So top of the league (yes even though its only one game), most goals scored today and no mention/discussion by the pundits about our game...

Why do the Football League highlights shows constantly add new pointless shite every year? We had Lindsey double barrelled name doing that 'read fans comments' bit on the BBC version, we had those ridiculous fans in the audience when it moved to Channel 5, we have/had inane punditry on that TV from Micky and Adam Virgo which tells you nothing and is a total waste of time. Now they've got Colin Murray doing interviews with celebrity fans and having fans send in videos telling us how their team did.

Who gives a shit? I couldn't give a toss about what random bloke A from Sheffield or random bloke B from Derby made of their teams performance and I'm having 95% of people who watch the show don't either. They keep going back to this fan interaction shit and I don't know why. Leave fan interaction for social media and just get on with showing the highlights FFS! Murrays high pitched chirpy Irish accent is going to get on my nerves very quickly I think.

I'm surprised they changed the presenters. Lynsey Hygrave was very good and George Riley was competent if not fantastic. Colin Murray is just bloody annoying.

Don't think the FL were too happy about that change either!

See, I never understood that. What was their particular issue? The fact that Hipgrave and Riley were considered good and they wanted them to stay? Or the fact they weren't fans of Murray getting the gig?

Can i ask some of you champ fans in the know...............why does there seem to be a mixed bag of Fulham/Norwich fans behind the goal on the left side of that stand??

Fulham have a neutral end where both sets of fans can sit. Not sure why they have it though, would make sense just to extend the away allocation.

The perfect show would be one that just shows the highlights from the games and nothing more, none of this 'expert' punditry bollocks from the likes of Chris Iwelumo and Adam Virgo, or listening to that Irish tosser waffle on about nonsense. The only positive to this programme is that it's on at a reasonable time, unlike the BBC's version which was coming up for midnight.

Actually, as much as I hate Murray, he's still a huge upgrade on George Riley the fucking greasy twat.

I'm probably in the minority in that I don't mind Colin Murray. On the radio he's a very good interviewer and as a presenter gets the best out of his guests. However on a highlights programme he's annoying coz you just want to see the football and as little of the other crap as possible.

I did find it amusing that Murray would say something along the lines of 'we know you want to see the football and not watch us waffling on' every time we'd just been subjected to watching him and Gray waffling on. It's almost like they're trying to annoy people.

I personally think too many people get irritated easily by football presenters if you ask me. It's pointless and some people on Twitter have a worrying obsession with criticising every pundit, presenter and commentator known to man. It's like having a grievance with a particular advertising board (like those PNE fans who cried about the tangerine 888 advertising boards last year the absolute wrong'uns). It's one petulant thing about modern football we can do without. At the end of the day, we're probably the only country in the world where highlights of third and fourth tier football games make it onto national television, so I'm grateful for that.

That said, Elton Welsby got a very rough ride from a lot of North West clubs' fans in the 80s and 90s!

I like Colin Murray, but like everyone else I agree the show would be improved with fewer gimmicks and more highlights. They only have time for the most cursory analysis for most of the games so they might as well cut this completely and only do analysis for the featured game(s).

34 minutes into the championship show and they had only shown 3 games. I don't understand why they don't just do 5mins highlights for each game.

Isn't it obvious?

How would they have time to show random videos that virgin football fans have sent in or pointless interviews in dugouts with celebrities who clearly know little about football? (The pointless pun was actually unintended).

Thought The Championship show in particular was bad, the best thing about the highlights moving to 5 in the first place was no more Clem, it seems 5 have given Murray a similar type of role.

Does anyone remember when it used to be on after midnight I think it was on ITV and on a Sunday or Monday. This was back where nobody really cared about the FL. It had a main game from each league and then just the goals from the rest. If only we could go back to that but at a reasonable time. Fans are simple, they want to see goals not halfwits pretending to have a personality or fans that are irritating as fuck.

Football League Extra with Gabriel Clarke and we had Soccernight with Elton Welsby up in the North West. My favourite era of football before Sky Sports hyped up the Championship to exorbitant levels...

Found an episode from the opening day 20 years ago this year if anyone wants to have a look.

I plan to literally just watch all the highlights from the Football League games on sky sports score centre. The adverts are annyoing, but worth it for not having to watch the football league show on Channel 5.

Just give it 15 minutes and then fast forward all the crap/supposed expert opinions. That's all I do with any highlights show.

I think it probably hurts their ticket sales for some games, like ours, as well. We sold out our allocation pretty quickly and there were plenty of people who were moaning about it and didn't fancy sitting in a neutral section. I might have considered it late on if there were away rather than neutral tickets left. I did think the neutral section would be about 75% Fulham but judging by the tv it was half full and about 50/50 which makes the decision to keep it seem even stranger.

Thing is with the neutral section though, it's not stewarded in the concourse below. It's so easy to just slip up past a steward on the stairs into the actual away end

It's got even worse. Colin Murray is a dickhead, Chris Iwelumo is shite, that new woman presenter is annoying and nobody gives a fuck what a fan with a camera thinks.

It was the days of video recorders, I used to ask my dad to record it every Sunday night and I'd watch it when I got in every Monday. Fond memories as I first discovered it in 2003 as I was thankfully coming to the end of my final year at secondary school.
