So we're a bit screwed at the minute. This article will explain it better than I can.

http://www.fansfocus.net/dagenhamandredbridge/index.asp?stid=8324636

Scott Doe, our captain, has left.

Morgan Ferrier and Sam Ling have both had to go to balance the books. Both have resigned for former clubs (Boreham Wood and Leyton Orient).

Football is shit.

I did wonder how Dagenham had that squad on those crowds. Hope it all works out for you.

Out of interest, why were the fans so against Glyn Hopkin and his consortium in the first place? Seems odd that he's barley taken over and already the fans are on his back. Or is that a PR move by the consortium to blame the fans?

Wish the Daggers well, sad to see another owner just pull the plug and walk away - This happened to us 12 months ago which is why we're in this league so I know the feeling of how empty it can leave you.

Any decent players we could sign? We need them right now.

Dagenham in financial trouble, losing some of their best players and a TV game against us on Saturday.

Why do I feel a 1-0 home win is going to happen?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't that arrogant clown Tamplin, once showed some interest a few years ago into taking over the Daggers? And another club from that neck of the woods, before he got his hands on Billericay.

He tried buying Brentwood, Bishop Stortford & Dagenham.

I take it he was a determined guy to get his greasy paws on somebody's pride and joy, and make a mockery of the club.

None of our fans have ever been against Glyn Hopkin. We have a very obnoxious and self wallowing MD who has been dictating everything at the club for many a year, His stubbornness caused our relegation and some can't forgive for that. The line portrayed is its the fans fault but Hopkin has personal issues which may have led to his decision. It's a very odd decision given that Hopkin has been a club sponsor for 20 odd years just to see the club almost go under.

We still need to get rid of several players and are just lucky that we have barely enough points to secure safety from relegation. We could still go into admin and be left with a Youth team very soon.

The players that have left are probably our most important bar one, the ones left behind are average at best, I can't see where our next win is coming from. No wonder our players have been well below par since October when this all started or brew.

I hate football.

Yep.I blame it all on Alexis Sanchez

Saw a post on Football Away Days the other day:

“Alexis Sanchez earns £400k a week. ONE week of his wages could save Hartlepool. Everything that’s wrong with modern football”

Someone needs to explain to the melt that runs that page how economics work.

There was a big daily mail article (I refuse to capitalise that horrid tory rag) about Alexis Sanchez’s agent earning x amount off the deal and how he’s justifiably earnt it. In that same article it then randomly ranted about how Hartlepool didn’t deserve a penny. Very odd journalism but obviously shows how massive we are.

Yes basically. Glyn Hopkin was a part of Tamplin's original consortium but withdrew as the takeover date was getting closer and some of the stuff about Tamplin's history started to come out. Hopkin then went in alone. We all trusted him since he'd been a sponsor for years and had some affinity towards the club. There's a lot behind the scenes that we'll never know but basically we need to lose some players to get the wage bill balanced. We'll be ok long term but as The Terminator said earlier in the thread, it's left an empty feeling. The club has been on a downward spiral for the last 6-7 years really so hopefully we'll turn the corner at some point.

Sad this for Dagenham, remember being at Wembley when they beat Rotherham in the League Two play off final, and us playing then at Hillsborough in league football. Hope all works out for them.

Corey Whitely joins Ebbsfleet.

Cheek will probably be the next one out. Hope we can scrape a win or 2 somewhere to get above 50 points.

Tranmere need a third striker and we had Cheek lined up as a potential replacement for Cook last summer.

I’ve seen Boreham Wood and Ebbsfleet both mentioned in accordance with Cheek. Haven’t heard him mentioned with you guys though

This is a disgrace what "Alexis Sanchez will be earning at Man Utd"
Salary after tax (£)

1. Second 0.57
2. Minute 34.72
3. Hour 2083.33
4. Day 50,000
5. Week 350,000
6. Month 1,400,000
7. Year 16,800,000

Football at the highest level is like a number of sports (Basketball, F1, Golf, Tennis, Baseball) in that it is just a tv show and the participants are more akin to entertainers and rewarded as such. 16m compared to what some sportmen earn is almost nothing. Next summer analysts are predicting the first baseball 1/2 billion dollar contract (for 10 year deal i.e. 50m per year).
Alexi Sanchez's salary is about a relevant to the plight of Hartlepool as Jude Laws income is to the people participating in the pantomine at Hartlepool Lido.
Until the conference and it clubs start taking responsibility for their own issues and stop blaming everyone else for their own stupidity the league will remain a complete joke.
Every year clubs prove time and time again that you cannot run a full time squad on crowds on 2-2,500 people with either outside income, a sugar daddy or running up debt/losses, yet every season half the league set out to be the exception. Then they wonder why they are all complete financial basket cases.

Intriguing day.

So Cheek has turned down a few clubs to stay which is a decent bit of news, although hopefully that means we don’t sell Fejiri.

Darragh MacAnthony has also expressed his interest at getting involved with us in some aspect. Always had a decent relationship with Peterborough in the past, essentially acting as their feeder club on some occasions

Sorry to hear that Daggers fans. I really thought you'd bounce right up too - especially the way you played the last game of that season in L2.

Too many clubs nowadays are dropping out of the league and struggling financially. Torquay, Stockport (remember them?!), Orient, Hartlepool, York, Darlington & now Daggers are all teams I was watching us play week in week out as a teen.

Hope it goes well for all

Did I miss something?

They had awful financial problems for quite a while - are they finally recovering?

Thanks for the well wishers. Our money problem is due to an investor pulling out, our board should never have spent without a guarantee.

We play West Ham in a Friendly in two weeks 3,500 tickets already sold expected to make about £30-£40k, along way off the £200-£300k needed by season end.

Last night crowd just over 4,500 and with raffles and a few other incentives should make around £50k. Need to find at least another £200k before end of May. Creditors are mainly wage bill so not sure how likely anything like admin is.
