Not confirmed yet but it's looking that way.

ESPN reporting theres a deal in principle agreed, Sky Sports commentary mentioned the fact his Wembley ticket and appearance today was requested by the club and plenty of ITK hipsters surfacing with different bits and bobs.

Rumours are that he'll sign a 3 year deal and he's bringing two bods in with him straight away to help. Jody Morris being one and the other seems to be a toss up between Redknapp, Terry and Joe Jordon.

No guarantees it'll be anywhere near a success but it'll be interesting for sure.

Lampard with Jordan may be a great success.
Lampard with any of the others disaster.
He would be very wise to use the services of a more experienced chap like Jordan. I don't know why we haven't thought of it seeing though Jordan lives here.

I'd be very happy if I was a Derby fan. Would much rather go down this route than go down the same old Pardew/Pulis/Big Sam route. Time will tell but I think Rowett leaving could be a blessing in disguise.

Now following Derby County on Twitter apparently, must be true. :shifty:

Quite an impressive coup if so looking at his work at Chelsea. Then again we've had promising coaches appointed previously and they haven't come off so let's see if he actually achieves anything first.

Not everyone wants to watch shit football. Pardew has been a colossal failure at every club he's been for years. Pulisball is predictable, and he fucked promotion up this year. Sam would need a much bigger budget than Derby can offer.

As you were, sheep fucker.

Big Sam would get that Derby squad promoted. Irrelevant though, he’ll take a long holiday with his Everton compensation and come back having every Premier League club from 15th downward throwing money at him by November.

It’s a good starting point for someone like Lampard he’s managed to get on the ladder quite high, if he succeeds he’ll have a premier league job in no time because of who he is, if he fails then he’ll have to do what most do anyway and start again further down. I think been a novice as a manager he could use someone like Joe Jordan on board with him he’s been there and done it as an assistant at some big clubs and his experience could be invaluable to lampard. Another appointment though that maybe signalling the end of the managerial merry go round we’ve had for years.

Lampard could be a good manager - far more intelligent than most ex pros.

Much better choice than Gerrard.

That Lampard is more intelligent than Gerrard?

Well, he's far more educated for a start.

I think that will help you be a good manager, it demonstrates critical analysis and thinking that will assist in the role.

ah the old he played top level football so will be a great coach like Giggs, Gerrard and Shearer (remember him?) another over-rated ego that's walking into a decent level

must be a kick in the teeth for other managers

Have any of those been given a proper go at management? Shearer has had the longest spell of the 3 and that was 8 games incharge of a Newcastle team in freefall... hard to judge him over that.

"must be a kick in the teeth for other managers" - What other managers do you mean?

He would need some proper experience around him. My theory with these players becoming managers and getting in quite high is how much do they know about the division? He hasn't been in and around the Championship at all so I wonder how much he would know about the Derby team or those who he is playing against.

I see that side of the argument but on the other hand we've had 'experienced' managers previously who have had terrible spells here.
Just depends on the fit as always. Nigel Pearson should have been a good appointment; he ticked all the boxes of the questions currently surrounding Lampard's credentials for the job. Turned out to be horrific and was sacked accordingly.

In all honestly whilst I'm not convinced Lampard is 100% the man we need there's no reason why he can't succeed, managers have to start somewhere. In a division where Lee Johnson is doing alright, Neil Harris is a success, Clough and Rowett doing ok etc etc there's not loads to be worried about just yet.

Well, as I did previously, I would ask you for positive evidence but you are unable or unwilling to produce any. Anyway, the thread is about Frank Lampard (who I admire greatly as a player) and has absolutely fuck all to do with Steven Gerrard's intelligence which you know absolutely heehaw about but as you got ripped a new arsehole in the previous thread that you wasted so you have obviously decided to start afresh here....hence I won't indulge you again over something you struggle to understand. Carry on but keep it on topic eh ?.......

Not really, you think there is no way you can differentiate if Steven Hawking is more intelligent than Mike Tyson until you meet them.

And you'll never stop posting that this is a valid statement so why bother?

An indicator that Lampard is more intelligent than Gerrard is his far superior levels of educational attainment. You don't agree? Fine.

Steven Hawking, Mike Tyson....you really are a thread waster. Tell us, what have these to to do with a thread solely about Frank Lampard and Derby County? No, don't bother as it may turn into the biggest piece of garbage since your last one. Unbelievable shite but no surprise tbh.

Why bother ? If you haven't worked that out by now then you should question your own level of intelligence matey. Perhaps if you removed your head from where the sun don't shine you would see the real world...........perhaps not.....

Oh ....and still no evidence!

Try staying on the thread topic!

Super Frank it is.

Bet he's quicker than Tom Huddlestone, should register to play.

Great news for England/English football.

We need our ex players to get into management and stop with the easy route of punditry - we have enough of those already.

Well done to Derby & Rangers for taking gambles

As long as he's done all the relevant coaching badges and not been employed as a 'name' then this could be a sensible move, especially with this contacts at what is probably the best academy in England.
