Netherlands at 24th, Wales above Spain, Uzbekistan in the top 50, Japan and Cameroon not in the top 50! Fifa rankings are a joke.

Netherlands at 24th is spot on for the time being. Wales above Spain is laughable I agree. Uzbekistan has been getting results so I think they should barely be in the top 50. As for Cameroon, they're shit and are rightfully below the top 50.

The big one for me is Peru being above Paraguay!

Or instead of just the best teams you could invite shite like England along, just for giggles.

Given that Spain got knocked out in the 2nd round of the Euro's and Wales got to the semi finals that is fair enough. What I can't understand is how Belgium are 2nd in the world despite being knocked out in the quarter finals of both the World Cup and Euro's, yet Germany are 3rd despite being the reigning World Champions and getting to the Semi Final of the Euro's.

OK, Oranje isn't actually one of the top teams in the World. They couldn't even qualify for the Euro although it is nowadays with 24 teams easier to qualify than not. But you're right, the Rankings are sometimes a joke and for me it's uninteresting where Germany is actually placed. The only thing that counts for me is, that Germany is World Cup at least until 2018.

Nice to be back in our rightful place as Britain's number one team.

I always thought you were a Yank. Maybe because of your "Supports:Seattle Sounders" . And now I learn you're a Scotsman ;)

The way the rankings are worked out certainly needs a look at. Switzerland, now 7th, were as high as 4th because they had worked out how to play the system and didn't play any friendlies for a year so. Nothing wrong with that of course, it's common sense from their FA as they'll be seeded higher for the WC. Whereas England are incredibly naive and lose a load of points for losing/drawing friendlies against the likes of Holland, France, Brazil, Germany, Spain etc.

The alternative ELO rankings, which has England in 9th rather than 15th, appear more accurate.

The realistic top 10 is imho

1 Germany
2 Brazil
3 Spain
4 France
5 Portugal
6 Italy
7 Colombia
8 Uruguay
9 Chile
10 England

Argentina are probably better than Chile and England.

I've seen a bit of Peru over the years. They aren't bad but they are by no means the 12th best side in the world

No, they're the best. Lib said so. Did you know that they haven't lost in 2017?

I'd say we're about 15th. Performances, statistics and form all support that.

We are better than England though. Italy? Not so much.

Keep in mind that this is based on numbers and not opinion. The problem is many people don't agree with it because they view it as something FIFA has put together on their own.

For example, Peru being ahead of Italy definitely isn't accurate. However, it was earned because Peru took down a lot of opponents including some very good teams (Uruguay, beat Brazil last year in the Copa). So there are 2 questions and 2 answers. Is Peru being ahead of Italy accurate from an opinionated point of view? No. Is it accurate in terms of statistics? Yes. And yes by a long shot too.

Peru being ahead of England though is accurate in every way. I've seen both teams and in a vs match I'd be confident we'd take down England.

I have to disagree there respectfully. We aren't very good against the best teams but we can usually beat the likes of Poland, Switzerland and Wales quite comfortably. The defeat against Iceland was an aberration really

The problem is, we are better than all the teams you mentioned.

Sure you could beat those teams, what about Brazil, Uruguay and Chile?

Peru is in 4th because we are one of the best teams in South America right now.

England are the masters at grinding out results but when it comes to playing South Americans, they (usually) fail.

I don't think we are 12th in the world. I'd say 15th but we are better than England in my opinion.

Hmm we have played 1 competitive game against a South American team in the last 11 years. I remember us beating you 3-0 albeit in a friendly and we are probably better now. Never lost against Paraguay, Ecuador or Colombia. Beat Argentina and drew with Brazil in our last meetings. Just Chile we seem to really struggle with. Never played Bolivia or Venezuela which is a real shame.

Hope you realize the 3-0 loss against you was with our U23's. In my opinion though, you haven't gotten better since then. You've stagnated completely.

Look you are having a purple patch at the moment. Got to wait and see if you achieve anything yet. I hope Peru do qualify for the World Cup but to put yourselves above England is a little premature to say the least. I think it has been a poor quality World Cup qualification campaign in South America this year. I mean Colombia have been absolutely rubbish save for two games against Ecuador and they are third!

England are around tenth in the world. Not good enough to threaten the cream of the crop but efficient enough to beat the rest of the world

You are right - it has been rubbish. We just happen to be one of the exceptions, hence our 20 points in the last 10 games.

Our "purple patch" hasn't been lucky by any means
