No smoke without fire.

It's easy to be that group of 4 Chelsea fans spitting out insults with contorted red faces for 30 seconds solid to a specific opposing player and then claim afterwards that none of them used an single racial insults throughout the triad of abuse.

It's a shame it's not as easy to identify and prove as coin throwing but in my eyes it does equal damage if not worse for the footballing world.

It's not too long ago that some fool in the L2 forum said their was no real racism in football anymore. Unbelievable and unforgettable comment

Yeovil shouldn't be kicked out, you can't punish a whole club for a minority of idiots at an away game. What could the club have done to stop it? Prosecute the offenders individually.

I hope the stories about the keeper celebrating etc aren't true, false accusations of racism are just as bad as actual racism imo. Anyone found guilty of intentionally making false accusations of it should face the same length of ban an accused fan would get if they were guilty.

I'd go as far as saying it's worse, and should be punished further.

So hard to prosecute individuals within a mass of people on an away terrace

There's the alleged perpetrators being innocent until proven guilty. And then there's assuming black players are just 'playing the race card' or using false racism allegations in an attempt to gain a competitive advantage until proven otherwise.

The thing about the latter position is that you can still appear to be on the right side of the debate ('proven racists should have the book thrown at them', etc) whilst actually being very much part of the problem.

And how would that happen then? You'd have to have witness accounts of the player discussing his intent to make up a racism claim or admitting to making it up.

Or are you saying that if a player alleges racism and it can't be proven, then he should be punished?

If it's proven there was no racism then the player should be punished.

Sorry I'm late to the party guys, busy night last night. Well, is there trouble in Paradise? Is the honeymoon over? When will we hear the first cuckoo cry of "Wild Out!" (It won't be long if i know my wanky fellow Shaymen :fl:). Quite a decent turnout from the North Yorkies, for their cup final, too.

Time to push on for the Title. :ds:
Thought perhaps you had gone to Betty's for Tea and scones at the after match party.

We will wait to see what the Police investigation finds. Several fans have handed over footage of the incident so hopefully that will provide some clarity. The two clubs are together on this matter and if it means we are thrown out of the cup then so be it. The most important thing is that the idiots who threw the bottles are found and punished. If it is found that they comitted even worse offences then the punishment should be a permanent ban from football. Discrimination in any form is disgusting and unacceptable.

Story of our last few seasons - move the ball well, create chances, rarely outplayed in any game... but don't take our chances and lack the mentality / methodology to win close games. That's why we keep ending up in the league playoffs and then losing. Can't see us going up this year or anytime soon... Frustrating when, despite being PT with a small squad, I think we could do okay in the Nat League... but don't think we'll ever get there to find out. Good luck to Hartlepool.
Do you really think a club with 300 fans on a good day, is worthy of a place in the National League, probably at the expense of more deserving clubs which are run properly and sustainably on their supporter bases? Like Chorley say, or any of the Great and Historic Football League Clubs who currently share your league with you and whose progress and indeed sustainabity is hampered by the distortions inflicted on the wages market by artificially sustained outfits such as yours? There's only one way I'd wish for your club to leave that league, and I hope to see it soon. :£:£:£

I had no idea Halifax lost at home to Harrogate in this season's FA Cup qualifying round :brill:
Yeah, losing to Tin Pot shite in the FA Cup is kind of our bag, it's what we do. We OWN it: Wigan, Stafford, North Shields, Whitby (they even kindly gave us a 2 goal start) Kettering, Marine, Harrogate .... I could go on but I'll take them ALL, everyone of them, for HALIFAX TOWN 1, MANCHESTER CITY 0. :db:

It's not about dismissing I just go with facts and evidence, rather than the media's constant moral outrage to get clicks on websites and newspapers sold. If it's true then the harshest punishments should be enforced, but the whole guilty before the facts come out is something I can't get on board with.

The thing about the Sterling incident is that after he actually criticised THE MEDIA afterwards. Then the media just turned it in to criticism of fans instead to suit their agenda.

Jesus, a Brackley fan playing the shoestring card.

Anyone about to fall for the plucky non league minnows line, be aware that they are bankrolled to absolute fuck.
Well, I'll certainly be happy to take advice from a Darlington fan about how to run a successful club...
Wasn't trying to play any sort of 'card', but whatever the budget it ain't enough to get sufficient players to fill the bench... and when you're competing versus bigger squads, some with bigger budgets, some who are full time, it isn't going to be easy to progress.
PS
Would you be able to fill me in just how much we are 'bankrolled to absolute fuck' - it's just being a fan for 14 years, no one's given me the breakdown of funding, as they have presumably to you.

So you think there isn't any sort of issue generally and it's just whipped up by players and the media as the issue of the day ?

And they will move onto something else next week.

I know it's not clear in this incident but there have been racist issues online etc which cannot be ignored .

Along with other forms of discrimination ofcouse - all neds to be stopped socially - not just in football .

Bit harsh if we think back to the FA Trophy run, and the Play-off final, when draws became 1-0 wins, and losing positions became draws late on in games.. Don`t entirely disagree though - Mattie Lowe and Lee Ndlovu have lots of qualities, but one thing both lack is composure in front of goal. Brackley do not score as many as they should, for outfield build up and general quality of passing. One key difference from two seasons ago is a certain Aaron Williams - hattrick yesterday for Telford, I note! Squad is small, and while playoffs are attainable, I have my doubts about the "promised" land of the National League. Best starting XI matches most of the NL sides, but it is about more than 11/12 players. Time to dig in in the league, three points at Farsley would be a good place to start.

No shame losing to what I have no problem acknowledging is very good Harrogate side. In fact I not only recognised that on this forum this week, I was saying it all last season too. And they should be, with the amount of money going in. So, yet another #fail for you I'm afraid. Sorry. Don't give up though, I'm loving the attention. :bdick:

Of course you are, I have a feeling you live for internet attention :ohy:

Funny you should say that because last time you ran away with only a hurried "bye" as you left. Hope that doesn't too often

Money helps but doesn't guarantee you anything, our relegation last season is case in point.

I'm learning all the time about non legaue football, today's lesson Halifax lose often to lower leagued opposition in the FA Cup. Ahhh the romance of the cup :bg:

Well, I'll certainly be happy to take advice from a Darlington fan about how to run a successful club...

Sure, what would you like to know? Three promotions since becoming fan owned and truly living without a benefactor.

Wasn't trying to play any sort of 'card', but whatever the budget it ain't enough to get sufficient players to fill the bench... and when you're competing versus bigger squads, some with bigger budgets, some who are full time, it isn't going to be easy to progress.

Well first of all you were mentioning your small part time squad, seemed like a "card" to me. Up against those full time giants Hartlepool (who incidentally pay shit wages). Poor Brackley, against all odds.

Regarding yourselves being up against clubs with bigger squads and more money, some who are full time, I hear you. York for example get gates of 3,000 AND are bankrolled on top. But why should you even entertain the thought of competing with them, or rue that you can't? It's chalk and cheese. You get gates of just a few hundred, and even bankrolled on top of that you are unlikely to be able to match the financial muscle of York City.

PS
Would you be able to fill me in just how much we are 'bankrolled to absolute fuck' - it's just being a fan for 14 years, no one's given me the breakdown of funding, as they have presumably to you.

Correct me if I am wrong, but do you have an owner that puts in money on a yearly basis to keep you competitive? (which you shouldn't be, at this level). If this is true - then that's bankrolling is it not.

If your players are all on £100 a week then fair enough, but I suspect they aren't.

See a club can be part time, yet pay full time wages - there are examples in our league such as Spendy, Hereford, and so on. Not saying you do, but in this day and age the statement "we are part time" means very little.

It's somewhat disgusting to see the lengths some people are going to in attempts to justify an incident of (alleged) racism, and just act as proof of how much of a problem we still have with racism in this country; the comments about the players only walking off because they were losing or about the keeper supposedly celebrating after walking off are particularly abhorrent and disappointing.

There's no point harping on about the incidents in Bulgaria in midweek if we then go to all sorts of lengths to justify racism in our own country; you can say that's not what you're doing with comments like those I've referenced, but that is exactly what those comments are doing regardless of your intent.

Obviously, we need the facts to fully emerge first, but it is concerning that people are so determined to dismiss any incidents of racism and look for other causes; trying to sweep the issue under the rug is seriously problematic.

Last time I was at Yaxley I heard racist abuse from home fans.

If Yeovil are thrown out, I’m off down the City Ground at their next home game to shout some abuse. They might get kicked out of the league.
