No wonder Braintree's pitch is fucked if they are having to play 38 games a season on it, the rest of us only have to play 23 plus the odd cup game the poor bastards.....

If a game is postponed twice it's still only played once in the end...

Likely to be making the case for 3g to the Football League.

Reading the posts above it seems fans of teams with 3G pitches do slightly exaggerate the amount of postponed matches on grass. Think we've had about 3 postponed in 3 years at Kingfield.

The legions of Twitter blokes who have a hard-on for 3G that account retweets - some of them get angry if anyone dares criticise 3G - is just embarrassing. If you like it, keep it to yourself. Who cares?

3G is shit anyway.

There are some notable exceptions, not that I'm going to call Braintree out.

I think it would be sensible to have 3G within the football league.

I'm very much of the opinion that 3G will be allowed into the FL the same way as it got into this division. A club with 3G will be allowed in and whilst initially no new 3G pitches will be allowed the FL will eventually not care

If they're so bad, why is the FA spending millions of pounds on grants for new 3G facilities? If they're so dangerous, why do so many professional footballers train on 3G? Pretty soon, the only competitions at any level not allowing 3G will be English leagues.

"The 2015 Women’s World Cup was played entirely on 3G pitches in Canada and was a great success."

Was it? Weren't players moaning about it all tournament?

I'm strongly against 3G pitches in any professional game, say what you like about them in terms of reliability and upkeep, but the ball bounces weirdly. Been away to Sutton and Bromley this season, they were lumping it forward and the ball just sits up beautifully after the bounce, on a proper pitch you couldn't do that, the ball would skid out of play.

Not to mention the fact that people never fancy a sliding tackle on the artificial surface.

If they think of introducing 3G into the football league it will be a bad joke - invest in ground staff, job done.

And whilst bad weather may result in less postponements due to pitch conditions, it doesn't make a jot of difference when it's the terraces and surrounding areas that are unsafe due to heavy snow and ice.

Probably just your players not fancying a tackle, hence why you got dicked by both of them.

Yep, we should absolutely hire more expensive ground staff, cut out the six figures we make from pitch rental, and get rid of our community program which helps fuel interest in the club. Totally sound business policy there :ffs:

Did nobody tell Scotland they cannot win on 3G?

Can you imagine the whining if they had lost?

I'm not a fan. There is that much to be gained from having a 3g pitch commercially and financially that clubs will be installing them left right and centre even if they've had no previous pitch trouble. Call me old fashioned but I don't like the look of the artificial pitches and no matter what the 'experts' say, the ball doesn't play the same as on grass.

We've only had a handful of games postponed in years. Obviously with some exceptions, there is no reason why with proper grounds staff and investment in drainage etc. all clubs can't boast a similar record. Teams like Braintree are more than happy to have a playing budget sufficient to sustain mid-table Conference football on tiny gates, so why can't they afford to spend a bit on fixing their pitch?
We spent over 30K on drainage before the start of 2016/17 season and not had one postponement since. Unfortunately we were relegated but going well at the moment and hoping for a swift retutn.

Well played England on a superb 3G pitch. If it's good enough for the world cup, it's good enough for English lower leagues.

As there is debate as to whether 3G pitches are allowed in the National, I think it's about time sloping pitches like that witnessed today at Maidenhead today are outlawed. Honestly it's 2018 in a mainly full time division and sides are subjected to that. A pitch which would not look out of place in the Bostik leagues. Both a downhill and cross slope along with goalmouth at one end that is humped in the middle. A level playing surface should form part of the National league ground grading criteria

Most decent pitches have a slope from each touchline to the penalty box for drainage purposes, but I get what you mean!

At Underhill the goal line at one end of the pitch was at the same level as the cross bar at the other end!!

Maidenhead's just slopes in half a dozen different directions at the same time. Comical. Only thing that has come close in recent memory was that at Radcliffe Borough. Even the pitch at Harrogate before it was levelled was not that bad. Sunday league stuff.

Grimsby's has a hell of a camber on it in the penalty area.

How tinpot. Just goes to show what a joke the Europa League is. Wouldn't see proper clubs like Spartak Moscow or Lorient using artificial surfaces.

I imagine that it's pretty difficult for a grass pitch to be functional in the interior of Northern Sweden in February!

Do 3G pitches magically repel snow? And do they help clear the terraces and surrounding areas for health and safety purposes too?
