Silkyman will question the impartiality of the team of officials assigned to a Manchester City game.

Saltire will throughout the season consistently predict us to do better than we actually do.

Then on the last day, he'll say "ach, there's always next season and I've got a good feeling".

He's like a disappointment machine.

Everton will finish above Arsenal.

Not possible. Arsenal has 3 Germans in the team and Everton only "Shit Lukaku" :D (no greetings to jt )

As usual: Liverpool will finish above Everton. And this Koeman Guy will be sacked (hopefully)

Jesus Bilo you are getting further down in the dumps regarding Liverpool than Pags these days. For a lot of the first half of last season there was every chance we'd have a shot at the title, but the lack of depth scuppered that in January when injuries piled up and Mane was off in the AFCON. Flesh out the squad with quality this time around (and hopefully do better in the CL - if qualify - than last time) then we are in a good chance to give it a better go this time around. It will be even tougher to win the league next season I expect as Guardiola and Mourinho will really be going for it this year, but let's dream shall we. No point in being doom-mongers about it when the club is in a better position than its been in, in years.

It was a joke. And you are notoriously optimistic. This post kind of shows it.

And on that note, Saltire will consistently claim Mignolet is better than he actually is.

The rumoured United signings of Peresic and Matic with Morata as Zlatans replacement leaves me incredibly underwhelmed and I can't see us doing anything except scrapping around for fourth again.

Main hope is that the young talents we have, Pogba, Martial and Rashford all kick on like Ronaldo and Rooney in 06/07 and propel us to a title challenge.

I think Perisic is getting a bit of a rough judgement. He's quality. Good on the left, good down the centre. Covers back well. He's great for Mourinho.

Seems like a great squad player to have, but doesn't do much to improve the starting XI, just a very expensive alternative option. I would prefer if they persisted with Rashford, Martial and Mkhitaryan or signed another promising winger. I would be reasonably happy with United's transfer dealings if they get Lindelof, Matic, Morata and another (possibly a left back if Luke Shaw's confidence remains destroyed), though a better goal scorer would give me confidence of challenging for the title. Belotti would get me excited or a Hail Mary for Lukaku.

Predictions: City will win the league, Spurs will finish second again and Watford will be relegated. United 4th.

Spurs will do very well to finish as high as that again, in my opinion. Wembley will probably be their undoing.

I think Perisic would go straight into your starting 11. Jose hasn't got the confidence in your current options.

Steven beat me to it. At this stage the only real prediction I'm prepared to make is that Spurs will struggle to finish top 4 this coming season with their playing home games at Wembley, never mind repeat their 2nd place finish.

I hope so, caught I caught Inter a few times last year and never thought much of him.

He is obviously a good player but that price tag is far too much even in this market. It's pretty much the same as what Arsenal are paying for Lacazette or City for Silva, two much younger players who have the change of being world class. To pay the same for a player in his peak who has never shown anything outstanding would be madness.

That we would also be adding another 28 year old in Matic for a similar price doubles the problem. Personally I would never sign a player past 25 for a peak fee. I dont see the value there and personally I can never take to players who have already established themselves elsewhere. I'd be very disappointed if this becomes the norm from now on.

So you wouldn't have sanctioned the signing of Van Persie?

£22m wasn't peanuts in 2012.

van Persie is pretty much an exception rather than a rule though. The inflation since has been incredible (2015-17 has seen a significant acceleration), £22M was the going rate for such a transfer for 5-10 years beforehand. The fact that it's peanuts five years later wasn't a given at the time.

Also, you had a manager who could take a pretty shit squad (look at what most of them have achieved since), add one world class player and win the league. I'm not sure any manager in the world would be able to do what SAF did with adding van Persie to that squad. Basically, what was viable for him to do isn't necessarily viable for anyone else.

To wrap it up, while van Persie gave you the title he also aged quickly as he was signed so late, and since you've struggled to replace him. Had you paid £44M for someone five years younger, he'd still be here banging them in. And in today's market, £44M is peanuts too.
