The season kicks off in two and a half weeks, how are we looking?

GK: Maxwell, Rudd, Crowe
RB: Fisher, Woods
CB: Huntington, Clarke, Davies, Storey
LB: Earl, Hughes
CM: Pearson, Browne, Gallagher, Johnson, Ledson
W: Barkhuizen, Robinson, Bodin, Horgan
AM: Burke, Harrop
S: Maguire, Moult

Out on loan:

Hudson (Bury), Spurr (Fleetwood)

Available for transfer/ unwanted:

Vermijl, Boyle, O'Connor, Pringle, Doyle

Positions you need to strengthen still:

We still need a physical striker option after being priced out of a move for Keiffer Moore.

I presume we still have a bid in for Callum Connolly too which suggest we're looking for someone who can cover at right back and in the centre.

We're in pretty good shape at the moment - probably the best the team has looked in a while. For the moment Konsa and Benrahma are probably downgrades on Bjelland and Jozefzoon, but are young with lots of potential so should be improvements over time.

A few players out of contract in 12 months who will probably be sold. Could probably deal with most of their departures, might need another body in CM. Probably ideally still short of another striker to replace Vibe, but I think we'll probably roll with who we have.

Need a back up left back - as looks like Henry will continue to be out for a while, but have Odubajo on trial who would be good cover for both full back positions and on the wings. Hope he signs.

The only two words to describe our current squad at the moment is absolutely massive:

Goalkeepers - Scott Carson, Jon Mitchell & Kelle Roos

Defenders - Richard Keogh, Curtis Davies, Alex Pearce, Craig Forsyth, Andre Wisdom, Max Lowe, Jamie Hanson, Jayden Bogle & Marcus Olsson.

Midfielders - Tom Huddlestone, Craig Bryson, Mason Mount, Bradley Johnson, Jacob Butterfield, George Thorne, Joe Ledley, Timi Elsnik, Callum Guy, Harry Wilson, Tom Lawrence, Mason Bennett, Luke Thomas, Ikechi Anya, Nick Blackman, Kyle McAllistair & Kellan Gordon.

Strikers - Chris Martin, Matej Vydra, Cameron Jerome, David Nugent, Charles Vernam & Offrande Zanzala

Some are a lot more experienced than others, but that's pretty much our senior squad & experienced U23s combined. I imagine 10-12 of those will leave either permanently or on loan before the start of the season / end of August for the loans.

Your three squads look very strong at this stage, whereas us...

GKs - Fielding, O'Leary
RBs - Pisano, Hunt
CBs - Webster, Baker, Wright, Hegeler, Moore
LBs - Bryan, Kelly
CMs - Pack, Smith, Morrell, Brownhill, Walsh, Bakinson
Ws - Paterson, O'Dowda, Adelukan, Eliasson
STs - Diedhiou, Taylor, Weimann, Djuric

We need a quality GK (we have Mäenpää from Brighton on trial currently, not sure if that fits the bill...) a quality, hard defensive midfielder like Ben Pearson or Sam Hutchinson and a striker (Marriott still very much possible, and needed).

Looks bleak currently though.

Looks a decent squad to me bar the keeper, can certainly put out a strong first eleven.

We haven't brought anyone in as we try to shift on a few high earners, with Rhodes and Hunt gone we've probably brought in about £3.5M with the loan fee for Rhodes as well. If we stick with the 3-5-2/3-4-3 I'd like us to go like this-

GK- Westwood

CB- Hutchinson
CB- Lees
CB- Van Aken

RWB- Palmer (Hope not)
CM- Pelupessy
CM- Bannan
LWB- Reach

LF- Forestieri
ST- Hooper
RF- Joao

Can't see Lee being fit again before Wigan but he'd definitely be in the team as he's the only goalscoring midfielder we have. Forestieri and Joao have the skill and creativity to play as inside forwards while the wing backs provide the width, we definitely need better than Palmer however.

Yeah would agree. Certainly a lot of quality up front in Diedhou and Weimann.

The strongest we’ve been for a while IMO. Only thing missing is the new RB who is looking to be Sam Byram, but even if we started with Darikwa I wouldn’t mind

Pantillimon
Kapino
Smith

Darikwa
(Byram / New rb)
Dawson
Figueredo
Worrall
Fox
Osborn
Robinson

Bridcutt
Watson
Guedioura
Yates
Colback

Gil Dias
Carvalho
Lolley
Soudani
Goncalves
Cash

Grabban
Murphy
Brereton

One more striker if I’m being greedy but Soudani can also play there so it’s not mandatory.

Lots to shift too and I expect Mancienne, Mckay, Clough, Vellios and Ward all to leave as well as a few kids to be shifted out.

Happy with that, so much more going forward than last season. I think we will have a go this year but it’s too much too soon to expect a realistic promotion push.

Blimey looking at these bum squads I'm beginning to understand how it could be that Cardiff got promoted. We could be looking at records here.

Decent enough first eleven but not exactly strong in depth. Think that was our downfall come the end of last season.

We were a little burnt out and had no other quality options. Would have loved Pearson or Browne in our squad, think you’ll do well again this season.

That forward line is ridiculous.

Hooper and Fletcher very suspect injury records, Winnall will be injured for the first few months after doing his ACL, expect we'll go with a front 3 of Forestieri, Nuhiu and Joao for most of the season which is still an excellent t front line, Matias can come in and provide the flair and creativity if Joao or Forestieri drop off form.

As of now this is what we have. It looks a big squad but I've included a lot of youth team players/graduates that have played in pre season but won't feature at all in the actual season and senior players who will be sold/loaned out before the window shuts.

GKs: Walton, Jones, Evans
RBs: Byrne, James
LBs: Naismith?
CBs: Burn, Dunkley, Bruce
CMs: Morsy, Power, Lopes, MacDonald, Laurent, Flores, Weir, Burgess
AM/WFs: Powell, McManaman, Jacobs, Massey, Walker, Roberts, Colclough
CFs: Grigg, Vaughan, Cole, Gelhardt, Lang

I won't lie that squad doesn't fill me with much confidence. It's a couple of injuries to key players away from being relegation fodder. As you can see we have no specialist LB although I expect that will change within the next week or so. We also need a good CM, another CB and potentially a striker should we sell Cole as rumoured. On a positive note, unlike two years ago we've got a top keeper who will prove himself to be one of the best in the division and a defence who kept 30 clean sheets last season including a shut out of Man City. The team sprit and fitness is great, they'll work their bollocks off for each other and we won't be easy to beat.

Worst of all he’s hoodwinked many of our fans into thinking he’s good after he kept quite a few clean sheets in the three months Walton was out injured. In reality he hardly had a save to make thanks to our defence and when he was needed, proceeded to punch one in the net with his biscuit wrists to gift Bradford a last minute winner.

Our squads average age is about 10.

GK. Ingram, Lumley
RB, Furlong, Kakay
CB Hall, Lynch, Baptiste, Leistner (new signing)
LB Bidwell, Hamalainen

Wingers, Wszolek, Wheeler, Osayi-Samuel
Centre, Freeman, Cousins, Scowen, Manning, Goss, Luongo, Chair

Attack, Washington, Smith, Eve, Smyth, Oteh and Syla

Loads of youth. Really need another centre back as ours are injury prone. Need a right back as Furlong is injured and Kakay is shit. Prob need another winger. Get rid of Washington and let Eze and Smyth play more often.

Looks like we will set up as 4 2 3 1. My fully fit team would be

Ingram
Furlong Hall Leistner Bidwell
Scowen Luongo
Freeman Eze Osayi Samuel
Smyth

Wouldn't surprise me if you had a similar season to what United har last year, you've got momentum and a half decent manager.

Hope so. I do have a lot of faith in Cook, he’s not had a bad season for about 10 years wherever he’s been, albeit not at this level. We’ll know more after August, our fixtures are horrific and we could quite realistically lose every game which would destroy that momentum and confidence.

You wouldn't be wrong, but at least this time they all have championship experience and the attacking options are better. We have 2 more CB's coming in so wheater and beevers won't be first choice soon, but I am not over confident

Surprised by the lack of business done by the promoted teams, Rotherham have strengthened in defence but I don't see goals in that team.

Fairly happy with our squad which is as JJH posted plus Eisa. Just need a GK which we will get but it's a shame we haven't upgraded CM for the last 4 years.
Midtable expected.
