Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Tough game and should have been more comfortable after the first half, but showed some resilience and got the win. A bit of a wake up call, I think.

Lazy second half. It's like Guardiola half-time teamtalk was: it's ok lads, it's only Napoli. They won't score against us. They can't even score a bloody pen!

Pathetic: Dortmund 1-1 in Nikosia. Now they have to "battle" with the Cypriots for the Europa League spot. :ffs: (at least they haven't lost, even that was possible. Swiss Guy Bürki again with an error. This guy has now made a big error in every CL match so far)

At least Leipzig is back on track. Very entertaining first half and their first ever win in European competition.

Liverpool's 7-0 was already mentioned but the other extreme, the 1-5 loss of Sevilla, is also noteworthy.

So, Bayern today at home against Celtic. Not that I am excited about Bayern but I'll be watching this because this is shown live in German Free TV. And this will be the last season we can watch the Champions League in Free TV because from next season on the Moloch Sky has the exclusive rights (they already have the Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2. )

So, what's the opinion about the match from our resident hardcore Celtic fans, SALTIRE and Leo? (Sorry, Leo, couldn't resist to tag you here. I know you don't like european football and naming you a Celtic fan is unforgivable ;) )

I've never supported Celtic in my life, though my dad supported them. Always quite liked watching them though, so will be mainly watching this one whilst keeping an eye on Chelsea v Roma.

I fear they could get a pasting. Heynckes is back isn't he, the players will be rejuvenated and up for this without a doubt and I think they'll smash the Bhoys. Hopefully it won't be a dead rubber by half time.

Man Utd facing the youngest goalkeeper in CL History tonight v Benfica. as Mile Sivilar is just 18 years and 52 days old.

Isn't there some stat about Heynckes never beating Scottish opposition in European competition as Bayern manager?

Lol if such a stat exists, I'm sure he'll rectify that tonight, and with Thiago, Hummels, Robben, Muller, Coman and Lewandowski (with Vidal and James Rodriguez on the bench) I can only see a hammering coming.

I'm inclined to agree but you never know.

I'd like to see Celtic win.

The most instantly forgettable game I have ever seen.

The fact that tonight was seen as the toughest game in this group says it all really.
Next.

Watched the best game of the night it seems. Chelsea got a quick brace thanks to a quality David Luiz shot and a rather fortunate Hazard goal without playing particularly well. Roma weren't playing badly and got back into the game thanks to a deflected Kolarov shot (another lucky goal). Second half saw the same amount of goals but with much more quality. Dzeko made it 2-2 thanks to an exquisite volley before getting his 2nd with a header from a free-kick. Roma were then 3-2 up and it was frankly deserved. Chelsea almost didn't react but equalised with a goal from nowhere. Pedro's crossed was expertly directed in the bottom corner by Hazard. Good goal but undeserved.

Still find this Chelsea side very underwhelming and can't see them beating anyone decent in the CL this season. Morata and Hazard are too isolated up top and the midfield just isn't adventurous enough (again, Fabregas, why does he start? and why is David Luiz subbed before him). Also thought that Zappacosta was completely useless tonight.

No probs Dirk. It's not 'European' football I don't like, it's the monster that the Champions League (a misnomer if ever there was one) has become. Christ, even the draw for the group stages would send you to sleep it's so drawn out. Anyway the match....didn't watch it but not surprised with the result. If Celtic had won or drawn that would have been fine but no tears seeing they got beat. As Celtic dominate in Scotland...reverse role in this competition mate.

Tbh, the 3-0 flatters Celtic a bit, could've easily been 5 or 6-0 for Bayern. On the other hand, later in the 2nd half Celtic had some chances when Bayern let it flow a bit). Celtic's Goalkeeper was very good and their best man, their d# was shite. But I read that this isn't the "normal" Celtic d# formation.

Anyway although I like it that Bayern got some vital points ( for the shattered reputation of the Bundesliga so far in this CL (and EL) season) ) I am also happy that the result was only 3-0 in their favour (seems to be their "thing" in this CL group (3-0,0-3,3-0, so maybe Celtic can hope for a 3-0 win in the return leg in 2 weeks? ;) )

I really hope that Celtic will reach #3 spot for the EL knockout rounds. Anderlecht shouldn't be a big problem.

So, Germany's 3 CL clubs have got 2 wins and 1 draw in this matchday, after 1 win and 5 losses in the last 2 matchdays. Would be good if not the 1-1 of Dortmund had happened. That was embarrassing.
