May begin to follow this. Most competitive league at a high level in Europe. Other leagues have been 1 horse race's.

England - Chelsea
Germany - Bayern
Italy - Juve
Spain - Soon to be Madrid.
Holland - PSV

Undecided whether I want Lyon or Marseille to win it. I like Lacazette but I also like Bielsa :dk:

Saint-Etienne lead Lens 1-0 at half-time. Not a bad game despite the freezing cold weather. Lens started alright to be fair and had a couple of chances that either flashed wide or were pushed off the line. Saint-Etienne's goal came from a long range shot from N'Guemo. After that they had the most chances.

Yeah amazing second half. Saint-Etienne scored a second early in the second half through Mollo after a mistake by Kantari but Lens pull level with goals from Guillaume and penalty from Touzghar. Lens could have bagged the 3 points as Chavarria scored for 3-2 but Erding scored another good goal to make it 3-3. Really good show of strength and character from Lens. However, draws aren't going to get them safe. They are still second bottom and could be bottom if Metz win at Bastia today. Saint-Etienne are runing out of steam I reckon. Reckon they'll finish 5th behind Monaco at this rate.

Only just seen Lemina's red card. Can't believe it!

Looking forward to Lyon v PSG. Hoping it doesn't disappoint!

What a funny game! Finished 1-1. But Lopes has been amazing this evening. Great keeper.
Ibra scored a pen after second attempt due to the keeper being off his line. (Harsh but correct).

Lyon don't mind a draw, will keep fighting until the end.
Sooner AL is back the better.

Hope Lyon can hold on to top spot but it will be a tough ask. Gourcuff is such a great player when he's fit and in the mood

Well I'm gonna surprise everyone and be in the minority of not being impressed by the Lyon/PSG game. It was alright but this Lyon side are capable of playing football in a very entertaining way and they just flat out refused to do that which was really disappointing. Their goal is a work of art (one-two between N'Jie and Fekir in the penalty area) and I'm positive they could have scored more had they pushed on after being 1-0 up.
I didn't think we were particularly bad first or second half (I've seen much worse this season) but Lyon's tactic was to defend at all costs in the second half so of course we had chances. I didn't think that Lopes had a blinder either. Call me cynical but most of the saves he made was more due to us not doing the right thing in front of goal rather than him being unreal (except on the first Ibra header at the start of the second half, that was amazing). Which brings me to the general point of our performance: we have the clinical finishing touch of a lower-mid table side. This result makes our failure to score more than a goal per game at 50% (12 out of 24 games) which is low. The chances we missed on Sunday leads me to believe that we don't stand a chance in hell against Chelsea next week. Cavani missed two one-on-ones (again Lopes just stood there, Cavani just shot straight at him), David Luiz missed a free header on a corner (somehow, I can see him doing the same against Chelsea) while Ibra did nothing all game apart from 2 headers and a good lay-off for Cavani's first chance. He also missed a penalty.
The rest is fine but the fact that we needed an (imaginary) penalty that had to be retaken to score against Lyon is alarming. We really need to get rid of Ibra & Cavani asap. Lavezzi said he wanted to leave in January and I for one can see where he's coming from. Why is a striker playing on the wing when we have a perfectly good winger on the bench?
Anyway, really not impressed by "the game of the season".

Regarding the rest of the league, this draw is actually a good result as it maintains the statu quo at the top as Marseille drew at Rennes (1-1) while Saint-Etienne did the same at home to Lens in a good match (3-3). Monaco finally conceded a goal, their first in 9 games as they lost at Guingamp (0-1).
It was a more eventful day at the bottom with Bastia, Caen and Lorient all winning and leapfrogging Toulouse. Lens put themselves in a good light at Saint-Etienne but a draw will only get you so far. They are still 2nd bottom and haven't won in 5 games. Metz lost at Bastia 0-2 and look a safe bet for finishing bottom and Evian lost at home to Bordeaux.
Would really like Metz, Evian and Toulouse to go down. It could happen but I fear that Lens won't make it.

Well the Lyon v PSG game wasn't a spectacle but wasn't too bad.
I see Zlatan had another incident with the French journaliste! (Mind you, it was a stupid question).

Coupe de France action tonight. Red Star 1-2 ASSE
Wins for boulogne, Auxerre and Concarneau.

Goalless at the break. It's an alright match but very few chances. Lorient have seen more of the ball although Fekir had the best chance for Lyon with a shot stopped.

I was away this weekend so will watch our game against Caen tomorrow but I doubt any performance could change my prediction: we are getting destroyed on Tuesday.

Was at the Nantes v Bastia match at the weekend. Surprised at how poor the standard was, even though I had been warned. Nantes were simply awful. The experience, however was fantasic and the Nantes fans are the best I have seen and heard anywhere. The atmosphere they generated at such a poor game was incredible. They deserve a much better team.

That's impressive. Get yourself to German grounds. You'll experience much more noise than at La Beaujoire.
