Nathan Thomas will rip it up in the conference, hard luck pools.

With Tranmere and Lincoln coming up theres not really any good teams left down there. Just stop FGR coming up!
Wrexham, York, Stockport, Darlo?

There were times this season where I wasn't even convinced we'd make the playoffs.

Losing to Crewe and seeing fans fight in the stand and the players get booed off just over 2 months ago and to finish the season like we have is just unreal.

I'd say Newport's comeback is just as impressive, and Carlisle finishing in the playoffs after that bad run is impressive.

We were dreadful and Wycombe deserved to beat us. We showed very little intent or belief and never looked like scoring except for when the game was already gone. Very frustrating and sums up why Derry has to go.

But I have to say, Ainsworth's Wycombe really are an odious team. The football is all long ball to Akinfenwa who spends his whole time pushing and shoving which he refs don't pick up. Ainsworth spends his whole time moaning to the fourth official about everything you can think of.

My favourite bit though was when Wycombe started time wasting at 1-0 up when there was a possibility it might have gone down to goal difference. Running the ball into the corner to protect their 9th place finish was pretty fucking special.

Anyway, congrats to Pompey and Newport, commiserations to Hartlepool as that must have been heartbreaking to lose out so late. Well done to those who reached the play offs at our expense, particularly Carlisle on today's win as I didn't see that coming.

:whistle:Well done Portsmouth for getting as many points as us :2thumb: No one remembers who even won this league any more than a year ago anyway

No in all seriousness congratulations. The best team over 46 games always ends up on the top, even if it's on goal difference, a great way to do it as well with a thumping.

Feel sorry for Hartlepool. Great club with great fans hope you're back soon.

Delighted with our season, League 1 looks a tough one next year. Won't miss league 2.

I'm drunk and emotional. Can't believe we've somehow managed to be crowned Champions! What a feeling! I'll never forget this day.

Will he stay there? You'd think he'll be looking to move on now.

Other than that, I think Hartlepool are fairly well equipped. If they can keep hold of Amond they have a proven goal scorer at that level. Deverdics is proven down there and Lewis Alessandra is a decent player for this level and it pains me to say it but fat boy Bill might be good at conference level. They just need a competent manager to put it all together and add to it. I think giving it to inexperienced Bates permanently would be a huge risk.

Thomas is going 100%, we were told the c*** in charge wanted to sell him in January but that lad himself wanted to stay and try and keep us up, despite being off the boil since coming back from a serious injury (he probably wasn't properly fit) he had won us games on his own, could see him signing for a League 1 club in the summer.

As for the rest who knows, would be great to keep the likes of Carson, Amond and Alessandra but I really don't see them staying, we have people in charge who are chasing around after money they are owed, any saleable asset will be off out the door.

First things first, we need a manager, then we have to cut out our cancerous ex chairman who wants a golden handshake to the tune of £600,000 for his share of the club, the only positive to come out of yesterday is his valuation of shares will of plummeted dramatically now we are non league.

Paul Cook's had an impressive rise as manager in the last few years, taking Chesterfield to the League 2 title and getting them to the play-offs in their first season in League 1 (took at them now just two years later), and guiding an underachieving Pompey (for whom even automatic promotion looked unlikely as recently as February) to the title.

Wonder where he's come good from all of a sudden? All I remember of his previous managerial history is an ill-fated stint at Southport, whose fans had nothing positive to say about him at the time.

On both occasions he's probably had the biggest budget of the league, so it's not a massive surprise.

Even though he's an ex spirite manager he seems a good manager and composed himself very well at Mansfield the other week, was very complimentary and agreed that their lad should have been sent off.

You've still got to get promotion with the monies provided though

Biggest thing about him that's impressed me this season is that he's finally shown an ability to learn lessons and be more flexible in his tactics - his stubbornness was often our downfall last season and early in this one, until around February. Hopefully a good sign for the future..

One thing I like about Cook is his positive attitude towards things and that probably explains why we rarely lose more than one on the bounce. I think we suffered consecutive defeats once all season and we've always been able to recover well from any setback. Just look at how we performed since Crewe!

My mates brother in law is loving you lot right now (and Grimsby Hartlepool and Villa after Saturday) as he stands to win nearly £1500 as he had an accumulator at the start of the season on all the league winners Chelsea, Newcastle, Sheffield Utd and Pompey.
Unreal that it's as good as done now given how far behind you lot were back in Feb and given Newcastle were 7 behind with 3 to play, the jammy fucker!

Congratulations and well done Portsmouth, Plymouth Argyle and Doncaster Rovers.

Can't believe Doncaster Rovers blew the title.

Had it in the bag for ages.
