I would like to visit the UK over a weekend and attend at least two GENUINE Brittish football games in nice and genuine settings (both stadium and city/town) and engaged crowd. I think championship, league one and below would be most likely to meet these parameters. Please give me your best tips!

You'd be more than welcome at AFC Wimbledon. We have a strong support from Sweden and the Swedons are regularly in attendance. We play on the outskirts of London and our ticket prices are quite reasonable for the level we play at. Our stadium is awful but we make up for that in friendliness - unless you have sympathy for the team that plays in Milton Keynes.

London is an obvious choice as you have a wealth of clubs and it's the capital but there's plenty of options around the country.

Wait til June when the fixtures are released then you'll have more of an informed option.

Sheffield is an OK place and on the cusp of the peak district, steeped in both industrial and football history and easy to get to from several airports, you could get PL home game and an EFL away game if it falls right.

If you need any help or advice just ask.

To catch two games over a weekend, geography might have a bearing on the choice.
While, like Sheffield, Bristol is a very good place to visit, we're a tad isolated geographically.
Either London or the North (Lancashire / Yorkshire) would mean minimal travelling to catch 2 games IMHO as there are lots of clubs within a short distance. Maybe the midlands could be an option but, in my opinion, London and Yorks / Lancs are nicer places to visit.
I would agree with Southey, once the fixtures are out, you may find two games, relatively close together and you may be lucky enough to find games with a bit of local rivalry to add a bit of spice too.
Enjoy.

Thank you very much for these replies, very helpful! What about less well-known teams, ”hidden gems” both in terms of football atmosphere and location, also below PL and Championship. Any tips?

We've got two Swedish players in our squad at the moment and you'd be more than welcome to join us, but I'd recommend seeing us away as opposed to home as we're a bit out of the way if you're trying to minimise travel. I'd look to do your trip in August/September when they weather is more likely to be decent.

If you want to visit an area that lives and breathes football like no other in England then you have to go to the northeast.

It seems to me that completing two matches in one weekend may be difficult, I would recommend spreading it out over a longer period of time if there is such an option. Even though we are a bit isolated, I recommend visiting the Bossfield. In addition, my heart beats the unique Yorkshire and if I had quite honest advice, I recommend spending two days on Yorshire rather than going crazy from one place to another. In my opinion, it is one of the most atmospheric places in the UK
