FA Cup Third Qualfying Round weekend then with 15k up for grabs for the winners.
Alfreton have a competitive local derby for the first time in years against Mickleover Sports who have several former Reds including Nathan Jarman and Evan Garnett. Their manager Jon McGrath also played for us too and was one of the best midfielders I have seen at Alfreton.
Micklover are struggling lying 19th in the NPL Premier. We must be on our metal from get go and not give ourselves a mountain to climb like we did in the previous round against Sutton Coldfield if we do that I am confident of progress despite our lack of league form.

Oh for a local game. United have the pleasure of visiting deepest darkest Essex in what must be the longest 'regionalised' trip in the draw ... a mere 600+ mile round trip for those making the trek up from Torquay for this one.

Not looking forward to tomorrow. Rain all day and Stourbridge away will probably only result in another embarrassing loss. Also even though the game isn't all ticket we have only been given 600 spaces and it's basically first come first serve.

We're away at Dunston UTS who are the lowest ranked side still in it, a suburb of Gateshead.

They're doing well in their typically strong league so expecting a tough game. We've got a few out still, one who is cup tied and another who can't play in it due to his loan arrangements.

They'll probably actually get more than Gateshead themselves a mile up the road tomorrow funnily enough.

Luke Jordan is cup tied and I don't think Mooney is allowed to play either. Not 100% certain on the latter mind you.

It might be why Hellawell has been recalled from his loan, especially as we can name seven subs.

I did wonder about Mooney as he didn't play in the last round. Getting a bit stretched for options up front with all the injuries.

Scrappy 2-1 win at Hungerford but we deserved to progress through. Funmanyo Shomotun is different gravy - cheers for extending his loan by another month Barnet.

Mickleover Sports 1-2 Alfreton Town (Attendance 505)

We book our place in the 4th Qualifying Round draw after getting the job done at Mickleover.
Not a great performance on a very poor bobbly pitch aided by a few questionable referee decisions.

We were awarded our first penalty on 24 minutes after a clear trip on Peniket. Johnson stepped up but was denied by a superb double save by home keeper Lewis King.

The ref bemused everyone in the ground by awarding us a second penalty on 31 minutes. This time Jordan Sinnott took responsbility and made no mistake. The ref lost control shortly after a bit of handbags in a feisty affair before spraying yellow cards at random players.

The second half began in very much the same vein Alfreton on top and keeping Mickleover at bay just about.

Inetiabely the moment a Mickleover player went down in the area the ref pointed to the spot and Maselia set up a nervous final 10 minutes or so but we saw the game out.

In the hat for the next round. Praying for a tie against Chesterfield...

Entertaining and ultimately comfortable win over a BPA side containing a few Alty old boys, including the best ever winger in non-league football, Nicky Clee.

Look forward to our trip to Moss Lane next week. Still my favourite away ground plus we have a very good record at your place to boot.

Routine win in the early game at Peterborough Sports, never really under pressure, superb strike from the excellent Blakeman for the opening goal, could have been out of sight by half time but an early strike in the second half direct from a Blakeman corner put the game beyond Peterborough, good finish by Marcus Carver to end the scoring. Looking forward to Mondays draw.

Shite scrappy 2-1 win from us. As uninspiring as anything else I've seen this season, only difference is we won for once.

What happened today Chester fans?! With no game now until you host us on the October 27th I bet you will be eager to put things right and make up for today if front of your own fans.

Winning 0-2 with 7 minutes left and cutting them open yet we then defend like schoolboys when they pile long punts into our box. A comfortable victory becoes a sloppy draw. Idiots!

We don't like the NE. Didn't want to risk getting drawn up there again. :ffs::)

Is the next qualifying round seeded so that the 5 northern brotherhood members are kept apart?

FYI us, Man Utd, Stockport, Wrexham, York.

Knowing our tendency for shite draws we'll get Salford away.

Wouldn't mind Dunston or even the Heed away, piss up round Newcastle win lose or draw.

Score three goals away from home and you should win.

Dunston went hell for leather for five minutes straight after kick off and again straight after half time and we didn't handle it. For the most part we outplayed them and other than those brief spells Dunston didn't do anything. They were actually quite poor.

They were very fit though and didn't tire, fitter than most you'll come across.

Should add that Gateshead suburb did indeed get more in to watch them than Gateshead themselves.

Bit pathetic really.

What is it with Stourbridge and the FA Cup. I hope we dont get them in the next round

Stourbridge weren't great we quite literally handed them 3 goals. First goal Ryan Johnson lazily passed them the ball they cross it and tap home, second goal the normally reliable Brandon Hall spills a shot and they knock in the rebound and the third goal Johnson handles the ball with no one around him to give away a pen.

3 easily avoidable goals cost us. If we go up I won't care but right now it was frustrating to see us fold like that.
