Why are you so defensive about it? It doesn't even involve your club. It's honestly really fucking weird to me.

You're confusing defensiveness with amusement GB. I simply find it funny that something as inaccurate as your claim (Klopp left Dortmund in a mess) has become almost a stereotype with some people. Take it as being 'weird' if you wish though.

Klopp had one bad season, although even in that he finished it well, only losing 3 of their last 14 league games (and winning 8 of them) whilst getting to the last 16 of the Champions league. What people do (including you I suspect) is look at the bad start and run they had which at one point had them near the bottom of the league and announce that he left them in a mess without considering they finished on a decent run. The team and players he bought and left for Tuchel didn't suddenly bexome shit. Also, having to replace sold players on a regular basis was part of Klopp's remit too, it's part and parcel of being Dortmund manager. It's was a regular occurrence, even during the many seasons of success under Klopp.

Anyway, Wenger.

Why are you so defensive about it? It doesn't even involve your club. It's honestly really fucking weird to me. A large part of Tuchel's good work at Dortmund was solving the problems Klopp left him and getting the team back to winning ways. He did really well turning them around, especially considering the high player turnover (and the quality of players that left the club). This is something that actually happened. Of course it gets mentioned when his credentials are discussed.

I don't fully agree with my good mate Beelo mate, I think he's gone a bit over the top in his criticism. But I do agree we need to see more of Tuchel at a high level before any real conclusions can be drawn on his ability.

As for Arsenal, I think they'll go with a relatively big name manager rather than the likes of Howe or Dyche. Ancelotti maybe. Vieira or Arteta hopefully, that'd be fun.
Mate. Friend. Loyal companion of the controversial opinions. Klopp didn't leave Dortmund in a mess. They were looking like relegation candidates halfway through the season (you and/or Dessie predicted them to go down, I 'member) and then during the second half the season they were, again, the second best side in the country. So it's very fair to say Klopp cleaned up his own mess, what with getting them from the relegation places to European football within 15 games. I stand by my criticism, which can be TL;DR to: he's achieved nothing and is hyped like a reliable world class manager. Stop it.

I was hoping Big Weng was going to say 'fuck it', go to PSG for a season, spend mega dolla dolla and win the Champions League before riding off into the sunset.

It will be surreal to see him managing elsewhere. I can only really picture him having a go at the French national team.

The man has gone from a pioneer to a laughing stock but I've always liked and respected him. I hope he gets another moment of glory before he hangs up his stupid jacket. Europa League would be a nice ending to the Arsenal portion of his managerial career.

Well, I guess I must have imagined him spending 65mil on players who largely failed at Dortmund, and were mostly moved on as soon as possible because of their failure to perform. What I find amusing is that the only player of note that Klopp was forced to sell, or certainly the only one with quality comparable to the 3 Tuchel was forced to sell, is Gotze. Kagawa if we're reaching. But in your mind one (again, two if we're going to be lenient with you) player in 7 years is somehow comparable to Hummels, Gundogan and Micky Targaryen all being sold in the same window, despite promises they wouldn't be. A regular occurrence you claimed mate. Stop stereotyping Dortmund's transfer policy Pags.

What people do Pags mate, apart from actually watching and following German football, is take in to account more than just the last 14 league games, and the fact that the next manager had such a high player turnover in such a short time because the previous manager had royally fucked up the previous summers spending, leaving the club in a mess. Perhaps that's why Dortmund had to sell 3 of their best payers in one window?Maybe the players he bought for Tuchel aren't shit, but of the 4 most expensive signings from his last season, none of them are at Dortmund anymore, so they were definitely deemed not good enough. Ginter is the only one you could argue had any impact.

Klopp was superb for Dortmund, and you're right, he did only have the one bad season. But he left a mess, and Tuchel cleaned it up sharpish.

I most certainly did not predict Dortmund to go down, and I doubt my very good and loyal friend Dessy mate did either Beelo mate. You stop it.

New manager sells players to stamp his own brand shocker. I see your mind is made up GB so I'll leave you believing that Dortmund was a royal fuck up when Klopp left and that their form in the 2nd part of the prior season means nothing.

You are right, you most certainly did not. Apologies.
Arsenal will beat Monaco and Dortmund will go down.

I love how the Arsenal fans are getting their frilly knickers in a twist about not wanting Rodgers. Like they have a clue about their club; remember we all got told how shit Ox was!

Because it makes him sound a bit gay.

On a serious note, you're confusing me with someone else (Spear maybe?) because it's the first time I've ever referred to Rodgers using that name, and mainly because it had an amusing ring to it in this instance. Sue me.

Brendan Rodgers would be a very weird appointment but certainly not as bad as made out. He should get a lot more credit for the 2013/14 season than he does, but he's not what Arsenal need.

One of the great managers the game has had. Took Arsenal onto the next level, and made them what they are today. Even with all the Wenger Out etc etc, he was still winning trophies. Got no time for Arsenal fans, but it's a fantastic club. They will be lucky to find someone who could deliever what wenger did, on, and off the field. Whoever they appoint will need time.

I've known people who've lived, fucked and then died during his Arsenal reign. I really don't like the fucking Gooners, but North London is going to be weird without him. So much of their identity was cultivated by Wenger. They went from Pagnell to Martino, and then slid into weird Ebeneezer territory these past few years. I think they might need a GB-type to sort them out now.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...anager-restricted-50m-summer-transfer-budget/

Arsène Wenger’s successor as Arsenal manager will have to work with a restricted summer budget of around £50 million following two club-record transfers and three major new contracts in the last 12 months.

Unlike new managers over recent seasons at the two Manchester clubs, Arsenal’s new appointment will not be able to transform the squad with a large spending spree without first making big-money sales himself.

So they need a manager who can work well on a tight budget.

Moyesy?

Good shout. Accustomed to the 4-4-2 as well to accommodate two strikers so a good fit as well

There's inevitably been a fair few comparisons with Wenger's contemporary Fergie leaving United, and the issues United went through subsequently in rebuilding and finding a fitting successor. As I remember it, Fergie squeezed every last drop out of that squad he left Moyes in winning that last title, with very little future planning for the subsequent season or so as Fergie had usually done throughout his years. It left Moyes a significant rebuilding job on his hands, and obviously one he struggled with.

I look at Arsenal, and there are issues mostly around the defensive half of the side. But with some fine attacking and creative options, plenty of younger players who may yet come good (or may not make the grade but still recoup transfer value being sold to lower PL clubs), and supposedly some cash in the bank left for a rainy day to help build the defence. I'm sure whoever Wegner's successor is will have a reasonable platform to work with.

I don't know what the expectations are around the fanbase, whether there's a danger of them assuming that Wenger leaving will suddenly fire them back to title challengers, but that's probably not the case.

Just stay the fuck away from Howe :P1: I'm sure they'll want someone a bit higher profile and more proven, experienced in Europe etc.

The closer we get to his departure, the stranger the prospect of English football without him in it gets. And that's for someone like me who was in his mid-20s when he arrived. It must be even weirder for the multitude of Arsenal fans who have never really known anything else.

We have a precedent though in Ferguson, that was even more strange. Coupled with the fact United have never really recovered despite it now being 5 years since the event.

Wenger's time has come and gone, but there is no doubt he'll be missed.

i think that the only two coach that will be accept this work are Patrick Vieira and Brendan Rogers.

Arsenal for the second year won't be in the Champions League. It will be more difficult buy top players and will be less money for transfers.

it will be a hard work, similar to that happened after the ferguson era.
