Probably the hardest match for any Wirral based Tranmere fan to attend with either a 5 hour drive or train trip and with the train no direct public transport to the ground. Would imagine that will put a dampener on our away following and limit it to 3-400.

The game is probably more important to Colchester than it is for us in the context of the playoffs, a Tranmere win would possibly mean the curtain coming down on Colchester’s season while a win could tighten things up again.

At Prenton Park Colchester were efficient and defended well, a Scott Davies error gifting them a share of the spoils. It’ll be interesting how the two teams compare now with changed personel.

Well set up similar to The Exeter, aggressive closing down and quick counter attacks to try and take an early lead, then set up to frustrate with the outlet of the divisions leading scorer, who is the best player in the division on the counter attack; Tranmere have the most counter attacks resulting in a shot of any team in the division - 110.

0-1 Tranmere
Norwood

What we have to be aware of is not giving too many set pieces away near our area. At our place it appeared that Colchester`s game plan was to win corners and free kicks, fill our penalty area with their 6.4 plus giants and launch the ball in hoping to get on the end of it. They scored their goal from one such play when Scott Davies punched it out straight to Harry Pell. If we can restrict the set plays we will be fine but if we don`t and we continue to give away stupid free kicks Manny and Ellis are in for a busy afternoon.

I only live an hour away, but the £24-26 tickets and the problematic parking are seriously putting me off.

Having to give this one a miss. Colchester is a terrible away day though, so not the end of the world. We're due a defeat there and can see us getting turned over, as that's the Tranmere way of doing things.

You don't half talk some crap, 'the tranmere way of doing things' what? Losing sometimes like every other club in the world?

Pretty sure it was you who said something like 'this is the kind of game we don't turn up for' about a routine home game that we went on to win 4-1.

We've scored one header all season and play on the floor.

It’ll be interesting to see if Ben Tollitt makes the squad after a decent loan spell where he kept Wrexham’s hopes of not spending a 12th season in non league alive.

Your a team of giants to be fair and very physical but did knock it about well at our place in fairness.

Based on a) the experience of watching us for long enough to know complacency is usually followed by a loss and b) the recent memory of losing a "routine" home game to Northampton on a similarly cold tuesday night. And of course, the Tranmere way of doing this is to end seasons strongly and secure promotion, you're saying? Last year maybe, but unlike yourself, I'm no deluded fool.

I recall you being one of the 'bigger' sides in terms of height to grace PP this season. That's not to say that you don't play football, think you started off quite negatively in the game, but John McGreal made tactical adjustsments at half-time which got you the draw.

Kieron Morris is fit again, so I would be surprised to see the returning Tollitt in the squad. Not confident about this game, but hopefully we'll get something out of it.

I don't think you've ever been confident for a Tranmere game to be fair judging by your predictions on here

I’ve only ever been to the Layer rd ground and that was pretty much 36 years ago to the day of this fixture. 3-3 draw it was and I think Owen Brown got a brace in front of a bumper away following of 2 coach loads.(1 coach went to the league cup final the following day)
Anyway I’ll be cheering Rovers on from the comfort of my hammock in Thailand. Would be happy with a draw( hope this isn’t too negative for anyone!)

Can we see it out or even extend our margin?

Huge second half for Colchester’s playoff hopes and our top 3 aspirations.

Superb defensive performance, capped off with a couple of goals on the break. Mellon managed that game perfectly.
