We’ve got Tom Elliott on trial, played for Nuneaton last season.

What’s he like??

Signed Danny Livesey and Anthony Dudley on season long loan deals from Salford.

Also brought in young goalkeeper Theo Roberts on a permanent deal after his release from Wigan.
Dudley is a cracking singing.

Livesey seems a strange one considering you have just signed Grand.

Great signings! Looking like it could be a quick return to the National League.

Not really - they've played together at Carlisle and Barrow, so they come as a pair and work well together.

DarkSithLord we've had Ed Wagner on trial all pre-season. He's looked pretty good so far would probably only be a backup if we signed him. What did you think of him?
I really really like him. Lovely lad and impressed with his performances on the pitch.

Great interview here with him with an insight in the serious sacrifices he has made. Literally just leaving home packing a bag and chasing his dream of playing football in England.

Was absolutely gutted when we didnt retain him.

We've re-signed Josh Hine permanently. Very happy with this, scored for fun in his last spell, scoring the goals that got us promoted to this league. His move to Salford and then an injury has seemed to take his toll on him a bit but he still looks good

No recall on their loans either apparently, not in Salford's plans. Think this way it allows them to stay on a full-time wage.

They are both a lot older now and Livesey spent the majority of last season out injured and it showed when he came back.

Livesey also is their fourth centre back which is a bit excessive.

Something tells me a proportion of this ‘infrastructure’ money is going towards the playing budget.

"The Sky Blues boss saw his under strength side lose 1-0 to Championship side Derby County in a game that ended in a farce as a broken generator at Nuneaton's Liberty Way resulted in the game finishing in poor light with no power for the floodlights."

New ground owner Norman Smurthwaite explained the lack of floodlighting afterwards, saying: "Vandals have damaged our generator twice, once a week or so ago and again this week. "We simply didn't have time to get the people in to fix it for the game."

The ground maintenance needs sorting out before the season starts, the generator is just a stop gap.

He's pretty decent mate, Elliott, Trotman, Henshall and Nicholson were all in the team down at Liberty Way when they beat us 2-1 - They should have been 6-0 up by half-time, absolutely smashed us in that first half.

He was also quite lively and had a good game in the 0-0 draw at BM. I hope we sign him he'll be another Turnbull.

Very speedy player Josh Hine was at Salford City, played a blinder back in Feb 2016 in our 4-3 win at Moor Lane when he was one of the Ammies new signings.

Probably unfortunate with his injury, but if he's over his problems he'll be fine. He had a decent start at Warrington Town during the summer scoring a few goals, but then he went off the boil.

They had a strong belief with the signing of Livesey, when he signed on a 2-year-deal with Salford City. I very much doubt he'll pull on a Salford shirt ever again.

Personally not sure Hine is up to this level, scored 50 goals in just over 2 seasons for us before but that was in Evostik League, hope he proves me wrong, played at wing back v Tranmere the other night and did ok so I suppose he does give us options if he can stay fit.

As I've said, we've received money for three players and had big gate friendly, probably adds up to a six figure amount.

Makes sense to reinvest at least some of it in to the playing budget.

He still scored a lot for us at this level, he scored 11 in the league the season he left and he only played about 1/3 of the season and he also only played 1 season in evo-stik

Salford will be paying the bulk of their wages too according to Jonno at last nights ST collection meeting.

2 signings for us today. I imagine Edward Wagner and Kane Richards.

Livesey and Grand in the same defence? Surely not. Both good solid players, but jeez that’s a slow, ageing centre half partnership.

It’s probably quicker than the Astles & McCombe partnership of last season!

In all seriousness we’ve been playing with three centre backs in pre-season and looked fine so far. Moran is the ball playing centre back striding forward, fortunately he’s not slow.

You’d have to hope so haha!
Yeah 3 centre backs is definitely the logical thing to do if you’ve got someone who can use their pace to make recoveries alongside them.

If you need an error prone gobshite who blames others when he makes mistakes, then yes he's just the player you need.

He's bang average at this level and was part of a defence that leaked more goals than York last season, as was Griffiths.

I can't see the improvement to your defence really, I expect more of the same from York next season.

You might be correct only time time will tell, but doesn’t need to do much to be an improvement on Johnnie Burn.

Bradford (Park Avenue) manager Mark Bower has secured the services of Salford City's forward Jake Beesley on a season-long loan.

Have the Class of 92 been over spending? Sudden departure of quite a few players recently.

Altrincham have signed Brendon Daniels on a initial one month loan. Has already proved to be a bad apple at Port Vale and blown his 6 month deal?

When he hits it, it stays hit and he is lethal from set pieces. But his attitude is awful and he tends to be lazy.

well considering their signings are on wages well above the likes of Carlisle could get i'd say they have easily overspent.

their bigger issue may be trying to keep squad unity.....gonna have far far too many big ego's in one place due to giving numerous players very over-inflated wages from last season and this who will all demand starts...........and conference can usually be more about team unity than actual money or player quality as proved by the numerous times ex league clubs with better budgets finish below smaller clubs.

Today we had a player randomly turn up! He was from the Congo, lives in Portugal and only speaks French and Portuguese. He was called David umbala. Was very fast and wasn't that bad of a player, might need an interpreter if we sign him though!
