Has anybody else entered their County Cup yet?

For reasons unknown Alfreton have entered the Derbyshire Senior Cup at the Second Round stage for the first time since 2009/10. (We normally enter at the Third Round) We have been drawn at home to Glossop North End.

Think we’re playing Haringey Borough in the London Senior Cup at some stage. How terribly exciting.

At Yaxley, we're already in the Huntingdonshire Senior Cup semi-final, having beaten Huntingdon Town 3-0 at home in the Quarter Final a week or two ago

Southport won 5-2 At Holker Old Boys last night in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy. They had conceded 20 goals in their last two matches, and are bottom of the North West Counties league, so probably isn't that convincing a result. It's still better than the 7-0 drubbing we got off Bamber Bridge at the same stage last season.

We’ve been drawn away at Sutton Common Rovers in the Surrey Senior Cup. SCR groundshare at GGL so that’s convenient I guess

Nuneaton Borough crashed out of the FA Youth Cup after holding a 7-2 lead with less than 30 minutes to play.

Halesowen Town came from behind and progressed 9-8 thanks to two goals in stoppage time.
Nuneaton Borough 8 Halesowen Town 9.

Home to Glossop North End in this years Derbyshire Tinpot Cup tonight

A medium of interest in that we are playing mostly our young development squad who have been doing very well in the Central Midlands League North with the FA Cup game with Fleetwood on Sunday

Home to Bamber Bridge in Lancs Challenge Trophy 2nd Round tonight, chance for the fringe players to get some game time, though we could do with a win to get back on track.

Seems Martin Allen has opted out of the County Cup for us this year, as our squad is too thin. We used to play the kids anyway so no idea what he is on about. Disappointed for local non league clubs who I know loved playing at our place in this competition, even if it was in front of about 300 people.

Have to agree. Very poor and short sighted decision. Especially as defending champions

Alfreton progressed 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Awful waste of an evening.
Do it all again v Buxton on Nov 27

Yeah. Couple of mates play for Staveley and Clay Cross and are big town fans. They were absolutely buzzing to play us in the competition in previous years.

We turned over Clitheroe 6-0 earlier this week, and have drawn Garstang in the quarter final of the Lancs Challenge Trophy. Now Chorley are out there are no decent sides left in it, and that includes us!

He once brought on a fan for the last few minutes of a county cup game while he was here. Needless to say he doesn't take the county cups too seriously!

https://europeanfootballweekends.wordpress.com/2010/05/08/barnet-fc/

"Apart from Fry, the funniest game recently was a Herts Cup match at home to Ware. Steve Percy, a long grey haired Barnet fan who last missed a game, reserves included, in 1981, had won a competition for place in the squad. Martin Allen, in charge at the time, thought it a good idea to put him on the substitutes bench. The Ware manager got a bit narky about this, so with minute left Allen sent Percy on. He promptly nutmegged a Ware player, got kicked, reacted and all of a sudden it started a 22 man brawl with the bloke being sent off. As the Barnet fans bestowed their aching sides in the stand behind, the ballistic Ware manager went bonkers and offered them us all outside for a fight."

We got knocked out of the Cheshire Senior Cup (as early as I can remember) by Congleton Town the other night. I don't think anyone lost much sleep

We're set to host St. Neots Town at home in the Hunts Senior Cup semi-final, but this game isn't going to take place until the end of February (so goodness only knows why we played the Quarter Final against Huntingdon Town so early)

Brackley Town Reserves (Saints) vs Brackley Town First in the semi final of the Northants Senior Cup (Hllier Cup). Perhaps this deserves to go in the tinpot thread.....

Our SEVENTH consective home fixture tonight in all comps, a club record, as we host Buxton in the Derbyshire Senior Cup quarter finals. Wouldnt be surprised to see a crowd of less than 3 figures.

Orient’s reserve team thrash Haringey Borough 2-1 to keep the dream of the treble alive.

To the interest of next to nobody through to the Semi Final of the Derbyshire Senior Cup after a 2-0 win over Buxton tonight.

Away at Matlock next with Mickleover Sports or Clay Cross Town (who?) awaiting in the final

You've never heard of Clay Cross Town? Play down Holmegate. Should get promoted into NE Counties this season from the Central Mids.

Did you go to Chesterfield 7-1 Long Eaton United?
Remember that Chesterfield hadn't played a game for over 2 weeks due to the weather and when we saw your team sheet we were cacking ourselves. 9 First teamers!
Strange one for me as I was media manager for LE and got walked into your media room. I said "nah, I just do it from the seat" and I got blank stares!
I think Chesterfield got into trouble too for letting us borrow your sub goalkeeper after ours went off injured and we had used all our subs up. He later joined us on loan for the season, Cameron I think his name was.
We played Alfreton a few seasons ago losing heavily at their place too.
