To be fair 4000 Vale fans turned up too.
I doubt many Vale fans turned up to watch the game and even less Stoke fans doing the same. In the main most were there for one thing.

That was to watch their first team though. I doubt that half of the Stoke fans there didn't even know who any of their players were!
I'd rather watch our youth team against a full team than our full team against a youth team.

So far we’ve played four... none have tested us.

The only ones who would compete are possibly Man City and Chelsea.

Do you even realise what the youth academis of Southampton, Villa etc have produced in the last decade or so

They aren’t worried or concerning themsleves with League Two first team shite lol .

Yep= my first game was '81 so we'd been around a few years by the time I was of an age to see them. Somehow don't think we'd find anyone from 1884 still interested in LCFC.

Most of them are thrown into the team young because they are good enough or alternatively as you know with Grealish loaned out!

No it isn’t as Vale get the money but the attendance is one short!

Paying to watch the game is indicative of having an interest in the game. Do you not think Harvey would use the ifollow figures and cash generated to help justify this shite?

And that's not all. If Luke Imp is correct then 80% of Valefan's tenner is actually going to Stoke and not Vale.

And it's the away side who pocket 80% of the money (FL 20%), which is daft given it's the home club who miss out on the ticket sales (not in every instance, though, obviously).

I'm a little unsure about this claim though. The money from the weekend games definitely goes to the home club, of that I'm sure, but the money from the midweek games goes to the away club?? Hmm. I dunno.

The money goes to which ever club's ifollow you watch the game on. Presumably Vale fans used their own club's website to stream the game so it would have been Vale who got the money.

It goes to Vale. It was said on the radio during a game a few weeks ago the amount we made per stream but can't recall exactly what it was!

Checkatrade might be different, not sure.

I've taken that 80% figure from the Accrington Chairman who explained how iFollow worked on his Twitter a few weeks back.

wonder if the Sunderland v Newcastle under 21 is as big a powder keg as our game last week ?
Very much doubt it.

We have Shrewsbury so maybe 1000 there as normal service resumed.

Good draw that in terms of chance of progression although they knocked us out last season.

Sunderland v Newcastle was obvious! Wonder how the Sunderland fans feel about it? Like us I guess!

Although Sunderland have been getting 8000 home gates and took 1500 to Morecambe .
Maybe as it is their first and probably last go in this joke of a competition they don't quite get what has happened.

It's very much a lose/lose. Win and "we don't care, it's just the youth team" and even worse if we lose we'll never hear the end of it. Hoping we can just go about the game in a similar way to Port Vale; Hammer them, move on and laugh at our rivals who "don't care" as they rip up seats and get a life ban.

The tickets will no doubt be cheap so both teams won't exactly be bringing their normal support. I'd be surprised if there's more than 20k there, I for one will be at home pretending the game never took place.

You probably have the mild bonus that Newcastle fans can't help but care and like you say, if you do thrash them will likely embarrass themselves.

We beat Southampton's academy in a friendly a few years back, they may produce good players but they don't start showing real promise until they graduate to the first team, while they're in the academy then like any academy player, lack of experience shows.

True they get moulded in Marchwood , and they produce better than good players. Great production line historically

Apparently another vote was held by EFL and clubs narrowly voted in favour of keeping it in its current form.

According to some articles, clubs know it is not popular with the fans but the money from premier league makes up for it.

So there you have it, EFL and clubs confirm the fans no longer matter. How long before B teams in the league are on the table with enough money to make fans no longer matter?

Yep... our BoD voted in favour again, despite the fact that when they first polled the fans, 98% were against it.

So Lincoln have said they reluctantly voted for it for three reasons, first because the EFL sprung the vote on them so they had no time to consult supporters..... Surely they have had the last couple of years to get fans opinion on the matter?
It also gives lge 1 and 2 clubs a chance of a Wembley final.... This incidently was also the case before B teams came in.
And finally because without the PL money it wouldn't be financially viable, thereby admitting the EFL have created a competition that has alienated fans so much clubs lose money from it so have to rely on the PL instead of trying to get fans to come back and make it financially viable.

The whole thing stinks and am pretty sure most chairman including ours have voted for it for the same stupid reasons.

Like I say they have all said B teams in the league will never happen, but how long before the PL offer enough to make it happen?

I'm not really sure whether we've taken a good stance or not, tbh.

We agreed the format is ok, which it is if you look at the format in isolation i.e. local group stages and knock-outs, rather than the teams involved, whilst telling the EFL we don't agree with the U23 sides in it, as per supporter wishes.

They did consult the Supporters Board, who meet every 6-8 weeks, and last did so before the FGR game on 3rd November I think. They supported the proposal “with reluctance.. due mainly to the continuation of the current format involving the invited clubs and the strong possibility of one of them reaching the final and devaluing the competition”.

The disappointment from the Club in the consultation process review is probably down to the shortened, or no, dialogue with the EFL. We know they'll not want to talk about it and keep things ticking over.

Given that most Clubs will have voted 'for' I would've liked us to take go against the grain and take a proper, firm stance on it. We seem to have gone in 50/50.

EDIT - Just seen members of the Supporters Board were contacted by email rather than being discussed at the meeting prior to the FGR game.

I know it's unlikely but wouldn't it be great if Burton got to the final of the Carabao, just to nail this thing about the Jokeatrade being the only opportunity of a Wembley appearance.
And speaking as someone who has been to the new Wembley five times I can confirm its overrated.

Keep boycotting and someday they will get the message. They can't keep giving us the same group- the novelty of playing Yeovil and Rovers has long since worn off

I like the idea going around of an organised boycott of a game where the PL doesn’t ‘pick up the tab’

Either an FA Cup or one league round of games.

If people still believe that sh•t about ‘never vote b teams in league’ they are deluded and likes of City and Chelsea will get desperate for it when fifa band 40 plus loans
