Are Sky going to show more league 2 games now Salford are up?

Also what's the actual benefit to Lim in owning Salford? I get why the class of 92 enjoy it, but he has no links with the area and doesn't get any glory/attention or anything. They aren't gonna be turning a profit any time soon.

Suppose for Lim it's likely a legitimate trading loss to use against other profits so if he's in with the C92 in property ventures it is likely to be used though given the level of monies involved I'd suspect that it is all hidden in corporate shells.

Other theory is he couldn't afford Man Utd so has used Salford as a base, comparatively lower investment but not unfeasible that it could end up lucrative given TV deals and maybe the PL.

To play devil's advocate what is Vinces point for his investment in FGR, a Norfolk boy is far from home in Nailsworth.

You do realise he has lived in the Stroud area most if his life and made his money around here.

Believe me Stroud has a lot of the types of people right up Vince's street.

FGR is a Stroud valleys team, not just Nailsworth.

No I didn't, I'm fairly uneducated on the life of Mr Vince, it was just a quick Google.

Fine. Is 'the absolute majority of the clubs we follow are propped up by wealthy individuals' better for you then?
Better, but the point is you predicated your arguement on a fallacious position. You fundamentally do not need wealthy owners to build successful teams.

Looking at Salford squad, and considering the wages they shell out it is not half lacking in quality, I suppose whatever the money it’s difficult to attract in non-league.

They looked very average when we played them a couple of months ago. They'll spend big again.

Fairly obvious isn't it? Using Salford as a Trojan Horse for a tilt at the riches of the Premier League before a super-league is formed. The bonanza after new broadcast platforms take off is predicted to dwarf even today's eye-watering sums.

The stated aim was originally the Championship - but that was before Lim came on board. They now have more than enough money to at least match Bournemouth's gamble.

We need to stop trying to find reassurance in the belief that Salford are unlikely to break even in the lower leagues and will fail for financial reasons. Profit on the way up is immaterial and by extension fanbase equally so - losses are simply a punt on the riches awaiting in the top flight even if you get relegated after one season. Bournemouth were an established League club with a decent fanbase and even their gamble involved running up £32m in debt with a wages to turnover of over 200% the year they got promoted - a stake which has paid off big time. If Salford have to gamble £50m to get a good chance of making vastly more from promotion to the Premier League, they have the weapons to do it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lim/Class of '92 noted Bournemouth's example, just as I'm prepared to bet there are suddenly extremely wealthy men eyeing Salford's example and casting an eye over likely candidates way down the pyramid. If this becomes a new paradigm it represents a real danger to us all.

There has already been talk of a new stadium at some point in the future - presumably the cost will be offset by their property company redeveloping Moor Lane.

Don't think for one minute this can't happen. Salford are already through the gate and not much can be done about them except show the casuals how much contempt we have for them and to explain exactly why . We have to hope that people will wake up before other clubs follow their example.

As someone else said, part of me hopes they smash promotion to the Championship with ridiculous squads and farcical budgets, so the absurdity of the situation is impossible to hide.

According to their forum, and the 3 users on it, they will be charging £125 for Season Tickets next season and £62.50 for concessions.

Which just goes to show that they are prepared to take financial losses in order to advance "the project" - in this case trying to manufacture a replacement fanbase to disguise the absurdity they are pioneering and at the same time increase the fellatio the meeja are determined to perform on them with a bit of PR.

This is not Rushden & Diamonds, or Crawley, or FGR - it's something new.

A season ticket would cost me £75 more at my local non-league club, a step 4 non-league team. Salford will also be able to include these ST's in attendance figures even if they do not attend.

There's something more sinister about Salford than the other teams, by 2025 it wouldn't surprise me if they are knocking on the door of the Premier League. If Peter Lim goes on to buy Manchester United as someone suggested on here, the situation is just outrageous. It's B team football through the back door.

German fans at least know what they're dealing with with "Rassenballsport" Leipzig. Not only will lower league fans generally let this go without batting an eyelid, some twitter-only football types and the media will postively encourage. The only lads I can imagine drawing attention to it are the lads at Lincoln who are now in League One, so doubt we'll see any protests at games.

I suspect the primary aim is a tilt at the EPL rather than being a MUFC B team. A B team won't require an ascent up the Football League and would attract unwelcome attention from the football authorities and more unfavourable media attention than they would like. I guess the proof will be the amount they throw at it now they're in the EFL.

If it's the former and it succeeds, or looks like it's succeeding, just wait for more shock moves for tiny non-Leaguers by mega-wealthy tycoons. In which case we're f**ked. Look forward to gradually being replaced by doped trojan horses.

English fans are so mesmerised by the EPL, the Class of 92's celebrity status and indoctrinated by the political/socioeconomic "greed is good" transformation of the last forty years that I doubt there'll be the sort of solidarity and mass opposition we see towards Red Bull Leipzig in Germany. Our lot are more likely to behave like turkeys voting for Christmas while rubbernecking Beckham and Neville..

I briefly lived on the same caravan site as Dale when he was still a New Age traveller :D I worked in the Peli in Stroud and shacked up for a bit with a traveller woman used to come in when they were all parked up the cycle track past Dudbridge. If I'd known he was going to be a millionaire might have sucked up to him a bit.
