Should be a decent game. Still unsure if to go or not. Wasn't the greatest experience last time there and I vowed to not go back but the form were in its hard not to go. It's going to be a battle for possession, probably the two teams that have most possession in there ganes. Hoping Powell back fit even if it's off the bench I think we've missed his impact. Got a feeling it will be a score draw and I'd take that to be honest. Wouldn't be shocked if we nick it though, our away form is excellent and suits us abit more to play away, with teams not sitting quite so deep at home.

Anyway, the actual game.

Another very difficult game. We struggle against the good defensive sides like most of the rest of the division. We've played 3 of the top 4 tightest defences so far(Newport, Colchester and Cheltenham) and scored 1 goal.

I'd take a point to be honest, would get us out of a horrible run of fixtures with no defeats and at the very worst, 2nd. A win would be a massive boost ahead of the Vale though.

It really has been a tough set of fixtures in October.

I really enjoyed the game when Forest Green Rovers visited Crewe in April, very decent footballing side so should make a good game. Sadly, I can only see FGR taking the 3 points here but happy to be proven wrong.

Very wet here today in Gloucestershire and the forecast is as bad.
It would be unusual for a match at TNL to be postponed but the Crewe away fans should be prepared to be chilled and soaked under the open stand.
Be glad when FGR move to Eco Park and everybody can watch a game under a stand roof.

Abit worried by this Aitchison kid. I signed him on football manager a few years ago and he was incredible. Seems to be on good form at the vegans at the minute.

Surprised we sold nearly 300 tickets for this given the weather and pack of facilities. So will probably be close to 400 there again, so not likely to fit under the bus shelter. I really don't understand why Frg don't give a stand behind the goal to away fans, one of them is usually pretty much empty.

Politics and the local council.
The North Stand [nearest to road] was always for away fans. But with promotion to the EFL, somebody [?] thought it a good idea to open up West Stand for away fans.
In good weather the West Stand offers best view of game and many FGR faithful used to watch every match from that vantage irrespective of good or bad weather. They were none too pleased on being told to move.
It is a constant embarrassment to those of us who travel to every away game to compare and contrast the better facilities at other stadiums to what is offered at TNL.
I apologise in advance to all the Crewe supporters should they get soaked although I know words mean little.

Thanks for your honesty FGR Stroud. It’s not just FGR who treat away fans in a frankly appalling manner unfortunately but could you expand on the role of politics and the local council? Are you saying the council forced the club to put the away fans in a totally inadequate and uncovered part of the ground? Accrington, Gillingham and Macc are the other uncovered stands that immediately spring to mind but at least in these 3 examples most of the rest of the ground is occupied. 2 seasons ago Crewe fans were treated very poorly by FGR imo. Absolutely drenched in near freezing conditions while stewards refused to let us move to the practically empty stand next door until the police had to intervene and instructed the stewards to let us move after about 60 mins. It seems all that has changed is a small tin roof has been put over 100 seats. This from a club that has one of the bigger playing budgets in the league so there is obviously some cash available to spend. As you can probably tell I’m not looking forward to my soggy away day tomorrow. on another topic can you tell me how close to kick off does the park and ride run? I’m at work until midday so might not make it until 2:45ish.

I think the issue is that with plans to move to a new ground the club are reluctant to spend money on anything other than what is absolutely necessary. Even so, I don't think it would cost ridiculous amounts of money to put a roof along the whole of the West Terrace...the club could sell, or donate, it to another club when we finally get round to moving. The roof above the South Stand was brought here from our previous ground just down the hill, so we do have a track record in recycling!

All I can say is what is on the FGR website. I get to ground by public transport [63 bus].

Park and ride
For most matches we run a park and ride service from local engineering company Renishaw, on Stroud Road, GL5 5HA. There are over 200 parking spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis, costing just £3 per car.

The service starts three hours before kick-off, and coaches run regularly to and from the ground up until the start of the match.

Once the match is over, coaches can take you back to Renishaw from the bus stop outside The New Lawn on the main road.

Thanks for the info. Fingers crossed I make it and it stops raining. Should be a decent game of football with both teams in decent form and trying to play the game in the right way.

Game may be off...conflicting information from someone who claims to have a contact at the club, first posted that it was definitely off...then minutes later that it is definitely on!

Apparently the Crewe Twitter feed says it is off...but there is silence on the matter from Rovers.

It has been chucking it down with rain since yesterday lunchtime, you are more likely to be able to hold a swimming gala on our pitch this afternoon than a proper game of football!!!

Edit: Game now confirmed as off on our forum by one of the club directors.

We'll be free on FA Cup 2nd round day if you fancy trying again then? Bullet dodged, we're usually shite on wet pitches and in the rain. Rest up, get Powell back fit and get ready for the Vale. Finished October unbeaten, I'll take it.

I never count chickens before they have hatched...and all that...but I'm reasonably optimistic that we will make it as far as the Second Round of the Cup (crazy fool I hear you all say)...so we will probably be welcoming you on a freezing cold night in February...wrap up warm!

I'd be abit annoyed if I was one of the Crewe Fans in Stroud or well into my journey down there. After FGR seemed confident it was going to be on. If it had been raining since yesterday lunchtime god knows why they didn't organise an early pitch inspection given the distance we were travelling.

Football and the fans aren't always the first priority...as various people have posted on our forum.

We don't appear to have many people involved in the organisation of the club who really know that much about football, I wish this was a surprise...sadly is isn't.

Shit happens, been to quite a few games that have been called off late down the years. Poor that our twitter said no inspection and then game off an hour later, but tbh like Greenacres says we ain't great in that department.

bn

Yep - more interested in donating shedloads to pro-EU political parties to obtain massive energy subsidies for his company and then using it to fund court cases to reverse Brexit

Should be a cracking game this, two footballing sides who come into this confident after rattling in a few on Sat. Winner goes top.
Be an interesting tactical battle between Cooper and Artell as well, two of the best coaches in the lower leagues.
