Cambridge away last season- 1900 fans and 1 portacabin- it was absolutely bl**dy freezing and missed 15 minutes of second half just to get a warm drink inside me.

The joys of away days!

Ours at Blundell Park must bring you deep joy - some the most characterful features in the League; - the compact bijou structure, with many original features, opening out to views of quaint Victorian and Edwardian architecture, miles of sandy beaches, and a huge choice of small cuisineries serving locally-sourced home -cooked traditional recipes. The area is also habitat for a variety of native sub-species that roam at will through the little passageways - they are friendly enough - just watch out for their droppings...

Travelling to Grimsby is on a completely different level....!

Global warming has helped Grimsby and Cleethorpes. Being on the Lincolnshire Rivera and the mouth of the beautiful river Humber, we get dolphins playing in the clean, crystal clear waters and birds of paradise flying above in the huge cloudless sky. Come and witness it yourselves, all welcome.

To be honest Grimsby and Cleethorpes is great for comfy facilities, by that I mean you can take a nice comfy sit down on one of the many sofas and chairs dumped in peoples front gardens.

Ours in the SW are a bit misleading if you're an away fan because there are other toilets, food stalls etc behind it when the home fans are in there.

It's just when it's only away fans that there aren't, presumably because they run close to the home fans and that's the only way to them. We rent the catering space out at 'x' per head, so we make our money regardless of whether people buy anything or not. It's the same throughout the Stadium.

Can't vouch for the Uni Stand bit, but if you're in there, you've only brought about 300 so a burger van should suffice.

I've never really had too many complaints with facilities elsewhere. I mean, who doesn't want to stand in the open air, piss against the brick wall, I mean toilets, at Saltergate, whilst still watching the game? Or piss into some old guttering, which had turned into a makeshift urinal at Gay Meadow?

Both Chesterfield and Shrewsbury have moved on now, but I can also remember watching the game at Mansfield while taking a 'slash' many moons ago. The toilets at 'The Vetch' (Swansea) were bloody disgusting too.

Away at Southport a few years ago their toilets were a little shitty portacabin that were so cramped you were nearly holding the bloke next to yours hand when having a piss, so everyone just ended up pissing against the fence at the back.

Worst I’ve seen myself though was at York, fucking disgusting.

We now have a terrace and holes in the ground where the toilets used to be along with no windows in the toilets however if you want to sit on the throne there are a couple on the car park.

Enjoy Cheltenham fans!

Yeah wasn’t great. Took my new girlfriend for our first weekend away. Couple of nights in a hotel near Bolton and a Blackpool v Grimsby game. Now been married for 16 years.

Think that makes her easily pleased.

Bloody good job

We didn’t get to the ground until a couple of minutes before half time, got stuck in traffic just outside Blackpool and then couldn’t get parked. Finally got parked and were just walking along that minging alleyway that led to the away end as Blackpool equalised which was nice.

Took us over 4 hours to get there cos of the bad weather (87ish?)
Got feckin soaked as Keith Walwyn took us apart and when we got out we`d earned ourselves a parking ticket, but I quite liked the old place meself

I don't think we helped with the facilities at Blackpool, back in the 70s we were going for promotion with Swansea and Watford, the kop had a roof then , and if you had a good support the atmosphere was brilliant. Anyway we got hammered 5-2, dashing all hope of promotion, so the boys went to work , rearranging, shall I say the facilities, so the police decided to lock us in. Stupid idea, we had about 1500 fans there that day, that were all boys, the huge metal gates at the back didn't stand a chance, they were smashed open and torn of off there hinges. I think after that Blackpool took the roof of the next season and let the kop decay until it was unfit to put fans on it, because the next time I went we were put in the side stand .

We struggle at Crewe as that stand down the side is awful when full (behind the goal is ok). You have one exit for 2000 plus fans who have to filter down a narrow passage to get to it, one set of small toilets and the stewards fail to adhere to making fans sit in their own seat... i ended up stood on the stairs most of the game recently along with about 30 others on the same small stairwell. There was uproar after our game in April and it was meant to have been addressed for the game in September but wasn't. That said I guess its ok for a standard league one/two away following of 500 or so.

I could `t agree more about Crewe. It is an accident waiting to happen. We were there a couple of week ago, selling the stand out and it was awful. The concourse, such as it is, is nowhere big enough to cope with the number of people wishing to use the facilities at half time. My friend`s wife and their 9 year old daughter were stuck on the stairs coming out of the stand for a good 2 /3 minutes unable to go either down to the concourse due to the steer number of people using it or up due to the fans behind them. It would only take one person to loose their footing on those stairs for there to be a major accident. The whole stand is badly designed with one one way in and out causing crowd congestion not only at half time but also after the game. Just how they get a safety certificate for it is beyond me.

Looks nice, although not used to having comfy seats and some leg room, however we hadn't filled it and there were insufficient toilets or servers at the eating/drinking kiosks for the numbers and the 15 minutes at HT.

I'm going back some time now but the worst away ends I've ever experienced were Barnsley's Oakwell before it was developed, The away end was a big slagheap where the bogs were just a wall that you could look over and watch the game going on whilst you had a piss and Wigan's old Springfield Park ground where the away end was literally just a long grass bank. You can imagine what it was like if it had been pissing down.

That's the issue you have with a stand that has been converted from a terrace.

I went there in 1991 on the old away terrace and the weeds growing through the concrete were around 3 feet high!
Talking of old school urinals Rochdale had a similar set up to Chesterfield and York where you could piss up a brick wall while watching the game and at Rochdale the people in houses across the road could see you having a piss which was very odd indeed!

There's a video of on YouTube of one lot of away fans sliding down the grass bank at Wigan in the 80s or early 90s.
My first visit there was mid 90s and I'm sure they'd tarmaced it by then.
Halifax had a grass bank too sure Scarborough had grassy areas too in the away end.
Lovely area near the away end to park your car on my first visit, proper rough estate! The local kids attacked our cars as we left, lovely! Don't think any of them of them were more than 10, little darlings!

Looks fantastic. Rather go there than the new place!
I still have a hankering for some of the old grounds we visited in non league. Liked standing along the side at Woking. St Albans open terrace wasn't much fun in the rain though. Until we got an undeserved 94th minute winner...
