Quality win today, we just edged it all game which was eventually reflected by the late winner. Hereford are a solid side but lack a bit of flair in the middle which made the difference for us.

Gutted to lose to such a late goal, but we are a work in progress.
Delighted with our start to the season. Don't think we have anything to fear.

We have made a great start, Hereford are a good side but we deserved the win over the corse of the game, we probably should have won more convincingly but their keeper made 2 very good saves. First half pretty even but we stepped up a level second half and really took the fame to them. Still no goals conceded after 5 games, let's hope the run continues. Well done lads.

Alfreton 3-1 Blyth Spartans

Really good game that with plenty of action in both boxes. Blyth arent the first and wont be the last to struggle to deal with Denton.

We would have won much more convincing had it not been for 2 magnifcent saves from the Blyth keeper.

Blyth were also a threat going forward themselves and contributed to the game. After Denton had given us the lead from a corner Blyth drew level from the penalty spot after Ramsbottom brought down Dale. Ramsbottom looks a good shot stopper but he does seem capable of a rush of blood.

The penalty seemed to rock us a bit and Blyth came more in to the game. We started the second half sloppy and it seemed to be similar to Tuesday until we had a 5-10 minute spell were we delived several balls in tthe area and Blyth struggled. Denton headed home before Platt converted a freekick to extend the lead. Somehow Jameson denied Denton a hatrick.

But overall a much needed and deserved 3 points. On to another Tough assignment on Saturday at Stockport.

Cannotimagine how poor Chester must have been for that Blyth side to put 8 past them by the way. Their in for a long season I think but I expect there home record to keep them up.

Was always going to be a hard game, given your outstanding start. Massive congrats so far.
Thanks for the compliments about us. We'll be fine this season, though the lack of attacking flair (as alluded to on the previous page) will see us fall short of challenging for the playoffs.
Doubt there will be many games this season for us which don't end up either way by a 1-0 scoreline.

As strange as it sounds considering the result I didn't think much of Blyth.

We were just stupidly bad on the day, time will tell but personally I think it was just a freak result.

I think the less said the better about this result, what a wasted journey all the way down to Kidderminster to witness another peculiar performance similar to last year's, only that one we grabbed a fortunate draw. Today we couldn't do anything after being given a difficult task of clawing back a 2-0 deficit, and losing our most authoritative player in Wheatley!

Now the turning point obviously was the red card given by the ever growing inconsistent referees in this league, for me it looked a tough tackle that warranted a straight yellow and a good old ear' bashing from the ref (especially when he made miraculous recovery). I've seen just as bad (Portas) is an example up at HP! His season was over.

Again the penalty decision, I mean seriously the amount of nudges or trips or shirt pulling however you wanna rephrase them in the penalty area, nine times out of ten the ref always bottle it? Again I've seen a hell of a lot worse than this incident.

As for the result the lads battled hard getting back into the game on two occasions, but unfortunately our back line was poor today i thought, it was far too easy for Kiddy to carve open our defense at times. TW needs to sort this out fast!

Kidderminster deserved the victory they were a much better team than us over the 90 minutes.

Good to see all the loyal Darlo fan's travelling down for the long journey and getting behind the lads even at 4-2 down. Top day barring the result.

I don't wanna put the jinx on it CFC4LIFE, but the requirement of the play-offs is looking good to be bypassed this season. What a start :brill:

Seen some absolute rubbish posted about us this week here and there, best to ignore rather than challenge it on the most part though. Despite the daft conspiracy theories all I’ve seen is a huge desire to get back out at it again. Killing us dwelling on our last result for weeks on end.

Agree Blue and White. The thing that pisses me off over the past 2 years or so after a bad defeat you get individual players wheeled out to say "we'll learn from that", "we want to win the next game for the fans", etc. I just wish they'd shut up and let their football do the talking. Everything we heard from them over past 2 seasons was words without any action.

Can't comment on the penalty or the goal the lino gave for you as they were over the other end of the ground. But the red was a definite red. Lunged into the back of Weeks, its a dangerous challenge.

Your keeper was an interesting one though. Every cross that came in he was stood at the near post. Ironside figured that out and drifted to the far post constantly and it gave the keeper so many issues.

On our performance though I'm glad we got our first win. Hopefully we can build on this now we're still undefeated and joint top scorers despite playing a game less. We still have defensive issues though disappointed we conceded 2 today.

Also Ed Williams is a class above his movement for his goal was ridiculous. I can see him getting a few for us this season.

I had never heard of a 'straight yellow' before. When googled it came up with this... I always knew they were just friends.

Given that Tommy Wright and Reece Styche have both said it was a definite red, I don't think you can have too many complaints about that. And you say about a miraculous recovery, it's not like he was rolling around for ages, he went down having been fouled like every footballer does.

The penalty was maybe harsh, but with referees clamping down on holding at corners at the world cup, perhaps we'll see more of it down here as well.

Overall, a deserved win for us, we were on top before the red and managed the game well. Dec Weeks was superb for us.

I was right infront of it in the East Stand. His stoods were showing and both feet left the ground. Definite red for me.

The sad thing is, initially, the referee was going to completely ignore it, it was only from the reaction of the crowd and the players that he probably realised the tackle was worse than it was. I don't think he'd have gave it if we were the away team.

Not really impressed by us, I can't see us winning too many games in this division whilst we are conceding two goals a game. Going forward, we are excellent though. Ed Williams needs to start, Billy Daniels is too predictable and lightweight for our midfield, the only reason he had a decent game is that the space opened up for him playing against 10 men.

Big thumbs up to the travelling 200 Darlo fans, top effort that is.

Martin Gray sacked at York after 5 matches. Not surprised at all judging by what I saw last week.

I think Daniels adds quite a nice balance to the midfield. If we were to go with Bradley and Williams, I’m not sure there’s enough defensive nous in there and we’d be opened up much more easily.

Weird for me rather than surprising..............what shocking timing, is a draw vs us that bad.......considering Gray's horrific record vs Curzon a draw was a point gained.

Can only think he's lost the dressing room or else its a silly timed decision, sack him in the summer and go for someone like Heath who knows how to get out of this league and had his players available.

now they have to bring another fresh manager in who will want another fresh set of players to suit their style and let them spend another 6-8 months building a side to then get rid if not winning each week.

always think that is why southport are in massive decline.

That's York I'm afraid and the stupid chairman, never learns, expect new manager is already in place just waiting for name to appear on web site.Gray inherited a load of shit last season but I like the look of his signings.i think Gray is a good manager and should of kept him, everybody at club and every team is aware centre midfield is where York are weak and have been for years, last 3 managers have all neglected this position.
I do believe who inherits this team with a new midfielder will do very well.

Enjoyed the trip down to Kidderminster once again despite not getting anything from the game. Few beers, good old sing song with the Darlo lot and I thought we made ourselves a tidy bit of noise.

All the best for the season.

I think the timing is down to Gray's contract, which presumably would have been up in a few weeks when he would have been at the club for a year. It seems that the board have told Gray that the contract would not be renewed, and he's left rather than see it out. Probably a good move for everyone as we are a basket case, and Gray never looked like being the man to turn that around.

Bradford (Park Avenue) 1-1 Stockport County.

Said before the game i'd take a draw but a missed a penalty and to concede in the 88th minute is was disappointing. Got to be seen as 2 points dropped.

We've got a tough run of game coming up. 8 points out of 5 games is not terrible but could do better.

Onto Alfreton at home on Saturday. Get the (dis)pleasure of watching another Billy Heath hoofball team again.
