Seen a few comments above about Delial Brewster. We had him on loan from Everton not least season but the one before. What he lacked in overall game play he made up for with pace and finishing. One of the better finishers I've seen for a long while.

Very good at reading flick ons, quick and a very composed finisher.
See here (Skip to 04:45):
Thanks for that, he is clearly lacking game time, but hopefully will be a threat once he sharpens up, certainly hope so now we have lost Nick Haughton.

Darksithlord - your use of the Force mind control powers must have finally succeeded in changing the directors' thinking (that, and the awful results) - your manager is gone. You sounded at the end of your tether with him, so hopefully this turns out to be a positive move.

Oh thank the lord, I couldn't care less whether he's a worker or not, would much rather have a finisher than another bloody Marcus Carver

Chris Moyses though lol
Expand? Didnt seem to do that badly at Lincoln. And by god he cannot be any worse than McDermott?

Fucking Finally. Genuinely thought it was never going to happen. But Glad to see that Wayne has come to his senses. I only hope its in time to salvage our season and avoid the drop.

Must say on a personal level sad to see John go. He was a really amicable guy who always stopped for a chat but I am afraid he was out of his league. Didnt have a clue and should have gone much sooner IMO

So our new manger is Former Lincoln boss Chris Moyses.

Looks a half decent appointment. An immediate upgrade on our two previous appointments since Nicky left for the sole reason he actually has genuine experience in management and of the level above of course with Lincoln. Bradley Wood will know him well of course too

He has a job on his hands but the ingredients are already in this team to avoid the drop. He just needs to bang a few heads together, get rid of some shite and get us playing properly again.

Immediately more positive about things and actually genuinely looking forward to a game again for the first time in months! Bring on Saturday!

Elsewhere today, surprised to see former Boston United manager Dennis Greene has been announced as the new manager of neighbours Boston Town of the United Counties league. Ambition there with plans for two consecutive promotions.

Haughton recalled, too good for this level, shouldn't be anywhere near non league level.

Phew! Haughton gone, we may just have a slim chance of grinding out a result on Saturday? Absolutely waltzed round our players in the 4-1 annihilation.

Nice one York did us a good turn tonight, by beating one of our relegation rivals. Still in deep shit like, with most of the teams surrounding us with games in hand.

I know Darlo lost their manager & a few players, but what exactly has gone wrong this season?? i thought they'd be pushing for promotion, not in a relegation battle.

Too many EVO-STIK players that are simply out of their depth in this league, even though the same squad performed admirably the previous season. They didn't sort out the issue from that season, which was the defense leaking far too many goals. And it's deja vu again with this current campaign.
At least 5 or 6 players are an absolute liability, and they were given 2-year-contracts by a certain Mr Gray? Absolute joke, we can't afford to get relegated? That would be a disaster.

Former York City defender Andy McMillan has been named as the new assistant manager at National League North rivals Alfreton Town.
The 49-year-old will be working alongside newly-appointed one-time Lincoln City boss Chris Moyses and new coach Lee Beevers.

He did some good things here, but quite a few bad things.

After relegation, Moyses stepped in to help out fund our youth system and I think he also brought in your new assistant into that so I assume that's how they know each other.

The Good
1) Didn't get paid, which probably enabled us to sign another player
2) Brought in some good players - Rhead, Hawkridge, Wood, Waterfall so it seems as though he knows quite a bit locally and they formed four of our promotion winning side
3) He *seemed* to have a decent network of people who recommended loan players to him. None of them performed that well here but some have ended up in L2 (others gone down the pyramid).

The Bad
1) Our fitness was way, way short of the required level. Different at a PT club, but our record under Moyses in the second half of games was horrendous i.e. we'd have finished bottom of the league. Flip side was that we were decent in the first half, which is why we were mid-table!
2) Once we got into a losing rut, we couldn't get out of it (1 win in 22 in the second half of the season or something silly).
3) He's not comfortable doing the media
4) If rumours were to be believed, he was a little too 'pally' with the players. More of a mate than the manager.
5) Seemed to favour playing older players. Our first XI under him was on the old side including Matt Sparrow, Craig Stanley, Nat Brown, Liam Hearn, Matt Rhead, Lee Beevers etc
6) We had little pace in the side.
7) There seemed no obvious way of playing

Probably other bits but I can't remember them off the top of my head.

Surprising appointment, though. I didn't think he'd manage above a really lower league Saturday side tbh.

One of the things that didn't sit well with people, me included, was that he invested in the youth system when the funding got cut on relegation, he also paid for a seat on the Board (as they have to do here), ended up suddenly being in and around the first team on a voluntary basis when a manager was sacked and never went away. It was seen that he had effectively paid to manage the Club.

We're a laugh a minute at the moment, 5-1 up and still end up hanging on. Although you know something weird is going on with the opposition when Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is starting for them in division 6.

Hard to argue with 15 points out of the last 15. We're clearly doing something right, and that something clearly isn't defending.

Moyses only got the manager's job at Lincoln cos' he invested in the club and was willing to work for free. Nice gesture and all that but he's basically a Sunday league manager. He wasn't awful but the way some City fans worship him, just because he's a local lad, gets on my tits.

Elsewhere, Nick Haughton will sign for Salford.

Hey Luke. Thanks for taking the time to post in such detail. Have to admit a lot of that is quite worrying.

I dont see as a long term appointment anyway. Think the remit is very much to keep us up and access things from there in the summer..

A lot of the bad points you identified are happening now anyway!? Unable to put in a 90 minute performance, and he last two are most definitely true of our performances this season.

my god he cannot be any worse than John which is certainly something that should work in his favour. I have a lot of reservations about the appointment but I am hopeful of our chances just for the fact we have made the change. Hope Chris can have the desired effect in the short term to get us playing again. Things still dont sit right in that he is rumoured to be friend of Lee Mullen and most definitely come in on the cheap. But its extremely difficult to get any long term success going at the club at the moment. So keep us up and I will be happy.

In November 2016 he went out on loan to Salford City. I'm not sure why Nick who had two loan spells with Salford City why he didn't figure in their recruitment plans? Not unless Fleetwood weren't prepared to part with him at that time.

It's a good job the last line of defense is Adam Bartlett, I bet he's earned his corn with some wonderful saves.
Clearly heading for the playoffs with that run of form.

We've just signed today goalkeeper Aynsley Pears on a month's youth loan from Middlesbrough.
Aynsley, 19, has been a regular in Middlesbrough's Under 23 team this season.

I didn't realize his father is Stephen Pears who made over 400 appearances for Middlesbrough and won four promotions in his career.

I don't think we had much choice regarding fetching a keeper in, after last Saturday's fiasco down at Alfreton. With Talbot getting sent off.

I know i am always giving the guy credit, but i got a lot of respect for our manager Flanagan last night when i listened to his after match interview on chorley match. Considering we've had so many key first team players leave in the last 8 months, and nearly all our creative talent, his main key frustration is he isn't fussed about the poor form or risk of relegation, but that he still wants to press us as a fast-passing attack based side and is struggling to do this with current squad, but is still trying to drill this aspect into the players (and sadly at moment struggling with it recently as we cannot do much in final 3rd of late)

Having over the years seen a few managers at carlisle with much larger budgets and better players slog a long with horrendous negative, mass defence based football and defending it claiming budgets as issues, its nice to see him still trying to gel a side on a very minimal budget to pass on the ground, try and pass quickly and hope to play 'exciting' not boring football...........................may be what relegates us as we cannot do much final 3rd at present and our constant attempt to play from the back can cost goals, but maybe like last season we could be just a player, a new signing off a gelled side.

Permanent.
"Town recalled the 23-year-old midfielder from his season long loan at Chorley earlier this week and he has now left the club to join Salford on a two and a half year deal for an undisclosed fee."

Watching a club that has never paid a fee in 128 years, and who have, I think, no players on contracts, how much do Conf North teams pay for players?
Started to get a glimmer of hope that the title race might open out after recent results, but we can't compete with this type of muscle over a season I fear.

Doesn’t mean he will do well there......many a Curzon player did superb for us here last two seasons did awful elsewhere.....will have to see.

To be fair Salford are just the next of an endless line of small bankrolled sides, it’s teams like Carlisle end up suffering as they get zero away support from these sides while they in return milk 1,000 odd gates to boost their crowds

Sad to see haughton go to Salford, too good for this level. Also, there shouldn't be a fee involved with transfers at this level. Spoils the charm of non league

A bit of news for any Chorley supporters travelling up to Darlo at the weekend. At present a pitch inspection will take place at 9:30am on Saturday morning to determine whether the game will take place on Saturday.

Absolutely freezing in Darlo, It'll be touch and go if the match gets the go-ahead? If all goes well clearing the snow (pitch, standing areas) the match will have a chance of surviving.

Southport away for us tomorrow afternoon. On a ground where we haven't won in the last 21 outings (in the league)!
County already 11-2 up on aggregate this season (6-0 home league win, 2-2 home cup draw and 3-0 away cup win in the replay) but we all know Southport have been splashing the cash recently and brought in some really excellent players.

New right back (Richards??) is going to have a good test tomorrow against Darren Stephenson who's becoming one hell of a good player!

The Kidderminster game on Tuesday was a funny one. Got outplayed from box to box but won 3-0! Hoping we are starting to be come more defensively resilient as that's been our downfall this season.

Looking forward to the game. Just hope the rain and wind stay away as the away end at Southport is completely open to the elements!

So a new era begins tomorrow with Chris Moyses` first game in charge a vital relgation 6 pointer at home to Leamington.

John`s sacking came around a month too late and really I think we missed a trick by not bringing in a replacement before the Darlo game tehn that way he could have had the County Cup game as a test game.

But anyway that has gone now. So with no room for error now 6 points from tomoorw and next week at Gainsbrough is a must and if we can pick something up in midweek at Blyth that would be a bonus.

Moyses has given an interview on taking the job here - https://www.peakfm.co.uk/news/local...eeping-alfreton-in-the-national-league-north/

The normal cliches really but it does worry me that he believes Marcus Marshall is capable at this level and even the level above and intends on recalling him from his loan at Hyde. His time here and at Boston where got shipped out to Coalville show that not to be the case!

Anyway fresh start tomorrow and I hope the players can forget all thats gone before them put it behind them and roll their sleeves up now and start playing with a bit more application.
