Wolves also tried to adopt and adapt Marching on Together several years ago.

I don't have a problem with popular tunes being changed to be bespoke to different clubs....but when its written for a club and a traditional, historic song like Marching on Together and used by another club it sounds shit.

What was the origin of 'All Wednesday Aren't We'?
Donny Ricky started wawaw about a decade ago, Leeds always copy us, the Radebe song etc. Same as forever, older, "bigger', better.

Really poor from you lot that, sort of shite I’d expect from Crawley or Port Vale, not a proper club like Villa. Same with that Di Matteo song the other year mate.
We are as proper as they come, but we have had some right tin pot shit songs. Tbf we got a couple of new ones that ain’t too bad, but I’m getting too old for all this singing and jumping about :)

I'd love to see a video of Wolves doing that

That Reach song is a banger though. Brand new tune as far as I can tell, a little bit of "Rotterdam" with a new ending, and lyrics which suit the player it's for. Makes a change when all you hear is Achy Breaky Heart clones or the Sloop John B tune. Can't remember the last original song our fans came up with. Ripping it off within a week and just changing the name of the player is lame af. Leeds used to be better than that

Most clubs the same now. No one can match Manchester United fans for originality, although I do believe they robbed the glory glory song off you?

Most clubs might, but it's the first time I remember Leeds doing it. We usually wait till a lot of other clubs have copied the song before ripping it off, and even then it used to be subverted and personalised a bit. I doubt Glory Glory is a Leeds song, probably Tottenham.

Rumour is we're in for Adam Reach in January so Sheffield Wednesday West Brom might have to come up with a new song for us, for him

Radebe's song was just Radebe repeated over and over though (with Lucas added at the end). Was it one of your "band's" "tunes"? Can't have been an original composition

But yeah, nicking a tune or adapting one is part and parcel. Glad we haven't gone down the "Grigg is on fire" route yet. It'll probably become our Reach song, if we have 15m, which we don't

That cabbage song is class by the way. Shame on Wednesday for nicking it and ruining it

We’re a nightmare for it, even started that Allez Allez Allez now.

We have finally come up with something original for our Striker Lyle Taylor, unfortunately it’s to the tune of Saturday Night by Whigfield!

Can’t remember if the “we’re on our way” song was originally Wednesday’s or Boro’s but I liked that, shame it’s been ruined by clubs like Brum catching on and singing it to the wrong rhythm...

We’ve had a few original chants that’ve caught on around the country, the “(insert player) runs down the wing for me” one has certainly caught on.

Same as most clubs though we just sing generic shite, it’s getting even worse with “S82” at Ashton Gate which in some ways are just trying to replicate the “ultra” shite which goes on at Palace.

Aside from MOT still some old ones out there being sung: "...His name is Billy Bremner he's the captain of the crew for the sake of Leeds United he will break himself in two, his hair is red and fuzzy and his body black and blue as Leeds go marching on..Glory Glory Leeds United..." etc etc plus several other bespoke verses. Genius. As good as the 'Leeds United Calypso'..penned and sung by Ronnie Hilton early 70's and still sung today albeit not much.

Sounds like Leeds only became semi important between the mid 60s and 70s, no real history.

It's true we only became the iconic football name we are in the mid-60s ;). There was the odd good crowd before that, and I think we once finished 8th and reached a cup quarter final or two, but we were a very mediocre yo-yo club before Revie, and Leeds as a city was indifferent to the game until then, largely because of the history of football in all its forms and all its splits and politics.

Apart from '65-'75 and '90-'01, we're nothing but a Bristol City or Cardiff City on the pitch (no offence), but that's still 2 decades and we've not yet reached our centenary

If we're talking history, Manchester United, Liverpool and the New Zealand All Blacks could never have become what they are without Leeds and West Yorkshire. True story

Anyway what's this song you know about a player who played for a semi important club you don't care about over 40 years ago?

I think glory glory was first heard at Leeds. Spurs and United copied it.

It’s saturday night and I like the way you move, Lyle Taylor.
He scores all the time and he’s Charlton’s number 9, Lyle Taylor.

By the “we’re on our way” do you mean the Everton song about the school of science?

Also, when did you first sing the “runs down the wing for me” song cos I remember Wigan doing that for Victor Moses in like 2009

As I walked down to Villa Park one dark and dusty day,

I spied a poor old City fan running far away,

I said to that poor City fan, it looks like you must die, ‘Cuz you have seen the glory of … Holte Enders in the sky

Yippeeh aye aaaayyyy yippeeh aye ooohhhh, Holte Enders in the sky.

We chased him through the terraces, we chased him down the streets,

But little did that City fan know that death must be his fate,

‘Cuz Villa fans rule Birmingham and city fans know why,

‘Cuz they have seen the glory of…. Holte Enders in the sky

Yippeeh aye aaaaahhhh yippee aye oooohhhhh Holteenders in the sky”

This is original as it comes, and is solely a villa song. Pity we don’t sing this in full, and only sing the “Yippeeh aye ooooohhh Holte Enders in the sky” part. An old terrace song from the 70s.
