What are you basing that on? I believe that we are the true continuation of WFC but even I can't deny that most of the fans went and started Kingston, so they have a pretty big connection...

Their colours/badge are Wimbledon.
They will soon hopefully be playing back at Plough Lane.

That's debatable, we inherited the squad and staff, and are still paying something towards the pension plans I believe.
I'm beginning to think of it like this, while the fact that most of the fans follow them, and location place AFC as 'the real Wimbledon' there is no doubt in the legal/financial side of matters.

So what your saying "I'm not allowed an opinion" if its not agreeable with yourself ? Forums are all about opinions -- some you agree with some you don't but still opinions.

AFC Wimbledon are the spiritual continuation of Wimbledon FC, there is no denying that. They have the same colours, the vast, vast majority of Wimbledon fans moved over to support AFC Wimbledon and unlike us, they frequently reference/bring up the old Wimbledon history. AFC Wimbledon are the closest thing to the original Wimbledon, even more so when their new stadium is built in Plough Lane.

We are the legal continuation, in that the same assets, players, infrastructure etc of Wimbledon FC moved to Milton Keynes. However, today's club is no reflection of Wimbledon FC, never has been and never will be. We don't ever reference Wimbledon FC, or mention anything pre-2004. We handed back the honours to Merton council a while ago. The club treats itself as a new entity and no link to Wimbledon. The only remaining vestiges are Dean Lewington and Paul Heald, both still with the club after their Wimbledon days.

Apart from not yet 'dropping the Dons' name, since the move in 2004 I think we have conducted ourselves well in terms of distancing ourselves and not pretending to be something we're not.

I have no major issue with AFC Wimbledon, they have a reason to exist and I can appreciate how well they have done to rise through the football pyramid so quickly. The only issue I have is when AFC Wimbledon claim the honours/achievements of the old Wimbledon, yet contradict themselves by saying they have done things for the first time as well, such as play in the football league. It's just not a true reflection of history.

As far as I'm concerned, Wimbledon FC and AFC Wimbledon should be separated in terms of honours/achievements. But AFC Wimbledon are the spiritual continuation.

Appreciate what you're saying, but I think that legal/financial side of matters falls under the umbrella of 'the place in the football league'.

For most football fans, the connections to a football club are considered to be spiritually and morally.

Ok, still not true and still no reasoning as to why you think this.

Anyway, no point wasting our time going on and on about it. It's nothing personal, George and I appreciate opinions are opinions but just think this one is more of an inaccurate statement, and that's just my opinion

Finishing 12th in the championship doesn't make you a massive club. Trying to compare yourself to Charlton, Blackburn and Portsmouth using a stat likes that just makes you look insignificant.

I'm unconvinced about Mowbray. Think Wigan will become a yoyo club between the second and the third. I think we'll finish midtable and Charlton will be up there but Bradford won't find the form of last season.
