Walks out on a club he claims to hold a 'special bond' with... for Stoke.

I always knew that Rowett was a snake :£

I don't get the Rowett hype either, achieved the bare minimum with that multi million pound Derby squad, with generally turgid football.

I think people cut him slack because he was harshly treated by Birmingham.

Is it possible that he's neither a fraud or a tactical genius?
Rowett's an overhyped mercenary who preaches stability and long-term planning but then shows a lack of integrity and honour when batting his eyelashes at other clubs. He's a fraud. Done the same when he was manager of Birmingham.

Rowett agreed terms. To be announced in the morning.

Got a bad feeling that Derby will be coming in for Alex Neil.

Nail on head really, just a decent manager with a few loyalty issues. Not a great surprise to anyone in football.

He’s disappointed a lot of Derby fans with this outcome but the other half are partying harder than the north did when Thatcher passed.

I couldn’t care either way, we just need to get the next appointment right.

Derby getting rid of Bent, Baird and Shackell has slashed their wage bill. Yeah they won't throw money around like before but they're still an attractive job for many managers. Honestly wouldn't surprise me to see big Sam go there or something

Not much these little clubs can do when the big SCFC boys come calling :cool1:

Like many Derby fans, more than happy to see the back of him.

I said at the time that I wouldn't have sacked him, he had earned that much at least with a sixth placed finish. I was worried that he would have inevitably sold Vydra, who he didn't seem to fancy despite the goals he scored & signed more players like Weimann.

He's a manager that doesn't appreciate technical players, perhaps due to the fact he's not had that luxury and has learned to manage without it? I don't know. He just needs a functional team to be competitive in this league.

I hope we bring in someone with a more proactive approach to management, someone who likes his players to play into feet and not over the heads of the opposition backline. He's also got an horrendous record when it comes to selling players, so any Prem teams looking to sign Butland can probably get him for less than £10m now.

Derby fans pretending this is a good thing :bg:

All I've heard and read from them is how good Rowett is and that he's this & that... moves for bigger & better things then all of a sudden it's "glad to see the back of him"

Yeah right :10:

Don’t think there’s many people that have been saying he’s this and that. Successful year.. yeah, decent manager.. yeah. Questionable playing style, transfer business and loyalty.

There’s genuinely a fair few Derby fans over the moon. Some disappointed, some who are a bit “meh”. There’s been a big split for months, hence why El G started this thread.

Is this a sign that Derby are ratcheting down somewhat the 'going for it' thing they've done for the last 3-4 years, Rowett think he'll get a better budget and more chance of promotion with Stoke? Might be barking up the wrong tree, just interested.

Very much so, having to cut their cloth accordingly.

Not as such, but we are up to our limit with regards to FFP, therefore 'cash flow' is the problem, not 'cash'. If we spent money, we'd be hit with a transfer embargo and a fine. I think it's a case of allocating our budget accordingly. This season is where we feel the impact of Clement's £26m spending spree, unfortunately.

No you'll feel the impact of sacking him and not allowing the opportunity of taking you up.

No different to last summer really, we had to sell Hughes and Ince to give Rowett some dosh to spend.

Vydra having the season of his career should help raise some money.

Carson going to Stoke will be nailed on when they sell Butland. Can't imagine that will go down well with Derby.

I’m very disappointed Rowett is going. I’d be gutted if Carson went with him.
