Made sure I put some more money on the car park today (genuinely). Apparently the average 2nd half injury time for games involving Wycombe this season is about 6-7 minutes.

In fact, they’re so ingrained in slowing the game down, they even do it when they’re losing.

This fixture last season I remember Wycombe doing it from the first throw in. No joke.

Been laughable so far. Keeper down injured in the second minute and it just went from there. Absolute embarrassment to football.

Thank fuck we got the goal first half.

Bloody average, once again. Really struggling to see how we turn this around, especially with Luton and Barnsley flying as they are.

Great performance from us today. A different test to those of late and we really controlled the game for the most part and kept Wycombe very quiet indeed. I was quite pleased to see Akinfenwa back for them as I think he makes them very, very one dimensional and with Bradley and Pearson, absolutely fine for us to defend. Always think a player like Kashket would be doing much better in a footballing side, got something about him I think and should play more for them based on the fleeting appearances he gets against us.

First goal was class from Hylton to spread it out to Stacey and then a classic Stacey to Collins goal which is beginning a "typical" Luton goal at this point. Wycombe seemed to decide the best way to get back in the game was to wind us up and get someone (Hylton really) sent off. Thought it might work for a time but half time came at a good time to prevent that. Second half Wycombe put balls in from everywhere but we dealt with them with ease really. How Akinfenwa escaped a booking today ive no idea, seems to be able to just commit fouls with no repercussion, wouldnt surprise if half the fouls made by Wycombe today were by him.

Cummings and Moncur both combined well to see the game out as well so that was great to see. Great depth we have, and Moncur must be knocking on the door fo the first 11 now, looks a great player for the way we play and links so well with the rest of the midfield. Some outstanding performances today but Stacey and McCormack the pick for me. The latter just won everything in the midfield and gave Wycombe no foothold in that area.

Fair play to Ainsworth after the game too, waited for Mick and the team to shake their hands and gave us some lavish praise after the game. Shame his side plays like that but got to do what you have to do to survive at this level given their resources. In a way you cant blame them for that.

Barnsley must have some team if they can afford to let George Moncur leave for a divisional rival...

Today was the 4th time in 5 games, Sunderland have dropped 2 points after being 1-0 up. They've done this 7 times in total this season. Its the reason why we're top and they're not.

We've also kept 15 clean sheets out of 32, whereas Sunderland have only kept 7 out of 29.

Truly awful from us today, 1-0 to Fleetwood with their only shot after both centre halves choose to leave a cross and we had no answer to all the crap that comes with a side seeing out an away win.
After looking like Brazil in December we’re now a long ball side that hasn’t won a header all season, a HUGE six pointer at home to Plymouth next week.

Thank god we don't have to play Wycombe every week. A team who try every trick in the book to unsettle their opponents. They certainly unsettled the ref who made some bizarre decisions. The Collins yellow card was a classic. Their player stays down in what appeared to be severe pain until Collins got the yellow, then he gets up without receiving treatment, grins and high fives one of his teammates. Their performance was an embarrassment all round. Thankfully we kept our heads and tried to play football. The opener was a relief and a decent bit of play with Collins doing what he does best. Should have been 2 or 3 up at the break but Hylton and Collins missed chances with just the keeper in front of them. Second half was hard work but the longer it went on the more we started to play the ball around. The subs were perfect timing and their energy and skill on the ball was too much for Wycombe. Moncur looks a great signing who will I'm sure make break into the starting XI. Was also impressed with Cummings, a real livewire with plenty of skill and a good shot on him. Thought Luke Berry was excellent today but he tired towards the end. Him and Shinnie ran the midfield and Stacey was his usual positive self.
Keep waiting for that slip up and with Wycombes record at KR and style of play (or whatever they might call it) it could have well been today. We have however a team with great self belief and confidence as well as a squad with strength in depth. The competition for places is what is driving this team forward. To select a starting XI must be a very difficult problem for Mick but a nice problem to have.

The Cods have an great ability at present to bring the oppo sides way down to our level so I would not feel too bad about this particular game.

Also think we are the only team where players who cannot get into the team are sent on loan to higher placed teams, Dempsey to Peterborough, & McAlenay to Kilmarnock 3rd in Scots prem. 2 players I rated highly, not forgetting the transfer of Bolger to Lincoln.

Graham Carey with an outrageous bit of skill yesterday, well worth a watch :eyes::bow:

Smacked a free kick in top corner from 25+ yards as well. Not been scoring the goals this season but still been playing great. Must be up near the top for assists.

Out of contract in summer. Hope we can hang on to him again.

1 yellow card for Wycombe in the whole game. That is just unbelievable.

The amount of fouls that Akinfenwa gets away with is just ridiculous (nothing new). He caught Sonny Bradley with his arm in the first half which resulted in the ref stopping the game, but didn't even give a free kick! He then proceeded to make another 3 fouls within about a 5 minute period in the second half. Again nothing.

James Justin was also caught whilst he was away - a stonewall yellow, I believe for Dominic Gape in the middle of the park. Again, advantage played but no yellow. Yet the first challenge Danny Hylton makes, he gets a yellow. Maybe he should wear a shirt saying "why always me?"

Last week their defender saved a certain goal on the line with his arm, no pen, no red card and all we got was an apology afterwards from the ref.

Decent free kick for the goal, but, yet again, shouldn't have been given as it was a perfectly good challenge.

Hope Kieffer Moore makes a quick recovery from appears to be a fractured skull in yesterday's game for Barnsley. Horrible injury.

The Gape challenge wasn’t all that dissimilar to the infamous Lee challenge a few years ago, from behind no intention of winning the ball. The Lino looked very sheepish afterward so I wonder if he realised his error.

For balance I thought Pearson was a little lucky toward the end. Put in a challenge not so disimilar to the one that the Peterborough centre half got sent off for a few weeks ago. Won the ball but his momentum brought his other leg through the challenge which these days asks the ref the question. Fortunately the ref was so weak it only resulted in a free kick.

Have to admit, that is good.
We were in the Devonport and even at that distance you could tell he did something outrageous.

I quite enjoyed the slow motion double triple salso from Bogle where at the end he seemed to be facing the wrong way but with ball at his feet and a smile on his face.

I always enjoy the games against Pompey, seems respect on both sides and as ever your fans were good. Son number two was livid he was in France on a school trip, especially as he thinks where he is staying is a poor version of Cornwall!

Agreed. Although a long way away it looked a good challenge. It was pretty much in the same place where we had exactly the same decision and outcome a few weeks ago, so it rights a wrong for us.

Luton fans complaining about Wycombe's tactics when they're the dirtiest team ive seen this season seems very ironic.

The 12 fouls committed by Wycombe yesterday is a far cry from the 25 Luton committed at GP in december. Which somehow only resulted in 1 booking.

I thought we mixed it up abit!

Those who watched a long ball game certainly can’t have been watching the same game.

Fans turning against the management team aren’t helping matters, either. A sense of perspective is needed. It’s so fucking tight in the lower half of the table, there’s gonna be teams moving up 5 places and back down 5 places the week after.

Call it deluded, but I’m still not panicked - we won’t go down.

It’s a fair point, we also have Hylton and whoever plays the DM position for us is in pretty sure asked to commit “tactical” fouls to break up counter attacks.

Nice of you to defend our club FCH!! What do you mean with the DM position comment? That is a very unfair accusation. Very disappointed that a so called fan of ours is coming out with that type of comment.
We are far from a dirty side and play football the way it should be played. We've had enough praise from opposition fans, managers and the media this season for our style of play and noone mentions a dirty side to our game

I thought Luton played good football when we player them but they committed a lot of fouls. Every time we looked to break James Collins would barge one of our players over and kill any momentum we had. I'm not against the tactic at all but I thought it was ironic to criticise Wycombe for similar.

I mean it’s pretty obvious isn’t it from just watching the games regardless of who you support? Key weakness of the diamond is the counter attack given the full backs push up so high, so preventing it is key to how we play.

If you get behind the DM then you will
Invariably see Rea or now McCormack trip or pull back the attacker back.

Part and parcel of football now, not comparing us to City but Guardiola teams are particularly known for it.

So called fan? Ridiculous comment, maybe watch the games and you’ll have an understanding of a key part of our system?
