We are still useless. We won't score, so it's a 0-0 at best.

I'll go with a 1-0 defeat.

Pearson a huge loss for us and unsure who will step in for him.

Really think we can get something out of the game tonight. Going for our 3rd clean sheet in a row and either 0-0 or 0-1 with a last minute Tommy Spurr header to win it.

How's Nugent getting on for you? Absolute loved that guy at PNE

Putting this one down for a loss without Pearson and the fact Welsh isn't getting a look in, Derby have an experienced midfield and ours will have zero bite unless Browne really steps up to the plate as a defensive midfielder (which he isn't).

Think I read Huddlestone might be missing for them which will be good news.

I know we've kept 2 clean sheets but i'd consider going 5-3-2 to make up for the lack of protection in midfield, especially if Barkhuizen has a knock.

Maxwell
Fisher, Huntington, Spurr, Davies, Cunningham
Browne, Gallagher, Johnson
Hugill, Maguire

Cunningham as a Defensive Midfielder? What have you done to him!?!?

Not very confident, any hope of victory will be pinned on Vydra starting and performing IMO. I'm sure Bryson will come in for this one so hopefully he'll grab his chance with both hands, same with any wide players we might swap. Otherwise it'll be same old, pedestrian and toothless. Shame we couldn't have wrapped up the Lawrence deal yesterday, any addition to the forward line would give me a little more hope.

1-1.

Left wing back in a 532 :2thumb:

But skipper Greg could play upfront and do a job. One of the best signings we have ever made. Cheers Bristol :bravo:

Wouldn't be against lining up like that as you say extra protection without Pearson. And really think a pairing of Hugil and Maguire could be lethal up top.

Just can't see AN changing formation

That's the team I'd go with.

As good as Robinson has been for us, he's been so wasteful recently. Dropping him may give him the kick up the ass he needs. The Leeds game was the final straw for me. He just didn't look 'with it' at all at times.

Maguire deserves a start.

I'd like to know how many shots he's had in the last 2 games, must have had 7 or 8 at Accrington.

Seems like Neil has told him to shoot on sight but his long-range shooting is generally one of his main weaknesses.

If Robinson could finish he would be worth a hell of a lot of money. Very good player but so so frustrating at the same time.

This referee sounds a shocker and that's saying something in this league.

Fuck sake Nuge, get your head out of your PNE arse and put that away.

Decent block tbh.

Derby have come out firing here, great block by Fisher and then a good stop from a Weimann header.

Need to get hold of the ball again. Hugill has gone down from an 'elbow' which has helped to slow the momentum.

I'd get Horgan on for Barkhuizen or Robinson, bit of creativity and composure.

Penalty Derby, scored by Vydra, foul from a corner supposedly.

Deserved lead based on the chances in this second half, lots of last-ditch defending from PNE, barely had a sniff going forward.

Gallagher coming on for Robinson.

Aye, keeper wasn't far off saving that mind.

Hopefully we keep up the same intensity we started the half with.

Teams just waltz forward at ease when we're without Pearson.

Another midfielder is more important than signing a centre back for me.

Our commentators fuming that Andre Wisdom has escaped 2 blatant bookings.

That second half sounded shit, the midfield is so poor without Pearson and we created fuck all, Hugill dominated by Curtis Davies it seems.

Cunningham went off injured too.

Bad night.

Deserved win that.

Preston were hard working and organised but didn't really show a lot in the final third.

Only a couple of good saves and some last ditch tackles stopped in being three or four nil.

Penalty was a bit odd, but Preston were warned about holding, pushing and shoving by the ref, proceeded to carry on and so he probably had no choice.

Nice to get the first win under the belt however you look at it.

What a weird game of football. First half we dominated large spells without looking a threat apart from a couple of times when the final ball let us down, yet Derby had 3 or 4 good chances.

2nd half we just never got going and it could have been 3 or 4. That was some block from Fisher although I swear Nuge just doesn't want to score against us!

Maxwell is infuriating. Makes an incredible save first half from Nugent but his kicking was awful again and he nearly cost us with a woeful first touch, lucky to get a free kick.

Barkhuizen has looked off the pace in all 3 games so far and Robinson was poor tonight and at Leeds, no idea why Maguire isn't starting, we look so much better with him on the pitch.

I think Maxwell might be struggling with an injury still, some of his kicking was shocking and then towards the end he looked to be limping a little.

Hope Cunningham's injury isn't as bad as it looked either, he was quality again last night.

Didn't expect anything here in fairness, could do with beating Reading at Deepdale because I don't see us getting anything at Boro.

7pts would be a very good return from these opening 5 games, hardest run we'll have all season.

Overall performance ok, but a few decent individual performances in there. Weimann impressed, good to see Nugent working well with Vydra.
Afraid to say I think Johnny Russell's going to struggle to get back in the side if Lawrence starts well, didn't do enough last night and what he did do didn't come off. Must be feeling the crowd on his back now, so maybe a good time to take him out the firing line.
Fair result in the end, but must be more to come from Derby.
