You shouldnt have been allowed to start the season until you were allowed to sign players. Another farce from the EFL. This was always going to happen.

That is the correct answer. I don't personally like it but those young lads have been brilliant, with no support from the EFL or the PFA. The PFA don't care about scholars (because they don't pay subs), so aren't really bothered

As we are already on -11, have still no prospect of being sold, have only youngsters who are able to play, so we will lose all matches at the moment, they might as well deduct as many points as they want

So, are you saying your team - made up of mostly U23s - is not allowed to play. Or they have chosen not to do so.

Are the Football League still waiting to impose a points deduction for not playing the game last season or have they quietly forgotten it happened?

Extremely unfair if Bolton and Bury get to replay all the games they're postponing between them. The FA is being pathetically weak - why were both allowed to start the season? Fair enough Bolton have played every game up to now, but they must have seen this coming, starting the season with three senior players. Any Donny fans who've booked to travel to Bolton, we'll happily accommodate you at our place against... Bury. Fuck, maybe not...

I don't want either club to go bust, but both should have been expelled from the League over the summer.

Funnily enough, this is an area where the National League is far more professional than the EFL. If you can't present realistic budgets at their AGM (in June I think) then you are relegated, as happened to Gateshead this season and Hereford and others in the past.

Bit frustrating as a Lincoln fan having our opponent on Saturday (Doncaster) having a week off, where as we have to play our game on Tuesday against MK then play a fresher Doncaster.

Maybe we should postpone our game on Saturday because our lads will be too tired.

Under EFL rules, and under their own health and safety we have requested that as per the EFL rules, the scholars (as only 3 are full time professionals) cannot be asked to play another game within the timescale set down by the EFL.

Chosen not to, by the looks of things. Not sure I buy the excuses above, there are U23 players in squads all over the county playing twice a week, and it doesn't mean teams can cancel games whenever they want citing that 'rule'. Christ, it's only the second game in a week, it's not like they're playing every other day.

FFS, how many of the 92 teams have 90% of their squad under 23, with the league appearances of those 90% in their career being the matches they have played this season? Stop looking at this as one or two under 23's.

These lads have played 4 matches in 11 days

The issue is that we chose to cancel the match without telling donny or the EFL

I am assuming that most of these players are actually teenagers rather than 22 year olds?

We've played five league games already with an average age of player under 23.

I think we would prefer the game rather than the rest we have too many new players that need game time to gel

Upon the announcement of the suspension of our Bury fixture on the opening day, Chief Exec, while sympathising with Bury’s situation, made it perfectly clear that we don’t expect to have to play our game there at any point in the future if they survive.

I’d imagine that any club affected by these cancellations will have that same stance. The curious thing will be whether the other clubs agree with us all being awarded the points? My guess, is not. That’s going to be a huge can of worms for the rest of the season.

What an absolute mess, neither Bury nor Bolton should have been allowed to start the season. I feel every so sorry for the fans of these clubs. The EFL have ballsed this up big time, the continuing kicking the can down the road has been ridiculous. Sadly, the EFL will not have learnt from this fiasco. The sheer incompetence of them is laughable.

Donny should get the 3 points.
We should but I bet we don’t. There is a precedent to this:
On Tuesday 2nd April 1974 Exeter City were due to play a League 4 game at The Old Showground (that's Scunny's old ground for you youngsters).

Exeter had a bout of illness and a number of injuries in the squad and asked the FL to postpone the match. The FL refused. Exeter then refused to travel and the game was postponed.

Following a FL inquiry Exexter were fined, ordered to pay Scunny compensation for their expenses and the FL awarded the 2 points to Scunthorpe.

Until recent events this was the only football league fixture never to have been played.

Donny should get the 3 points.
And any players under 23 should be given free tickets to Alton Towers, or Yorkshire Wildlife Park as consolation in case their bottom lips wobble. The Bolton lads can amuse themselves with their PS4.
The situation with Bury and Bolton is beyond ridiculous.

Under 23 and can't play 2 matches a week ffs. If they're not able to play a couple of games a week at that age then there's something wrong with em.
I feel sorry for the Bolton/Bury fans but this is a fkin joke.
It's unfair on the the other clubs in the league.
How can Tranmere play Bolton's under 23's and win 5 nil. Then possibly poor old Donny might have to play a strengthened Bolton if the takeover goes thru and they strengthen.

Sort it out EFL ffs.

Sorry but that’s old enough, under 17 fair enough but lads 18 and above are serving in our armed forces

Sorry, but that’s complete whataboutery.

The only reason the average age was 19 is because we had one 24 year old playing. In reality, the average age was even less.

Within our starting line-up, we had four 17 year olds, an 18 year old and a 19 year old - On the bench we had three 16 year olds, three 17 year olds and a 18 year old.
None of whom had played any professional game of football two weeks ago.

To expect them to play at a level 3rd tier level every three days which is what is currently happening and will do at a number of stages over the course of the season, is asking for health problems. Hence the welfare concerns raised by trained medical staff.

I do fear for our season, not sure what we’ll do if the takeover isn’t done before the window closes.

As others have said, it's the EFL's yet failing again. I don't blame Bolton for using the EFL's own rules to stop their kids getting thrashed every week. But it makes a mockery of the competition if teams that play them now win an easy 3 points (or get given them) but teams meeting them after they can sign players in January come up against a full-strength side. Only possible fair decision can be to relegate them now for next season.
