Was trying to think of the last League 1 fixture we were involved in that was televised and recalled a game that we played in somewhat similar circumstances in the 04/05 division where we won this league, against Barnsley. Came into the game top I think and expected to dispatch what I think was a mid table Barnsley side only to lose in front of the cameras. Cant remember the score but have a vivid recollection of Chris Shuker scoring for them and the old man having to deal with a very disappointed and annoying son afterward! Think that memory is why I always hate it when we are on the TV!

Yes they were, i had £46 on barnsley to win and btts. It ended 3-2. Picked up £186 off that. Possibly one of their last defeats maybe.

As said on numerous occasions i’ve been impressed by Luton and i hope we go up along with them and as i’ve said there will be still twists and turns and this weekend will be no different.

Hoping for a big 3 points down Bristol today, Rovers will make it difficult and with our defence who knows but i’m hoping our attack can do the talking.

It was our last league defeat.

Dare I say that if Portsmouth lose today, it becomes a three horse race for 2 positions?

We've already shot ourselves in the foot by playing a CB at LB despite having two LBs available.

We've picked up a grand total of 1 point from losing positions at half time this season.

Our awful form against Donny is going to continue.

Jamal Lowe has been dropped to the bench by Portsmouth today. Surprised?

Strange game really. Donny looked incredible in the first half, were passing us apart. Not sure what McCann said to his team but it helped us a lot. Second half they looked horrendous and we got a deserved point.

0-0 in the big game at the top; Sunderland ahead at Bristol Rovers in a game they really have no choice but to be winning.

The great Omar Bogle misses a pen to put Portsmouth 1-up.

We basically stopped pressing your defenders and started to lump the ball forward in fact it was as though both sides swapped tactics after 55 mins, I was happy to come away with a point in the end because we just aren’t ruthless enough. As for McCann I felt he left it too long to make changes.

Absolutely shocking today. Sunderland weren’t great either but they didn’t need to be.

Not sure they got out of 1st gear ffs

Our home form is shambolic

Well that was a kick in the nuts for us today. A one nil up I was dreaming but the late 2 1 loss leaves us with a mountain to climb..

Not a great set of results for us today but cant complain as they went nicely last week. Im expecting a tough game tomorrow and we have a little bit of pressure with the Sunderland win, but we have the opportunity to stretch the gap on Barnsley and keep Sunderland at arms length. This in turn will flip pressure back onto both if them.

I keep waiting for us to fail as we so often used to crumble. I dont see us crumbling, but anyone can beat anyone on a given day and in football things can change pretty quick. I see this as a pivitol game for us. Similar to Pompey in terms of needing the result for confidence and momentum. Nervous of this one, but a believer.

Our secret game plan did not work against Luton. Although I did not attend or listen it seems to have been very effective against Burton.

Cods (now not so secret) game plan:

1, Stop Burton playing (by all and every means)
2, Attempt to sneak a goal (by all and every means)
3, Hang on to lead (by all and every means).
4, And only 4 bookings this game

There were only two games that mattered to Luton today and one was the perfect result so I'd say it's not a bad set of results at all.

Well that was a cracking game, both sides came to play. Though bizarre to have a game where in one half you are totally dominant (some top draw saves from Dale’s ‘keeper) and score one, and in the other play no where near as well and score four. Turning point was undoubtedly the sending off. From where I was it looked harsh, as I felt there was some argument it was not necessarily a goal scoring chance. I certainly would not have argued against a yellow.

Big mention to the eight or nine Dale fans who stood up at the back of the Barne Barton, we could hear them very clearly at times. My eldest lad was very impressed with that, that so few could be heard at the Devonport end.

Sad to say Dale fans, even ignoring you were down to ten, if that is your normal standard you look pretty set for league 2.

So big game today - looking forward to it. There are protests planned from the away fans - I just hope it remains under control and doesn’t get out of hand and ruins the game. For sure, Luton fans will show solidarity with you.

Rumour has it that the TV gantry has been moved to above the Executive Boxes - not sure if that is true or not, but it’s well overdue if it is.

The last game we lost was on TV - that was with the same referee too!

Just got a feeling the unbeaten run comes to an end today. Being on TV gives me the heebie jeebies and likewise so does anything other than a standard 3PM or 745 kick off time!

Think Coventry have got some attacking threats which could cause us a few issues, in the reverse fixture Clarke-Harris was easy for Pearson and Bradley to get a handle on, having moved away from him in January I think it might be more of a challenge for us. From reading about online it seems they have some decent wingers who can perhaps pin back JJ and Stacey who are so key to how we like to play.

Seems like they to play a bit so could be an entertaining game for those watching if both teams show up.

Shamelessly stolen from Facetube...

13th April 2009 - Luton we’re relegated out of the football league.

13th April 2019 - Charlton away. Exactly 10 years to the day, could it be the day we manage to win promotion back to the championship?

What a day it would be!

Quite probably. The Valley seems to be the place for opposition teams to celebrate winning the title/promotion in recent years. Bournemouth and Burnley were presented the Championship trophy in successive years, sure Norwich confirmed promotion at ours from this league in 2012 aswell.

The rugby ground in the city centre is just too small. It's the perfect location but has no room for expenasion beyond the 4k it currently holds. Due to segregation and health and safety, the EFL wouldn't allow it.

Other than that, there isn't anywhere. Nuneaton is close, but outside the city boundaries the EFL require.

Meanwhile, Spurs can play at Wembley for as long as they like.

Luton Town team to play Coventry City (KO 1200 GMT)
James Shea, Jack Stacey, James Justin, Matty Pearson, Sonny Bradley, Alan McCormack, Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu, Andrew Shinnie, George Moncur, Danny Hylton, James Collins
Subs: Harry Isted, Dan Potts, Elliot Lee, Jason Cummings, George Thorne, Kazenga LuaLua, Alan Sheehan

I think this 18 reaffirms how good a transfer window we had in January. Last year we would’ve been a bit stretched with Luke Berry, Glen Rea and Harry Cornick inured. Then go out an sign Thorne, Moncur and Cummings which have the reputation of being even better. That bench is fantastic.
