It's a good job the last line of defense is Adam Bartlett, I bet he's earned his corn with some wonderful saves.
Clearly heading for the playoffs with that run of form.

Bartlett has been excellent. I wasn't there against Telford but by the sound of it they were all over us at the end and could easily have leveled if it wasn't for some excellent stopping by Bartlett. Also made a wonder save against BPA last week that might have given us all three points rather than one.

Let's face it, if we don't make the play-offs with the resources we have it will be little short of a disgrace. But we're (still) such a horror-show at the back that I can see it happening.

Weather update for the Kiddy fans, I’d say game is about 50/50 at the moment, but that is much improved from the ‘fat chance’ I thought earlier in week.

The good news is temperatures didn’t drop as much and it has mostly been rain than snow and been staggered than constant.

The bad news it has been staggered rain/snow for 6 straight days and is same today and tomorrow so never had time to dry out.

Will depend I think on quality of pitch and tomorrow’s weather if it is dry, light or heavy

I, for one, welcome our new egg-chasing overlords.

No, not really. This would set us back years. The view on our forum is that Sharks are just playing games with their current landlords. Apparently there's all sorts of problems about playing European games of they came back to EP.

I love that your ground is called an 'Arena' The irony is just amazing. Kudos to whoever came up with the name! :2thumb:

Somehow stayed in the playoff spots while not playing. Need to take advantage of these dropped points by teams around us.

Didn't go today, sounded like an even game. Finally, carver has been sent off, probably for being a dick like he is most games.

Alfreton 4-1 Leamington

That was so much better! We were unrecognizable from recent weeks! Commitment, attitude, spirit, character , passion , endeavour, work rate.. all words we haven't used for a long time but it was back today.

Impressed by what I saw and genuinely convinced by what Chris Moyses said and wants to do unlike the spiel that John said.

Two things stood out for me we did the basics well was disciplined and structure and hard to break down. Instead of being lacklustre and too much of a soft touch.

Have to say the visiting Leamington goalkeeper was one of the worst I have ever seen, thought he was Manuel Nuer and I think he was desperate to play in an outfield position.

For the first goal he was dancing 10 yards off his goal line. Jennings nicked the ball off here before being bundled over by Breedon - clear penalty.
Just before half time Cieron Keane made it 2-0 with a fantastic lob from inside his own half (Nick Haughton eat your heart out! lol) after Breedon was off his line and took a poor freekick.

It was minutes in to the second half when Jennings swept past Breedon after a swift counter and an terrible pass near the centre circle left Keane with the simple task of running clear and slotting home past a stranded Breedon for the fourth.

Leamington did threaten and had a couple of chances and Joe Clarke was denied by two worldie saves from Chris Elliott.

Leamington did grab a late consolation after the ref gave them a very dodgy penalty with 2 minutes to play. The ref was pretty shocking, refusing a minutes silence before the game for Cyrille Regis too. Made a dogs dinner of an easy game to Ref really.

Up to the dizzy heights of 13th on Tuesday should we win at Blyth! Well Ferriby won there so I am confident!

Also the Leamington manager Paul Holleran is absolute gent. Came over for a very friendly informal chat after the game and was even kind enough to buy me a drink after the game. A credit to his club

What the hell happened at Southport v Stockport today?

Southport FC‏Verified account @southport_fc
Following a serious incident during today's game, where a number of our players were attacked by a spectator, no post match interviews will be published today. A club statement will be published in due course.

STATEMENT | Incident During Today’s Game
In the second half of today’s game against Stockport County, a spectator encroached onto the field of play and attacked a Southport player who was warming-up on the touchline at the time of the incident.

Following the game, several club representatives spoke to the police and an investigation into the incident is now ongoing. Club officials have reviewed available CCTV and match footage, and multiple clear images of the incident are available to the police.

The club takes the safety of our staff, our players, our volunteers and our supporters seriously. The club believes this was an isolated incident, however in light of today’s events, a full review of safety procedures will be conducted.

The club hopes that this unsavoury incident does not take the gloss away from an excellent victory over Stockport County. The board would like to commend Kevin Davies and the team for their composure during the match.

From what I understand (I was there, but couldn't make out what was going on) some of our fans were giving one of their subs a bit of stick. The sub said something back. One of our fans decided to jump the barrier and take a swing. One of our subs tried to break it up, and got a traffic cone chucked at him for his troubles. All very silly.

In the interests of player and spectator safety other clubs should let us win a few more games. We're always very well behaved when we win.

I don't know why the Southport manager felt unable to give an interview though. Gannon somehow managed it.

Could these the same idiots that attacked Lee Vaughan at our place a few seasons back? Hope your club issues banning orders. Can't have fans like that ruining your clubs image.

Today was small fry compared to Kidderminster. Whatever happened in this scuffle, it was over in less than a minute. The game barely stopped. At Kidderminster involved a section of fans. Today was just one wrong'un.

No idea who it was. Some are suggesting he was a neutral not a County fan, though I don't buy that. Whoever it was, they've probably got more than a banning order coming to them.

I don't think we have a bad reputation. The odd overenthusiastic celebration aside, until today there's been nothing serious since that Kidderminster game.

It would be unfair to tar all Stockport fans with the same brush, what happened appeared to be the actions of one dickhead out of over 700 away fans, who were generally well-behaved. It was at the other end of the ground from me, so I couldn't comment on it, but it caused the referee to pause the match and our PA announcer to request Stockport fans cleared the area in which it seemed to occur (in front of our new disabled facility).

Our lack of goals and wins is really starting to cost us dearly now.....although much of it was the shock mass turnaround in form of Boston and FCUM who both looked dead and gone in October......we had 14 point gap on both of them.

only 30 goals scored this season.......8 of them in 2 matches. 1 win in last 10 games, that was NFU the 'certain win' of the league. We play well enough, never look that much worse than opposition (apart from Stockport who battered us yet somehow drew). Problem is that we compete well, are very tough to beat, but have so little in final third its hard to grab more than one goal.

Massive two back to back games coming up for us, firstly the Manchester derby at FCUm next week, while tough they i feel are still a weak squad, just their new manager has done superbly so it gives us a chance, then an enormous home match to Gainsborough.

starting to think myself NFU and Gainsborough will go down, it may be between Curzon, Telford, Alfreton and Darlington for the other spot.....Teford must be close to sacking manager with players they have.

It was a good result for us in the end, but i think most Chorley fans would agree that we should have put this game to bed, another gifted goal from ourselves which is what we do now these days.

Carver the substitute was only on for about 25 minutes, he received his first booking and then about a minute later got sent off for a second bookable offence. But yeah Chorley played reasonably well today, could have won the match towards the end if it wasn't for our young keeper pulling off a wonderful save.

I probably would have settled for a point before the match even kicked off, but after today's performance I'm slightly disappointed we didn't kill Chorley off in the end? We had our chances to win this match, but then again a points a point against a decent Chorley side.

We are still conceding silly goals, and looking very fragile at times during the game in defense. Up front we are desperate for somebody to partner Reece Styche, we certainly would be in shit street if he got injured. Fast approaching February not looking good at all still can't see a way out for TW?

Glancing at the league table it looks pretty grim reading, gonna need some favours from other clubs with the games in hand, by beating the likes of Gainsborough, AFC Telford etc. And now the game down at Leamington next Saturday could be last chance saloon for us? And Tommy Wright?
Especially if we lose this one.

Top of the table clash a predictable outcome.

Town did have a lot of the second half but both sides not particularly impressive. Salford seem to be 6/10 ing it through every match on their way to the title. Best player for them was the sign what you see transfer of Walker from FCUM a week after he ruined their right hand flank.
Town are also deeply in impressive at the moment. If the season were a couple of months longer and a team actually showed an inclination of chasing both teams down both top and second would be very reachable. Salford are certainly no fylde of last season.
Impressive turn around on their ground but the fans are clearly there for the celeb association factor. Very quiet bunch.

felt you flogged your chanc the last few weeks rather than yesterday when Salford were slipping up over december but you flogged easier games yourself.

Still keeping 2nd spot is big considering the final is played at highest placed side.

Very true. We do not deserve to challenge for the title. Worry is we have not been playing consistently well over a 4 or 5 game spell since mid autumn.
Anyone looking at 2nd should see it as very obtainable. And as for our chances in the playoffs......Weaver's teams have always chocked on big occasions let alone over the course of 3-5games in the new playoff format.
BTW a few of us were saying how Curzon make more sound than we heard from the celeb hunters at Salford. Very unusual atmosphere considering that game and us taking the usual vocal but increased numbers there.

Highlights from the game between Alfreton and Leamington. Alfreton player Ceiron Keane scores from the halfway line at about 4:46 in the vid!
