Finally played our Surrey Cup 2nd Round game with Leatherhead. We lost 2-0 but we are still going through as Leatherhead's goalkeeper turned out to be ineligible for the game.

QF with Metropolitan Police coming up!

Leatherhead played an ineligible player? The potential for an interesting tie for Sutton in this competition still stands (if we can get through to the next round)

News on the grapevine. Apparently our manager even mentioned it to Leatherhead’s manager pre game but he still went ahead with the goalkeeper anyway.

Since that I’ve seen on our forum that we may have also fielded an illegible player but the player hasn’t been named. Reminds me of our QF with Tooting in 2007(ish) when we both got kicked out of the cup.

GGL for the final? Seems decent choice... better than Imber Court that is for sure! Would have thought Surrey FA would opt for the new Walton ground for the final tbh.

Update - now Leatherhead's official Twitter account has come out & said all players were eligible.

Surrey FA rules state that a player must be registered with the club at the original date of the tie to be eligible to play, the original date was like month ago... they signed their keeper last week.

With the nature of your squad this season other than Tolfroy do you have any players who were at K's when the original tie was scheduled?

Superhuman effort from the club today with help from the locla community and even the ref got todays Derbyshire Senior Cup Semi Final v Ilkeston on.

The players battled in tough conditions and continued snowfall. Not a classic but a Brendon Daniels double in the second half in front of a crowd of 205 sent us through to the final where we will play Chesterfield.

Lost 2-1 at home against Merthsam. The dream is over

It's alright mate, Surrey FA never did anything about any ineligible players in our game anyway so you'd have probably been stuck with Met Police or something in the final anyway.

Oooooh Leatherheadgate lives on! Their Surrey Cup QF tie has been postponed while the Surrey FA investigate the use of ineligible players during their second round match against K's.

Not how we'd prefer to progress in a cup but if we are reinstated then it makes this a very winnable competition with the highest ranked teams left all coming from the Isthmian Premier level.

We made it to the semis of the North Riding SC, and lost to Middlesbrough U23s last night. 3-3 at the end of 90 minutes, lost the shoot-out 3-0. Yes, we scored nil penalties.

In any case, had we got to the final we'd only have lost to Thornaby or, even worse, Scarborough.

At least we won't have to play on that 3g pitch at Scabby and have there fans celebrate like they've won the world cup.

Leatherheadgate is over. Surrey FA rule in favour of Leatherhead & uphold the 2nd Round result vs Kingstonian.

Interesting decision as the rules do state players must be registered to play on the original date of the fixture to be able to take part in postponed county cup fixtures & their goalkeeper wasn't at the club when the original fixture was due to take place. It's a stupid rule, but it is a rule. But apparently not a rule the Surrey FA are bothered to enforce anymore.

Derbyshire Senior Cup tonight v Chesterfield. Very little interest in the game particulary from.Chesterfield for obvious reasons. Be nice to get some silverware and take advantage of chesterfield being at such a low ebb.

Survival plus a trophy would signal a very successful season imo

Chorley beat Clitheroe 3-2 at Bolton's Macron Stadium to lift the Lancs Challenge Trophy for a record 18th time. Won with virtually a full academy side as well which made it very creditable.

I'm not sure i'd class this season as a success.
We went from a team sitting comfortable in 4-5th place after 18 games, to a team that only just about stayed up........its been a shambles if anything.

Well if you'd offered me it at the start of the season I'd have definitely taken it, survival has to be the main goal until we properly consolidate
