Finished 1-1. Completely deserved for Augsburg. Dortmund are so lacklustre this season. I doubt they'll make the Buli proud in the Champions' League any time soon. The dip in quality in the Buli is staggering.

I don't think it was because of the temperatures that only 54.000 appeared but a protest against the new Monday night games in Bundesliga 1. But the DFB won't give a shit about this, the tv broadcaster are dictating the schedule. You can't change back to my childhood were all 9 matches were played Saturday at 3:30 pm, the traditional kick off time in German Football. Now it goes from Friday to Monday (and tuesday to thursday are European dates) so that the tv channels have some football to show.

Would you like to go back to all games at 3:30pm on a Saturday? I don't think I'd enjoy it. Sure it's better for the fans but I do enjoy watching games all over the weekend instead of at just one kick-off time for all. It might worth saying that I despise das Konferenz. I like to focus on one game at a time.

Koln have worn 7 kits this season. Taking the piss out of the fans. Still, I hope they stay up. May I ask Dirk that third play off relegation spot isn’t fair to the team that finishes. In that respect the English league system is better. Been to Moenchengladbach tonight. Quality stadium. Bremen brought a few as well. Quality all round. Good beers.

The actual modus with 2 direct relegation places and one relegation playoff is now in place for several years and every team knows the rule that finishing at #16 of Buli 1 and #3 of Buli 2 will bring you a playoff match, so I can't see any "unfairness" here. (if they would change a relegation modus during a season that would be unfair).
It's ok when you think that the English system is "better" but the 3rd placed teams of the leagues under the Premier League don't have a guaranteed promotion either, it has to play in a playoff with the 6th placed team (and if it is won had to play against the winner of 3rd vs 4th) (only the third from last team of the PL knows that it is relegated for sure, unlike the Bundesliga 16th).

For me the actual modus is okay and I don't say that because HSV has profited from it 2 times already (and hopefully a 3rd time.
btw: Relegated Bundesliga Clubs don't get a Relegation "bonus" pay like the relegated Premier League clubs to cover the missing tv money etc.

Anyway. Today we will have another 6 point game at the Volkspark against actual #16 Mainz. I don't know how they want to do it but HSV must score (and win, of course). Something they're lacking for quite some time now. But today there are no more excuses.

I only ask because I don't see such a thing at HSV matches. Seems it is forbidden now for Hamburg to score (not even from the penalty spot like saturday) and we are now getting the "bill" for the last few years

yes....but it's a Bayern goal. tbh I only like them in the Champions League but not in the Bundesliga. And this reminds me that we'll play Bayern next weekend. Damn!

They have been the Sunderland of German football - always just avoided relegation but finally it seems sadly for Dirk going to drop down.

my company rented the Volksparkstadion for the 26th May for a football tournament. Our Hamburg division is much better then the HSV. They are current title holders and of that, the host

Enjoyed Bremen/Köln last night without commentary on the box. Doesn't happen to me often and it feels like you're at the ground as you're not counting on the commentator to help you make out which player has which number.
Bremen scored the sole goal of the first half thanks to a dirty tactic on a corner where the marker of a player is blocked by the teammate of the player that scored. Effective though as the ref didn't see anything.
Second half was good. Osako equalised but Bremen scored from the counter a few moments later. Eggestein sealed it late on. Important victory for Bremen, Köln are as good as in the Zwei (like Hamburg).

I must say I enjoy those Monday night games as it enables me to watch at least one Buli game per week. Not saying I'm in favour of fans having to bend to TV schedules but I've never watched so much German Football since I relocated from Munich back in Easter 2015.

Titz is a good one, especially with young players. He was the coach of our U21 (aka HSV II). They are currently in first place of the Regionalliga Nord (one of the leagues of our 4th tier) although they drawed 4 of their last 5 matches and have 2 games less than the 2nd Wolfsburg, that shows how strong they are until now.

I like the guy but it's a very unthankful task now for him. If he can't avoid the first ever relegation of HSV he's damaged too although it's not his fault. But I already like it how he handles it with players who can't be arsed like this Brazilian Walace. Total waste of money this guy and you could see how much he cares. Whereas the other players who were sorted out by Titz before the match (Diekmeier or Hahn for example) watched the match in the stadium this guy couldn't be arsed to be in the stadium and watch his colleagues fighting for survive and posted instead pictures on social media.

Anyway, the first half of the Hertha match was the best I've seen from my team for months. They played football, not only fighted football and deservedly went 1-0 ahead. Unfortunately we don't have a good striker (you can't expect this from 18year old Fiete Arp yet, big talent but he needs more time) and in the 2nd half when Hertha egalised the match all went shit again.

It really doesn't look good (especially now that Köln won and we are last. 7 points back and 7 matches to play. Anyway, I hope Titz will stay in the 2nd Bundesliga and can make the rebuilding with young players from U21 and all those Mercenaries kicked out.
Hopefully he won't be sacked too at the end when the relegation happens because the HSV management is hopeless for years now in the coaching segment. Give this guy time to rebuild this club, it's worth it.

It matters because of the Champions League. They failed with foreign coaches (Pep and Ancelotti) and German Jupp Heynckes got them back on track (remember that Bayern had this season under Ancelotti in the first 9 matches a 5 points gap behind Dortmund, when they sacked Ancelotti (but mainly because of his cruel tactictal wrong decisions in the CL group match against PSG (0-3).
That's why they only wanted a fluent german speaking coach (Kovac, although Croatian, was born in Germany (Berlin) and knows the Bundesliga and is of course a native german speaker). It's a bold move for him but I like him (former HSV player ).

Does that mean Tuchel is coming to Arsenal. That will be a poor appointment IMO.

This rumour is no longer an issue for weeks now. Sven Mislintat, the former chiefscout from Dortmund (and now at Arsenal) wouldn't be pleased if Tuchel again would be his boss. Both can't stand each other.
PSG it is the most likely one (or even already finished...I don't care because tbh I think Tuchel is way overrated)

Kovac to Bayern is a major step-up for Niko and a huge risk for the club to take. There is little to no indication to think that he has the shoulders to manage Bayern long-term. Not only do you need to comprehensively dominate the domestic game you also need to be up there with the very best in the Champions' League. I'm not saying he doesn't have what it takes but what makes him even a solid candidate given his resume? Frankfurt is his only real job! Granted he's not doing too bad there but Bayern is a whole other ballgame. This is proof that there aren't many suitable managers for such a position.

On Tuchel, L'Equipe say it's pretty much a done deal. Calling him overrated is premature. I'd say inexperienced. Dortmund enrolled him when they had no Europe and he did well. Once Dortmund had to add European games he struggled a bit and got knocked out to Monaco in the quarters of the CL. However, BvB never should have sacked him. They enrolled Bosz from Ajax who was a disaster and now they're stuck with Stöger (again, this appointment screams they gave you this job because no one else was available).

Hamburg and Köln edging closer to the Zwei I see. Sad day for German football when this'll be confirmed.

Although we lost today at Hoffenheim (who are actually on a very good run and unbeaten for 6 or 7 games and only Bayern have scored more goals in the 2nd half of the season), it was another ok-performance from the HSV, not as good as the last home match against Schalke but way better what we saw this season under Gisdol (except the first 2 matches of the season) and especially under Hollerbach.
Titz really has turned the team upside down (in his first match in charge the HSV team was the youngest in the last 40 years) and it isn't torturous anymore to watch them play, literally speaking.
I really hope he'll be in charge if we must play in the 2.Bundesliga

edit: Bayern just 5-1 against Gladbach. They really have fun under Heynckes.
