I thought the stewards and policeing was very poor. They were very lackluster, they didn't even really try to prevent our fans from getting on the pitch.
I know they get paid money to do this as a job, but this is largely the problem with stewards in the lower leagues. They are generally totally unqualified and untrained people, getting paid fuck all to do a mostly boring job for a couple of hours every few weeks. Yes, they take the money, they should do their job, I get that. But would I risk getting into a scrap with some little scrote and getting smacked or injured in the process? Nah.

Ok, so don't become a steward then, fair argument. But good luck finding 20-30 people from your local area who are willing to risk potential injury for no reward, especially when the big mobs come to town.

My favourite steward was the one who thought he was in an episode of Bodyguard because he had an ear piece. They were slightly out of their depth, all seemed to have contradicting ideas and they didn’t seem to like their boss either. Didn’t help that the police presence was non-existent until outside the ground (where there was a minor scuffle).

Vale away is going to be fun when the police go in heavy handed and all the dicks causing trouble on Saturday blub over the nasty police.

I imagine after the Lardies trashed the away end and with Crewe seemingly now having an element similar to the Vale one which was ironically often looked down on by Alex fans a few years ago as being a disgrace that the police presence will be huge that day.

We don't now have an element, what utter nonsense. This is the first time we've seen major issues with pitch invasions and criminal damage. I mean, there hasn't been any of that for most of the past 5-6 meetings with the Vale, home or away, which suggests to me it's unlikely we see those bellends again for a while. By the time we come to Vale Park, we'll be well out of both the promotion and relegation battles in all likelihood, so I can't see people travelling in the same numbers as they did to Macc.

Macc is just a better away day. Better town, better drinking establishments and aside from the lack of a roof, a better away end than at Vale Park. Oh and a much lower chance of things kicking off as well. Plus we hadn't played them in almost 7 years, which always brings out bigger than usual numbers.

We'll bring the usual 1,000-1,300 to Vale Park in April and unless we are in a promotion race, things will pass off relatively without incident I'm sure, just like they have on our last 2-3 visits.

Love how one sided the media have been on this as well. Nobody seems to mention the Macc fans on the pitch goading the away fans after the 3rd goal. I think one of the videos also shows them stood on top of the dug outs.

There hasn’t been any trouble in recent meetings? In April your fans ran on the pitch and one lamped our keeper! Certainly in the more recent meetings especially at GR Alex have started to have more trouble makers in attendance against us.

Macc is a very good away day, similar to Burton where we can take big numbers and it be much more relaxed than say the Vale-Crewe or in our case also the Shrewsbury games which have too much hassle associated with them.

Yeah, got to disagree with JJ there. Last season at VP when we won 1-0 and Dagnall scored we came out of the away end and around 20 Vale fans set upon a bunch of Crewe fans kicking and punching whilst the police just watched. If our form continues we’ll bring more than usual and that will bring out the Vale nutters.
