An exciting signing for us today: Lewis Walters on loan from Forest.
Was on the fringes of their first team before injury, and seems to be a speedy winger/forward. I remember when we were linked with McDonagh from them last season, and this guy was considered well out of our league at the time.

Chester today:

In - Dan Udoh (Crewe), Sam Hornby (Port Vale) Both loans
Out - Nathan Vaughan (Worcester)

Hall-Johnson is also back a few weeks early having recovered from the injury he picked up in the Wrexham game. Cracking player he is, has been badly missed.

Good keeper is Hornby. Got good reviews from his loans at Kidderminster and Brackley.

Udoh is another player who came out of the Ilkeston Academy. half decent on the rare occasion I saw him.

Hornby is a cracking signing. Was one of the main reasons we were 2nd last year with the one of the best defensive records in the division. Definite improvement on Vaughan.

Been fantastic so far for us too, in all the games he's played he hasn't put a foot wrong.

Recently signed 20-year-old keeper James Talbot from Sunderland until his 21st birthday on 23rd April next year. A bit of luck we might have another Jordan Pickford who we had on loan for 3 months in the 2011-12 season.

Hornby already looks a good signing even though he didn't have a lot to do v Solihull. Commanded his box though and we've not had that recently.

Why has Lynch fallen out of favour? Probably the best performance by an opposing keeper v Rovers this season.

Agreed he played well that day, but he's quite short for a GK and doesn't often venture off his line.

Bargain for 450k IMO
Absolutely, but they got lucky with his contract running out in 6 months.

I thought we were getting zilch, now we have some cash to put towards signing a decent striker Andy Cook

Back in the fold and enjoying his football now. Plus, all his potential replacements have been shipped out on loan, as Mellon has realised none of them are good enough.

Gerry McDonough will be available in January.

You would obviously be a real threat if you did use your windfall to bring someone decent in. However, signing good strikers in January is very difficult, as we found a couple of years ago when we signed an overweight Michael Higdon. Looked a great signing on paper, but did nothing.

More chance of Wrexham scoring from a free flowing counter attack than Cook going to that shithole.

Wrexham can cross Matt Rhead off as well. Signed a contract extension on Wednesday.

Roberts from Oxford, rather than Cambridge, I assume? He's NL South standard at best and I'm surprised he still has a contract there.

Yep Oxford, it kind of demonstrates my enthusiasm at the moment :(

Played on loan for us under Burr. Looked useful, but got injured and his brother died in a car accident. When he returned wasn't same player. Surprised he was still at Oxford to be honest.
