Thus far 7 people have predicted MK Dons for automatic promotion, 4 for Swindon, Notts County and Lincoln, 3 for Exeter and one each for Mansfield and Stevenage.

Meanwhile Morecambe and Yeovil are the clear favourites for relegation with 6 and 4 votes respectively. Forest Green and Carlisle are predicted for relegation by 2 members with Bury and Crawley predicted for relegation by 1 member each.

Until the squads are formed its a bit meaningless, but biggest spenders to make the top seven and whichever club has the most shambolic boardroom to go down.
That's what usually happens....unless you're Mansfield. No amount of money 's getting them up.

I don't see how you can make even a guess at how the season will unfold until teams start making signings. I'm giving it at least another week or two.
Well we've got to talk about something all summer, at so may as well start talking about how we think next season will pan out, at least until England get knocked out of the World Cup in the last 16 to Colombia.

As it stands we will forfeit every game for not fielding a team.

No harm in doing predictions this early as even a day before the season starts with all fully completed squads nobody really has a Scooby Doo how it’s gonna pan out. How many of us had Accrington 1st and Chesterfield 24th last season? Only reason I’m not doing mine yet is that I just can’t be arsed.

To early to offer a full league table forecast especially with six new teams in division.
However I will offer my early season selections for promotion and relegation [based on end of season form].
Crewe must be on of the favourites for promotion - they ended last season on a high. The other three teams to go up is more difficult to pick although I suspect MK Dons will make an immediate return to League 1.
Pushed I will also nominate Cambridge & Oldham.

Three teams stand out as early season candidates for relegation based on end of season form and they be Cheltenham, Morecambe & Yeovil.
I don't think any of the relegated teams will do a Chesterfield with a double relegation. The two promoted teams Tranmere and Macclesfield will end season in mid-table.
And of course FGR, who held up the table for most of it's first season will probably finish second season in the lower mid-table.

Therefore:
[P] Crewe
[P] MK Dons
[P] Oldham
[P] Cambridge
:
:
[R?] Cheltenham
[R] Morecambe
[R] Yeovil

No way are Cheltenham going down. They’ve got Eisa money and have acquired well so far.

They haven't sold Eisa. But agree they have made some good signings.

Bit early, but here goes

MK Dons
Swindon
Cambridge
Lincoln
Notts County
Northampton
Cheltenham
Colchester
Exeter
Forest Green
Mansfield
Oldham
Bury
Carlisle
Crawley
Crewe
Tranmere
Port Vale
Grimsby
Macclesfield
Newport
Stevenage
Yeovil
Morecambe

Think Exeter could be fantastic or middling depending upon who leaves in the summer. We need to make a big effort to try and hold onto 1 or 2 very key players, and we shall see how that goes. The new manager from within will be given time, and knows the whole squad and all the up and coming guys intimately. I think it maybe a big ask to be a big success in his first season hence my cautious position above. I know nothing about Oldham at all, and think in terms of dark horses Cambridge might surprise this year.

I based my selections purely on end of season form when Cheltenham had a bad set of results.
BTW, Eisa was a Cheltenham player throughout season which must be taken into account. His goal tally virtually staved off relegation and any money from his sale will probably not compensate.

FGR Chris has said that Cheltenham have brought in some good players but during close season all teams hope to do same. Where I think he is getting misled is that Cheltenham were quick off the starting block in their player recruitment.
Anyway I hope Chris is right and that Gloucestershire has two successful EFL teams.

The thinking was taking into the account the Flitcroft factor. With a proper manager you’d be top 3

I think Mansfield is not far off, it’s something else I’m on about.

Ah, you have the same faith in the Tanned One as I do in Flip Flop. You could well be right, though. But surely every fan has to think their team will do well before reality sinks in.

WOW.
Thanks for your confidence in my club in its second season. I'd love you to be right but ....
I do agree with you that Oldham must be early season favourites for a quick return to League 1.
