during the 2015/16 season and was Player of the season for us last season. Regularly got MOTM awards despite being part of a defence that shipped 95 goals.

Our start has caught most of our fans by surprise too, but to be fair I don't think we've faced a decent side yet.

I really don't know what to expect from us tomorrow, we picked up a couple more injuries on Tuesday and there are some doubts over the fitness and/or ability of the likely replacements. Our record at Alfreton is pretty poor too - no wins in our last 8 visits. I'll be happy with a point from it.

It is a tough place to go to we were very fortunate last season, and an arduous journey.
I'd be very surprised if Spenny can pull this one off against Brackley.
Not unless their coach breaks down.

Not sure what to expect at Tamworth. They really impressed me last season and easily beat us twice, but I believe they have big striker issues.

With us now playing off a solid defence it may play into our hands that they struggle up front.

We have to try and scrape something......survival is target and need to drag as many points off the non favoured sides as we can.

Wouldn't say we have big striker issues, obviously Danny Newton was a big loss but Reece styche has started really well and has 3 in 4. We do need more cover in that area though.

We are playing more attractive football so far this season and less hoofball. If We are to challenge for the top 7 then we should be looking for the 3 points today.

Fair enough.....i just went off your forum where there is a thread about striker issues.

We shall play 3 centre backs, mix in passing and direct, try to score early then hold lead......seems to be our game plan. Certainly not as pretty as last season.

We can play football though, think we may have scored conf north goal of the season midweek with a 10 pass attack move

He did win both penalties tbf to him. Also an assist for our second on Tuesday. He just looks really up for it so far.

Yes there is an on going thread about the need for a new striker as you say. We look a threat going forward so not really too concerned at the moment. We also play 3 centre backs so could be interesting this afternoon.
